  1. I'm guessing our midfield/attack will be this then: -------Cox------Duncan------- Hayes------Eric----------Gil ----------Rooney------------ Gil has a very good setpiece, which I reckon will be our best chance of a goal tomorrow. But has failed to impress me in the games I've seen him play, where he's often been losing possession, getting muscled off the ball, not tracking back, cutting inside too much... etc etc. I hope the chance to appear on TV in front of a global audience is going to spark him into life a bit!! What really worries me about Foran missing out is how little an outlet we have from goalkicks/kicks up the park... as neither Gil or Hayes will win anything in the air. Think that a pretty accurate assessment Ross especially the cutting in part if he's out on the left!
  2. Who do we reckon is worse? Kevin Thomson or Charlie Adam? Not sure I've ever seen slower footballers

Yip just saw that. Hope it's true. My old man was talking to one of the medical team yesterday
  4. I got told yesterday he was a major doubt for Saturday so here's hoping he is fit

Just heard that Foran is a major doubt for the game after suffering a reaction to Saturday's cameo :_thumbdown:

Staying in the SPL is our main priority. Talk of a Top 6 finish is somewhat 'optimistic'

Ross certainly has a lot of potential but at the moment he is pretty lightweight. The trouble is that if Hayes isn't fit there really isn't anyone else to play wide right apart from him.
  8. Pretty poor game. Standard pre-season fare really. The ref blew for a free kick at the slightest hint of physical contact which didn't help matters Think we were lucky to nick the draw epecially as they had a clear cut penalty turned down with a few minutes to go. The first half was eminantly forgettable with our usual aimless hoofs up the park the standard tactic. Things improved dramatically in the second when the absolutely hopeless Sanchez & Blumenshtein were replaced by Eric & Foran. Thought Tokely & Esson were excellent as was Gillet today. Ross will need to bulk up a bit to survive in the SPL. Far too easily dispossessed. Think a season on loan would do him the world of good The 2 games I've seen so far have made me realise how much we are going to rely on Foran & Hayes this season. We are lost without them What a racket the Antwerp fans make! Fair play to them as they had a bigger support than many SPL sides take up to us.
  9. Interesting clash of football styles. Passing & movement Vs long ball. See if you can guess which was which? The Spanish dominated possession but failed to create any clear cut chances in what was pretty much a training exercise for them. We huffed and puffed also with no end product. There No 21 seemed to be the pick of the bunch in the 1st half. Wee guy who played wide right. Shame he went off. For us Eric, Rossco & Coxy were the best performers. It was my first look at some of the new guys and it would be unfair to judge them on one game but Blumenshtein has the potential to be the next Darran Thomson!
  10. I'm delighted (and amazed) that Celtic still haven't signed a decent left back. Mulgrew is such a liability :_funny:
  11. According to today's Courier Foran , Hayes & Odhiambo are injured and will miss out as will Proctor who is suspended. We also need permission from Hibs to play McCann
  12. Think Butcher might put Tuffey in goals for the cup matches & Esson for the league
  13. Celtic Rangers Dundee United Hearts Hibs Motherwell Aberdeen St Johnstone Hamilton ICT Kilmarnock St Mirren
  14. A humbling result and a bit of a reality check for some. Might not be a bad thing in the long run. Keep folks feet on the ground

Is McCann quick? Let's hope so otherwise well have one of the slowest defences in the SPL.

Hmmmm!! He's experienced if nothing else.
  17. Never heard of him! Hopefully he'll do better than Gathuessi
  18. Heard he was now on trial at County

I would say Esson is the better keeper. From what I've seen Tuffey isn't the greatest at kicking/dealing with passbacks & is a bit shaky with crosses.

Seems a strange signing to me. 2 excellent keepers seems a bit of a luxury.

Glad to read in the P&J this morning that a move for Duff has been ruled out
  22. Peterhead have signed Dennis Wyness

3 trialists named in the Press & Journal Central defender Andrew Milne, 19, was released by Leeds United, while Irish centre back Callum Morris, 20, and Ashington-born left back Darren Lough, 20, both head north after being released by Newcastle. P&J LINK

It says they both impressed in trials with the club and in practice matches. Were these at the end of last season?
  25. He did a World Cup special last Saturday on Sportsound and there is another this coming Saturday. This would seem to be all the 'work' he is going out there
