  4. Cheers CB - and I hope you win your points this week! ?
  5. Have to agree Mantis, I only see this competition as a positive step. I gave up watching friendlies many moons ago, a complete waste of time, effort and money not only for the fans but also of limited benefit for the FA, coaches and players. This tournament, on the other hand, will provide some meaningful competition to put some life back into our internationals with the added benefit of another chance to reach a major finals and restore some long lost pride and passion.

  13. Sad and disappointing to again be reading of this type of abuse coming from a section of our support. Nobody minds criticism, as fans that's part of our job. I take it that this is coming from some of our younger crew? I remember with embarrassment some of the tosh I used to spout out back in the 60s and 70s - the folly of youth I suspect. Hopefully these guys will be suitably ashamed of themselves when they look back on their conduct when they're older.

  16. Delighted with that result, the Tarts result today helps to put last week in perspective. Given the worries from so many about the effect that hammering may have had on us, getting the away win was impressive. Looking forward to hearing how it all went from those lucky enough to be there...

  18. Hiya punters - thanks for running this again Gringo, great fun but definitely contributes to the hair loss... Cowdenbeath @ 5.25 please
  19. The Tarts actually came into this game off the back of a 5-0 against Cowdenbeath and had sorted out their issues from the first two games. They showed in parts how good a team they could be and overall I'm not that worried as we won't be facing that quality many times this season. Ok it was a bad day at the office and the result was disappointing, but lessons have been learnt and I doubt we'll be on the receiving end of a similar result any time soon - bring on the Bairns!

  23. I have a certain amount of empathy with Joonya's feelings - for me the depression started kicking in a few hours after we left Hampden, the feeling that it was never going to be this good again!. That, on top of the ridiculous league setup and the oddball decisions fired out by the FA every now and again does reduce your enthusiasm for the game in general, however, it does not diminish your love for the club and your undying support. I don't get home nearly as often as I used to so rarely manage to get to games these days, that's solely down to finances and nothing to do with not wanting to turn up and cheer on the CaleyJags at every game no matter what division we are in or how well we are doing at the time. I suspect there are many others in a similar situation. I'd love to move back home and do find it a wee bit difficult to understand the poor attendance at home games, however, for many it's not a cheap day out and if you're not enjoying it I'm sure it's pretty hard to justify the expense. Hopefully, last season's great revival and the newly restored spirit within the club will help bring back some of the missing support.
  24. Are we really surprised? ?
  25. Thoroughly enjoyed what turned out to be a very entertaining tournament. Only sour point for me was Harry Kane winning the Golden Boot when 3 of his 6 strikes were from penalties. Given some of the fantastic goals we saw during the tournament I just felt his winning of the award was a bit of a let-down and slap in the face to some of the exciting strikers who were far more capable in front of the goal from open play than he was.
