  1. What Kingsmills said - there is no justification to be on furlough this time around. It would be stretching the credibility of any pandemic scheme rules a wee bit too far.
  2. Yep it does feel as if we're in a stronger starting position for next season. Doesn't really matter who comes up or down into the Championship it will still be a very competitive and hard fought league - the Championship is my favourite league both north and south of the border.
  3. Well it's been a tough few weeks with such a busy schedule and we gave it a darn good go, they have done themselves proud to turnaround a very difficult situation - as Mantis said 5th place was the most realistic outcome. In hindsight (wonderful thing), the cup game at the Midden did us no favours but it was a brave attempt. Looking forward to the derby victories next season now!
  4. What a great time for one of our epic comebacks from 3-0 down - really looking forward to an historic 2nd half!
  5. If we get edged out then it won't be for a lack of trying and I'm extremely impressed with the effort of late to get us into this position. Although I think we'll get 4th it's a helluva tough league where nothing can be taken for granted and we may very well get edged out, but whatever comes about I really, really want us to give Dundee a right good old thrashing on Tuesday!
  6. I'm happy with that Robert, always feels better to achieve it from your own efforts - beating Dundee will just make it all a bit sweeter
  7. Feel proud of a great effort. Took some balls to make the decision to go with a strong team and all out for the win, confidence in the camp obviously high enough to feel we were capable of doing it all. Mixed blessings as I don't think extra-time would have done us any favours. Onwards and upwards to Tuesday night, let's give Dundee a right good stuffing!
  8. I start work at 8pm Jack, I have to miss the pleasure of Friday or Saturday evening games every week 😕
  9. Right enough Eagle, nice as a cup run is I wouldn't want to see any distraction from the main event which is now within touching distance...
  10. Superb result, puts down a real marker for the run-in - same again on Saturday please guys - well done to you all
  11. I'd have happily taken 1-2, that was my prediction league FT score!
  12. Yep as it stands that pretty well puts Ayr out of contention - they'd be in a 3 horse race for the wrong playoff.
  13. ...and we ought to give due praise to Buckie for their valiant effort and add ourselves to the list of late winners.
  14. I'm a sucker for irony Jack so have him down as first scorer in Gringo's prediction league - likely from a misplaced header or off his shin as he tries to set up Billy McKay
  15. CaleyCanary replied to Robert's topic in Other Sports
I was overcome by a feeling of total despair in the final few minutes, repeatedly turning down the chance of 3 kickable penalty points just like we did against Ireland and Wales. My thought was exactly as you said, we could have been looking at a grand slam if only we'd decided to go for the sticks instead of toughing it out for field position and grabbing a try. Well, it paid off in Paris, and on reflection it was worth doing - death or glory!
  16. Excellent result, well done chaps! Only fly in the ointment today is the QotS win - even Raith winning is a bonus as it puts Morton further behind us giving a wee bit of a cushion below us.
  17. Are we done yet? BBC live text seems to have frozen...
  18. Superb result and what a great week! Very well done to everyone involved at the club for the hard work and effort put in to give us this tidy little run of clean sheets. Can we play in Fife every week?
  19. We have the choice - 3 points off 4th and 3 points from 9th, keeps the glass half-full and the glass half-empty crowds both happy!
  20. Big relief to get that 3 points we so badly needed. The 4 points gained against Raith gives us some hope - big well done shout out to all on and off the pitch for a good weeks work!
  21. I'm assuming this a temporary position to help Neil while Robbo and Kells are away so I don't see this as a negative - anyone willing to chip in to help us get to the end of this season and keep us in the Championship is welcome.
  22. Maybe some fireworks up our backsides might help more Jack 😧
  23. If he'd left Pittodrie a couple of weeks ago it might have been a reasonable approach to ask him to fill in as the temp for Robbo but we couldn't afford him and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't even consider it, McInnes will have his sights set far higher than us. Moreover, I agree with Snorbens, he's our manager going through a hard time and he should be left alone to recover and get back to his old self again.
