  1. Arrogant? Thats not the first time ive been called that Ok, when i said "our" i meant Highlanders and Islanders. Im 27, and my grandmother's native language was Gaelic, she learnt english as a second language. Its neither dead, dying or irrelevant in peoples daily life in a large part of the region outside of Inverness. To stay on topic, would people not be keen on more Gaelic in the club, timing is good with BBC Alba etc, and it is an identity of the area, whether you speak it or not, so i would like to see it on the badge, lots of clubs use latin on their badges, why not Gaelic?
  2. Yes, yes. Apply that argument to anything and it usually wins, lets stop ICT...think of all the exhaust fumes created by people stuck in the car park!! For arguments sake, if the next time ICT are making a new sign, new letterheads, strips, etc, should they not put Gaelic on it. Its our Heritage, our native tongue, an ancient and unique reminder of our Celtic roots, and it is most definitely not a dying language.
  3. Does ICT have any gaelic signage in or around the stadium Martin? With the new Gaelic movement (BBC Alba, this film competition, Gaelic schools, roadsigns) Should ICT also display Gaelic in the stadium, programme, strips etc? Inbhir Niss!!
  4. Its a toughie, on the one hand, a supporter by definition is someone who gives support to the club. But support for the club could also be directed in a different way, i.e. supporting it by working to remove something that is harmful to it. For example, if a mate of yours was with a real evil partner would you let it fly and say nothing or do the opposite and air your grievances, even cut them off if thats what had to happen. The underlying question. Is brewster really a harmful influence on this club. Is he the whole reason why its gone from day to night. Are people sure its down to him solely. Could he do an Alex Ferguson and start of badly and suddenly take off. I guess most people are saying its down to CB, therefore i think they are entitled to do what they feel is best. Case by case.
  5. Hi Robbo. As a striker (and a damned good one at that) do you agree with Alan Shearer that shooting across the goal is the way to go. How do you train strikers day to day. Is it mostly one on ones, crosses for headers or dead ball shots. ? What exactly is, as they say in the business, a natural born striker. Great to have you here, fond fond memories.
  6. I absolutely agree. If they had identified a stone-wall certainty who could bring more to the table than Barry, then most would understand, but is that the case? We will all wait and see, and for his sake, Brewster better have a replacement lined up. Throwing in young players into the most difficult season is risky, no discredit to them, but as any fool knows, the best way to get young players to improve is to keep the pressure off of them as much as is possible, keep their confidence up, and so on.
  7. Haste ye back...its a classic, or if you dont like that how about `Though I am always in haste, I am never in a hurry.` Its a tough competition, lots of videos, but I think that it has merits enougfh to do it, good footage of the football and lots of background visuals to make it very rounded, liked the capture of the Tv in the background, the butter on toast and the techno end. I think it should reach a wider audience, any chance of getting it in the matchday programme?
  8. Excellent stuff. Not only does it highlight the vastness of the Highlands and Islands but also the hard work put in by sections of the community to support the area as a whole. It also was one of the most interesting and innovative Gaelic films I have seen, blending youth, leisure, community, culture and more. It reminds us all here that we are a unique football club, and the only SPL club with a true scots gaelic following, and that we have many unique things to be proud of. Hats off to Gordon. Nice to hear from Darren, and the Mackinnons from Heaste! Haste ye back!
  9. I hope all the like minded people wanting to send a message to those in their Ivory towers are PM ing each other to arrange rendevous etc. Here is some inspiration... Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends than that good men should look on and do nothing. John Stuart Mill, "On Education" (1867)
  10. If we lose Black and Cowie, then, i think, its goodnight vienna. They are the nucleus alongside Tokely and Munro, its a cliche but first names on the teamsheet. If they both leave ICT, be down to just two consistent and tied n tested stalwarts out of 11. And as a consequence, a squad that is on paper, worse than any other in the SPL. Imrie is the only shining light. Remember the days of Brown, Mann, Niculae, Rankin, Cowie, Black, Robson, Wyness and Dargo (on form)...its disheartening
  11. Losing Barry is a straw too far. Brewster should never have been brought back in the first place, a failed manager, it was a gamble and it didnt pay off, simple...as...that. The squad has nothing like the strength it once had since Boo-rooster came back. The only way any sort of airing of feelings will happen is if someone organises it, I fear though, that its a hot potato...catch!
  12. When i think of ICT I think of Christie, Ritchie, Stewart, Mann, Munro, Tokely and most of all Wilson. Too few players around like this, and a big loss for ICT. ICT+BW=SPL. Hope it will be soon that you are back! Feb 8th 2000!
  13. First time to see that, class! It must be 15 years old, the gameshow host is none other than "Beat" Takeshi Kitano, more famous as the director of Battle Royale movies
  14. Nice one. Mind you Kencar, you only had to hear that the once, think of the players who get spoken down to from such high heights week on week. What an arrogant condascending eejit Brewster is.
  15. Kirishima

    4 home wins

Had it not been for the away results, things would be red rover. Home form is essential as it brings in a) money from bigger crowds money from televised games c) money from corporate hospitality, 1 win in 9 at home hardly gets Setanta excited or companies wanting to woo/bore their customers at ICT. This contract offer shows that there is only one factor in decision making, and its not the supporters, or seemingly, any other viable just factor. Give him a raise while yer at it.
  16. Add to that the 57k just in from the EuropChampionship for releasing Niculae and there should definitely be money on hand in January.
  17. ICT cant just mug the money from the supporter without consultation. For example, say Mike Smith went to Hawaii on a scouting mission, everybody would be suspicious but seriously, if they arent going to drop prices then they have to say why they kept it and where it is being used.
  18. I dont forsee DS one day moving in the bulldozers, stroking a white cat and laughing menacingly. I think that if he wanted a bit of land he may well have gone down quicker and easier routes. However, the refusal to tell its own shareholders who exactly owns what is alarming to saythe least. If DS said, "its my land, get out" he wouldnt get very far at all. I cant see us re-locating, not ever, so while it is concerning about the unanswered questions, DS may be able to do with the land what he wants on paper, i doubt he would ever do anything that would vilify him, hence i am not worried He saved us, so benefactor all the way, profit or no profit
  19. First on the agenda" - How to beat ICT at home...? Nah... I think there has to be a reason as to why half were chosen and half were not. What decisions/ideas will be put forward, some could affect ICT and we have no say in the discussions. For example (just if) one suggestion was that ICT pays for the away teams transportation and they all agreed. Or talking about the 16 team SPL?
  20. I have to disagree, anybody who owns FM08 doesnt leave the house at weekends so cant be them Some people just arent rambunctious by nature. At ICT a fair few. What are you gonna do, use a cattle prod. Its their choice, they support with their wallets, you cant make someone shout and sing. Now if beer and standing was allowed, well,......
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/7730721.stm Walter Smith, Gordon Strachan, Jimmy Calderwood, John Hughes, Mark McGhee, Craig Levein were invited to the SPL forum. Why these 6 and why not the rest. How about the only Highland manager, why wasnt he invited? Maybe previously the other 6 said no, or were overlooked? 4 out of the 6 are from the central belt. Jim Jeffries is surely a man to be there having more SPL experience than the lot of them... Anyone know the reasons behind this? I assume they will be meeting in the central belt...
  22. Topsixnextyear, good post. There is no fun. Been to many other grounds in many other countries and its different. Emphasis on the customer, an entertaining day, welcoming, hospitality. Said it before..ICT supporters - a necessary evil, in the clubs opinion imo I am shielded by distance but it must be galling for season ticket holders week in week out
  23. Alex, I think you are partly correct but I dont think people at the club want Brewster out for the same reasons as other clubs. Differences - Brewster is having his second bite of the cherry, none of the other managers, bar WS, are. It worked at Stoke, its not working here. To employ somebody who decided to move on elsewhere and made a hash of it is fine, but its a gamble because the fans wont trust his loyalty, he is not an ICT man, and as Highlanders we put loyalty high up on the agenda. There seems to be some shenanigans, hearsay or not. Players speaking back, incoming mate of Brewster Byrne, who is popular with who?, a revamp of the squad that has left it threadbare and out of sync, players out of position, Marius saga, Home record has been abysmal, its all good and well getting points away from home, but tell to season ticketholders who give up their saturday to be bored and tormented in the cold and wet. I think the ICT case is unique
  24. Muscle weighs more than fat, proven fact. I aint gonna be messing with Smee...
