Summer transfer targets
Heard one story about us attempting to sign Richie Byrne after his impending release from aberdeen. Would be useful back-up. Another type of player i'd like us to look at is Canning of queens park. He may be playing in a basically amateur team, but he has been impressive every time i've seen him and might be able to cut it at a higher level.

Brewster's take on the Season.
If st mirren are anything as inferior to us next season as they were today no way are we being relegated. Next season is make or break, and we have to improve to meet the increasingly high standards of the fans.

Summer transfer targets
I would try a cheeky bid for daryll duffy, don't think he's getting a game at the minute wherever he is. Either that or definitly get Juanjo back. :021:

Worst moment of the season
Losing 3-0 to motherwell at the start of the season, dismal. Losing donald park was the one that really hit us hard.

ICT -V- St Mirren : matchday thread
A surprisingly good game, possibly should have won it but i'm happy with the 1 point. Pity to see wyness and probably niculae in ict colours for the last time, neither had a particularly good game though. As for MoM, tokely gets my vote simply for the delightful heel-flick he used to bamboozle saints left-back. Great response from those in the north stand like myself, roscoe clearly enjoyed himself.

don cowie players player of the year
He deserves it but could work on his consistency.

Clearly donald park leaving has affected brew, he was the main man as far as the tactics and players morale in my opinion. Can't figure out our poor away form... maybe the travelling???

Brewsters not the problem, the men behind the scenes are. Players as well have to take responsibility, most haven't perofrmed for chunks of the season. It might sound simple but a winning team will always boost the attendances, and we will always go on losing streaks that put off potential supporters and part-time fans.

I'm not waiting a year!! I'm doing it now :023: I wish everybody would start adopting that stance with wyness. :clapping03:

He's had a bad season, next year if he isn't back to his caley best, then we can start writing him off as a goalscorer.

I also believe we are where we are because we deserve it, but we have the resources of a mid-table 1st division club. St mirren have improved their squad with dargo, that guy they signed from the mls, recently tom brighton once of clyde fame, jack ross. In my eyes that is improving, and they will be chasing our tails next season. Motherwell and utd are over-achieving?? Purely because of good management?????? How else were thay going to improve?? Hibs have always had good foundations and will flourish under paataleinen. Motherwell will only get better and better under mcghee. I think you mis-understood my post somewhat. :029:

This season has been a relative success, in that we have stayed in the spl, but if we don't make the step up in the next couple of seasons to the top six then we will go down. If you look at most of the established teams in the spl, they have all been relegated but came back stronger. Somehow i can't see us coming back stronger from being relegated, we would probably become a mid-table division one club, where we probably should be. This year motherwell, united, hibs and st mirren have all got much better, while we have become a little stagnant and involved in 'dressing-room unrest' and 'directors turmoil'. However we are still in the top league in scotland with normal attendances of just over 3500 and a transfer budget of ?0. People on this forum need to sit down, shut up and be grateful we have spl football at our local club. I am 'caley till i die' and while brewster is manager and we're in the top league in scotland, i will be delighted.

Fans should be happier that we went on a run that included beating celtic, hearts, hibs and falkirk that pulled us away from the mire at the bottom, before going on a bad run as per usual and then recording the second biggest win of the season (albeit against gretna). A season avoiding relegation in the SPL is good enough for me, and i would settle for the same next season. And from what i've heard, a lot of fans think wyness is past it and his heart isn't in it anymore. Any player, club legend or not, that consistently under-performs for 2 seasons should be asked to leave.

If clubs sacked their managers or changed their boards every time the fans called for it, there would be no continuity and they would fall apart. Fans are fickle, and most are stupid.

I think Brewster is the man for next season, with a pre-season and transfer window under him we should do more than enough to stay up. Hopefully he can sign another couple of quality players, he has a good track record (dargo, imrie, rankin, mcguire). Although if i had to choose between charlie christie and brewster, it would probably be christie.

Wyness or Wilson??
looks as though wyness is offski anyway. Surprising he didn't play yesterday, perhaps a deal is already done?
-
The Long Ball
A lot of caley fans actually clapped the gretna goal. The club really needs to do something about the atmosphere. Perhaps organising something with the social club; a free drink for everyone with a ticket??? Or at least turning a blind eye to a bit of standing?

Brews after match thoughts
Rory had a pretty good game, slowly changing my opinion of him.

The Long Ball
Very good performance, feel a bit sorry for the gretna fans. Great goals all round, but where was the atmosphere? I would have thought the 'section g crazy gang' would have swarmed in with quid for a kid offer. Still, couldn't fault the performance on the pitch, rossco and imrie were immense. :021:

Wyness or Wilson??
After wilsons performance today he definitely proved he has a lot more to offer the team. Wyness didn't play, but rory did surprisingly well in his absence. Maybe we dont need him with the young talent coming through. Scratch that, we definitely don't need him. Good luck to him at county, a fair swap deal for barrowman.

Wyness or Wilson??
Savage seemed to be 'going to' do a lot of things that he never quite got around to. :024: :024:

Wyness or Wilson??
Zander, Mccallister and Vigurs all signng new deals, paataleinen looking as though he's on the way out, all the contract issues are finally getting sorted out. But Denzil and Barry are still fighting it out for new deals, possibly with each other. I would say that Barry deserves the new contract as he has proved his worth in the last couple of games I have seen him in, while Wyness looks ready to leave. Although I get the feeling that Brewsters not one for sentiment, and will let both go in the summer :019: :019:

Brewsters Last Game??
Back to brewster, if he was to play it would be one of the highlights of a pretty dull season (aside from beating celtic), and some much-needed excitement injected to an end of season game. Only wish we could have given him a bigger send-ff against a bigger team.
