And will you be going to Grassa's new pub for a pint IHE? "It's time to play the music It's time to light the lights It's time to meet the Grassa in the Muppet Bar tonight"

FAO George Fraser
Unbelievable - do you seriously think that Uncle George is a muppet ? Our board have shown great strides forward in the last 18 months and there is no way that they would sell our souls for such folly, even if they were enticed with any form of lucrative short term proposal.

Throw in
Thank gawd fer that - thought that we might have to throw in the feckin towel there for a moment. Throw ins are indeed an art and one that we are frustratingly rather inept with. Remember though that we used to complain bitterly that Grantys long throw was becoming deLapesque and used too often. It is a pity that we dont have a long throw option and even more concerning if Grant has a back problem that is preventing him/us to use the ploy. I understand that many clubs look to having at least one player to utilise the long throw option - and it is more about upper body strength and technique so dont know why we havent got one - unless we have decided it is not a part of our tactics. It would be useful when we have the likes of Rosscoe, Hogg, Rooney, Foran or Shane who could be targets. Short and tactical throw ins are about movement, touch and pace so we can only improve. Indirect criticism but it may not be a coaching strength of Terry and Mo - and/or possibly they want to get other aspects sorted out first - but it would be heartening to see some evident planning and execution of throw ins, corners and dead ball situations. If only our throws in could not mirror my projectile vomiting technique.

JIMMY SAYS AYE TO A COUNTY STY- Stewarding issues
That is a brilliant post and says it as I would agree but without my personalisation - but football to me has the terrace mentality and the so called rules - agreeably stoopid - are vigorously upheld and acted on specific occasions. I would have said that all the times that the stewrads have been over zealous this season that the ICT away fans have taken a break only to be picked on even worse when we stand up to simply sing a song again. Lets face it - the smaller the following the more that they will get picked on. It NEVER happens in the Premier League or the Championship !!- Stewarding issues
Well worth the green dots and even Dougal has a point in regard to chastising me - and I should be old enuff and wise enuff to know better My point is that I feel that fans, including myself, are being picked on fer merely trying to support your team and create an atmosphere. Every time that I have been challenged this season it is because I have been accused of "inciting other fans to stand". I invariably SIT away from the main group of fans - which probably does single me up - but I stand up ONLY when we are attacking, when we score, to show non verbal displays of frustration or dissent or because I was brought up in the belief and the practice of singing chants at a football match, encouraging others to join in and having a good craic. I have never deliberately attempted to wind up any steward or been abusive towards them - and the stewards do tend to pinpoint the peeple who are leading the chants. I can appreciate that some can sit throughout a game in relative silence and there are rules laid down - but why are the rules so different at different stadiums - Midden first time round was wholly enjoyable whereas this time the stewards really did appear to be hell bent on being as rigid to the rule as possible. They are not getting rid of the riff raff - they are punishing what some would say are the real "fans / characters". For the first time ever I actually got home and concluded that I really had not enjoyed the experience and fer a moment contemplated whether I should go back again or not - and it looks like others did as well. So although I can concur with and apprecaiate whay caleytillidie said I feel that there is also another side to the coin - and that is the side occupied by loyal fans who want simply to have a good day out and not hooligans - I couldnt help thinking what would have happened in the 70's if the same incident happened ??- Richard Hastings Retires From Football

I though that I would start off yet another thread - mainly becos I wanted to respond to davie and make my own statement but also co the Match thread should be about on the pitch comments only. davie posted: Thanks for this. It was my son who was ejected from the ground after being assaulted by that steward. What he actually said was that he was "sick of being treated like a f*cking animal" by said steward who then told him "don't f*cking swear at me". This man kicked him in the left shin, kinda sore when he was wearing steel toe caps. Boy was then hauled out by the neck. He spoke to the local Polis and requested that they take his details, which they refused to do. He was told "just get back on the train home". Boy, like his mates is no innocent, no shrinking violet. I've no doubt he was as gobby as usual but this response from persons supposing to keep public order is utterly, utterly unacceptable. I was in two minds as to going to the game or not, but I'm glad I didn't. I would have got out of hand, as seems to have nearly happened with a lot of fellow fans. On a serious note, this has to stop. If any of you who saw this are willing, could you pm me with details and indicated as to whether or not you are happy to be identified. If you are not, I will respect your confidentiality. I'll be on to St. Mirren tomorrow, and this man will be punished. I'll make sure of that. On a wider note, this seems to be getting worse across the board. As some of you know, I was chucked out of Parkhead earlier this season - didn't even get a reply to my complaint. Fans on forums across the country seem to have a weekly thread about being harrassed, bullied, intimidated and occasionally assaulted by these self appointed control freaks. Maybe time to do something collective about this. I was also on the point of eviction again yesterday and some of the comments made to me should be shared. I received a "final warning" just before half time as I was again accused of "inciting others to stand" - again I would have said that I was merely trying to support my team, encourage others to join in and create an away day atmosphere. For the first part of the second half I decided to stay seated for the most - only standing up when others started a chant and sitting down immediately afterwards or when ICT attacked or others in front of me stood up - I was further "cautioned" but on both occasions others were standing up blocking my view. I then started of the Bridge and castle chant and immediately the supervisor with the clipboard rushed in to action. At the exit gate I asked for the reasons for my eviction and stated my actual perceived case. Both the stewards appeared to wholly appreciate what I was saying and stated that they were simply following instructions from the Match Commander and following the rules - which they both agreed were unfair. They both also stated that the evictions have increased in recent weeks as their previous figures were low !! A passing copper joined in the discussion and allowed me to return to my seat, radioing in his rationale. To be honest - it is really beginning to mar the away day experience - and it is feckin Easter Road next !!- St Mirren -V- ICT : MatchdayThread
When you consider the situation that we faced yesterday I would have said that we di well to come away with a point - I felt that there were more longer term positives than negatives - and in an end to end match a draw was the fairest result. So we start the game with a new if not "makeshift" defence. Not actually shure if Tel had any other options than what he picked - two central defenders who have not played together, one who is short of match practice. I have never liked Proctor at rite back but he deserved a chance and he didnt take it. Thank Gawd that we had Duff to steady the ship and Ryan to save the day as ever. The loss of Hayes also put the game plan out of synch and we had to change our tactics accordingly. Cox and Duncan were strong enuff in midfield and will always be first pick when we have a wide option to play to and through. It was my first glimpse of Doran and he shure has potential but needs match time to progress and fit in to the system. Rooney and Foran together will reallly pay dividends. I thought that Foran played as well as I have seen him in ages - possibly released from the responsibility of shoring up the midfield and being overly defense minded. He has the "head", the positional sense and the movement to be the perfect foil fer Rooney as the third goal proved. I would take Dargo back in a mo and he carved us open a few times in a St Midden 10-15 first half dominance which may have been as much about us sitting back on the lead. I was surprised that Hogg and Innes did not dominate in the air and we always looked susceptible to set plays - plus Innes lost his marker on several occasions. ESSON Mr reliable as ever - and am I being cruel - but was he found wanting a little during that fisrt half Midden dominance - I kept on waiting for him to sort out the defence and give them laldy but he didnt and I was equally surprised that he stayed on his line so much. But what a reaction save at the end. DUFF Another reliable who at times appeared to be the main man marshalling the defence. Plays the easy ball every time. HOGG Thought that he looked the better of the other three by a long way. INNES Lack of playing time showed and he looked lost at times. PROCTOR Strange choice at left back - given his chance and didnt take it. DORAN Like my first look - very Hayesesque but appears to be more of a tracker backer - also looks as he can pass/cross with either foot. COX / DUNCAN Solid enuff but I would have scored Cox just in front of Russeldhino HAYES Not around long enuff to make any difference. FORAN My MOM with his best all round performance in ages. ROONEY Certainly appeared to be helped by the new Foran and he shure is taking his chances again after a bare spell.
