yep i probably got caught up in the moment after finally starting a reasonably successful thread (probably due to the slightly controversial nature to it) but my opinion is now clear. i hope vigurs will change my mind, but i doubt i will ever change my name to vigursisvictorious. although it does have a certain ring to it.....

I have always supported Brewster, but he made the wrong team selection. Just to clear things up : Vigurs, Duff and Wood did not play well enough to impress me. They looked slow, unreliable and lacked any real spark that was needed to win the game. I think that if we had played Imrie (who has only played badly in one half of one game so far) instead of Vigurs out wide, we would have stretched the st mirren defence much more than we did. If we had played Barrowman instead of Wood then we would have scored another couple of goals as Barrowman has more presence and can keep his head when in front of goal. ALso, if we had played Munro instead of Duff, then i doubt we would have conceded any goals on saturday. To leave the club captain and a man that scored 29 goals last season (alright at a lower level but confidence is all he needs to repeat the feat in the spl, and sitting on the bench isn't going to inspire him to anywhere near that tally) andreplace them with two inexperienced young players strikes me as bizarre. Fair enough, all three played their part against falkirk and all three played well, but the 'hype' after that game was unbelievable. We played well, but didn't deserve half the praise we received. The game against st mirren was important, if we'd won there would have been a 7 point gap between us, and we should have played our best players. I don't think Vigurs and Wood come under that category. They were not the only problems on saturday and they didn't play as badly as Mcguire and indeed Roscoe, but i'm not saying that they should have been playing either. I have no grudge against vigurs, duff or wood and i think they will become very good players for us one day. But against st mirren wasn't the time or place. When we are safer than we are at the moment, then we can afford to give them a game or the last 30 mins of a game. Hopefully only Duff will have retained his place against Hearts, and this will be the line-up: gk Fraser rb Tokely (preferably Proctor) lb Hastings (just) cb Munro cb Duff lm Imrie rm Cowie cm Black cm McBain (or Duncan) fc Rooney fc Barrowman ps just for alex macleod; although rooney is a young player, he has had enough experience to give me confidence in him. A big crowd or atmosphere shouldn't matter to them, they are professional footballers and most of them know what to expect when playing at TCS. No atmosphere and some clapping from time to time. This didn't seem to hamper them last season when we had pretty good home form.

Who is struan scott-woodhouse, i have heard positive things about him. The hibs side doesn't look too weak; Yantorno, Thicot, Gatheussi and Hanlon are pushing for a game for the first team.

the one positive aspect of ict being relegated is that we could get the terracing back.

I'd play duff and munro, but no more youthful exuberance in the starting eleven than that please.

its both hilarious and disappointing when you get disapproving glances from women and children around you fora) swearing and daring to join in with the singing. but there has been the odd occasion aginst aberdeen both home and away that we have generated a good atmosphere.

once you see the extensive highlights you'll see how flimsy we looked in midfield and how much like a bulldozer we were up front (strong but slow and easy to handle). If we want to beat hearts, and it looks like we're going to need to with our fixtures, then we can't play all three.

i hate to say it but roscoe can be a liability in defence sometimes. perhaps move him to midfield and put proctor at right back (after his injury).

can't get rid of the system just because of one slacker ;) its always good to see our reserve team doing well, we play a much younger team than others yet always do well. In no order in particular... 1. The old firm have a youth set up too, both of which have produced club captain and several 1st team players. 2. We dont have an automatic first shout on ALL local promising youngsters. And they wont be free. 2. Vigurs 2. Would you rather a 19-20 brought up by Alec Cleland and the support of an SPL club or by Clachs/Nairns/whoevers youth system. 3. Wood 4. It's an important part of the community I'm sure. 5. Duff. 6. Money will not necessarily improve the first team's performances. 7. A player brought up by the youth squad will know the score, will find it easier to fit in, and will hopefully be loyal. This is not to say that poaching players isnt important, but we can and are doing both. :thumb04: :018: i love a good arguement

Where has this been documented? If you can provide a link that would be super. sorry can't find one, you're just going to need to trust me. I'll phone up brew tommorrow to confirm it. mainly its the fact that he made effort to track back that annoyed me. maybe its to do with his style of play that he looks so relaxed, but he didn't seem to give his all today. by the way, i think that the cost of buying the best players from highland league and neighbours would be much higher than the costs of running our youth team. But it is refreshing to see some new ideas.

Confidence can make any striker score goals, the bench isn't going to help him. Its been well documented by brewster that he doesn't have the right attitude in training. He seems to give up far too easily, but he can change my mind if he wants to.

2tokely is a genius. no, doudie didn't do well, but vigurs was worse. And i do support whatever, but i don't expect to see vigurs kept in the starting lineup. And we weren't exactly playing barcelona here.
