Absolutely agree with Robert - the crucial bit for me is 'no worse than 8th'. I would not fancy our chances in a relegation playoff against (most likely) an Accies side with their tails up and something to prove, whilst we have a team with a large number of loanees ready to depart back to their parent clubs. I'm not decrying their effort and commitment but when it comes to the crunch they wouldn't be as likely to put everything on the line and give 110% in that situation. We should, however, have enough quality in our squad to keep us out of that position and hopefully they'll click together sooner rather than later to climb clear of that dreaded 9th place.

That was my concern when I first read about the charges, albeit further down the line. A rejection of the application, however, could very well bring about that possibility sooner if we’re in such dire straits. Worrying times ahead off the pitch if the decision goes against the application.

It’s a pity we didn’t do some business to strengthen the defence during the transfer window

Yep absolutely but the big issue that had to be addressed was avoiding relegation in the first place so that we weren’t rebuilding as a part-time outfit in the lower leagues. Looks like Big Dunc has recruited wisely to fill that brief and should hopefully make us a better looking prospect for those available in the transfer market come summer time. I’m quite looking forward to seeing what these guys can do for us.
