  1. Terry is killing his chances of salvaging anything at either end the longer he keeps this up. Im at the point now where I almost dont want him back (I know that sounds bitter) but Hibs are a rival club with the same aims and aspirations as ourselves in a league where there is never much distance between teams. If this was an English club it would be a different story. Different league, different mindset, different country. Deep down I just dont think his heart is in it anymore. I cant imagine what the week has been like for the players and the backroom staff. My only hope is Hibs are peddling out the same tripe theyve been displaying for weeks and we take them apart. The players will need the full backing of the fans, especially on Saturday. I imagine its been a difficult week for each and every one of us. If he does leave I will be gutted, I will be gutted to see a man depart at a crucial time in the season, after having worked tirelessly for the last 5 years in building this club into a real force. I will be gutted to see him head to a club where he will ultimately throw it all away chasing the same ghosts that Fenlon, Calderwood, Hughes and Paatelainen have been chasing. But what I will be gutted about most is we will never see how far Terry could have taken us. We still sit high in the league and we still have a cup semi final in February to get through. If Marsella and Malpas follow then we will have to re jig our entire way of doing business. A formula which has served us well. Especially in the last 2 seasons, the thought of that dosent bare thinking about. If he does stay Im not convinced he will have the same authority or respect from the fans though time would tell on that one. Things could go on like nothing happened. On the flip side if he does depart. Our high league position and cup status makes a really attractive outlet for any manager. I would expect a massive flurry of applications. While it will be frustrating it could also be a really exciting time for us as fans. At the moment all we can really do is put this hellish week behind us and get right behind the team that is put out against Easter Road on Saturday...regardless of whoevers in charge. Eddie Thompson said fans are the only constant in football. I think that statement means more now than it ever did. The ICT ride will continue! Lets do our bit to keep it going.
  2. I supported the art of running around in circles, playing around in a Fisher Price Toy car and watching Danger Mouse.
  3. Im actually quite excited about this, regardless of what decision is made. Boys will need the fans full backing after this week. We owe it to them.
  4. I dont want anyone returning for a 2nd spell short term or long term. It didnt work last time and with such a legacy being left behind it will require a clean slate and a fresh face.
  5. Archie Knox applied for the job here when Brewster got the boot. Wonder if he will apply again. Will certainly have a number of contacts.
  6. Heading down on the bus with a small band of folks, looking forward to it.
  7. A serious suggestion. Tony Mowbray?
  8. Ossie Ardilles...oh no wait wrong year.
  9. Just saw the Courier tweet. Would definitely take that as a credible source.
  10. Paul Hartley I think might be worh a punt. Hes made a good climb with Alloa on a shoestring budget. I know he wouldnt be a popular choice but would Jimmy Calderwood be such a bad suggestion? He led Dunfermline to Europe and a final and Aberdeen had a good European run with him as well whilst also enjoying 4 consecutive top 6 finishes.
  11. Owen Coyle is in charge of Wigan and in Europe.
  12. Was about to post the same story. Safe to say he is probably off. I wouldnt say Im devastated by it...but its pretty damn close to how Im feeling if it is true. I really thought Terry would be old and wise enough to see through the Hibs move. I really thought these past 2 years would have seen us push through the old problem of losing our managers to other clubs in this league. Hibs may not have contacted the club themselves but it seem like TB's mind is made up.
  13. Another scrappy win but a win is a win. Killie dominated large chunks of the game but lacked any quality in the final third. We werent too sharp ourselves. Doran got the rub of the green with his shot taking a lucky deflection. Deano was equally fortunate that his defence were alert to the danger caused by his slack pass to Gardyne. Shinnies goal was well taken, linked up well with Foran and cut inside, striking a nice shot across Samson and into the bottom corner but we shouldve built on it. Killie never really threatened but they got their goal back from a set piece. Response was good as Williams saw his header come off the post. Game petered out and result was ours. Any game that see us with 3 points is top notch but we really seem to have lost our fluency. The slickness from previous game is not quite there. I know Shinnie got man of the match but for me Foran was the best player on the pitch today. Defensively he was excellent. Mopped up so much at the back and did everything he could to get attacks going. Ive questioned his passing ability at times but I couldnt fault him today, barely put a foot wrong and some the passes he picked out were top notch. Proper captains display.
  14. At the moment they certainly are. They are facing another season of mid table mediocrity if they are lucky. They have a bunch of players who arent very good and dont play well together and fans who are so quick to jump on their backs if any touch they take on the field is not a goal. Theyve also been stuck in this cycle for quite a few years now. Easter Road is one of the most hostile atmospheres in the league just now. They may have money but its not made any bit of difference for Hughes, Calderwood or Fenlon.
  15. Having just got us into another Semi Final and with us still sitting far above Hibs It makes no sense. He knocked back the Championship interest last season cos of what we stood to achieve last season. This season is no different if not better. I think he is determined to make his mark here. Whether that be gaining a European spot or winning a trophy (or both for all you optimists). I think if that is achieved only then he will look to leave. If it happens this season then it wouldnt surprise me if he moves on, but only to a club down South. I really dont see him going anywhere else in Scotland, especially a nothing club like Hibs.
  16. Brill Meekings, Devine, Warren, Shinnie Draper, Foran Doran, Ross, Williams McKay Subs: Esson, Cooper, Tremarco, Watkins, Polworth, Greenhalgh, Toby
  17. Agree with IHE, cant fault Tremarco as a defender but he did not link up well with Doran at all throughout the game, but as said his defensive ability and his workrate make him a great player. Delighted we got him on board. Dont like Shinnie at right back. For me id temporarily split the Warren/Meekings partnership. Put Meekings to right back and give Devine a chance. I dont think we are lacking in depth. Wide areas being a prime example. Doran was the only out and out winger we had last season. Whereas now we have him, Watkins, Greenhalgh and Williams all vying for a spot in the team and all have shown flashes of brilliance in the games they have played. 2 of the players that made Drapers goal on Tuesday were Toby and Williams. 2 players who came on against a quality side in United who were defending for their lives and made a winning impact. Compared to last season I think weve got a decent amount of depth in the squad this season. With an option to shuffle things about should we wish to.
  18. Great game that was poorly played. Watsons goal was a cracker and they took advantage of a moment of slackness. Game needed spicing up and what better way to do it than scrapping. Wanna see it again on tv. Clancy and his officials had no control over it at all. Dunno about anyone else but saw Ciftci grab Shinnie by the throat...he deserved to Was a crackin leap from Warren and a great time to equalize. Shouldve have won in normal time but hey ho it set up a grandstand finish. Williams looked good when he came on. Bit of pace and a lovely ball to set up Draper who probably played his worst game for ICT tonight but popped up to head home. Overall am delighted. Needed a win like that. Scrappy and last minute and what a reward for it. A semi final yet again...cant wait!
  19. Both Tremarco and Watkins gave credible displays in the 45 minutes they played. Its good to know we have that shuffling option should we need it.
  20. Watkins and Tremarco look promising players, major positive to take from what we saw. We looked like we were gaining momentum up until half time which was probably the most disappointing thing about the game being called off. Its all a bit of a laugh but deep down I'm actually quite annoyed about this. Put a lot of stuff off so I could get to this game and we looked like we could go on to win it. All in what could have been I guess...
  21. Friday Footie After the mystique and subterfuge of #cornergate last weekend, we can settle down for the relative calm of a Highland Derby at The Global Energy Stadium. That's Victoria park, Dingwall for those that are struggling to keep up. The first local derby of the season is here and neither side can claim to be in the best of form. County have two wins in their last four games and Inverness fare slightly worse, with one out of four. After our blistering start to the campaign, we seem to have stalled somewhat and let's hope that last weekends absurd officiating will be the end of our poor run. We were soundly beaten at Perth, and lost out fair and square at Pittodrie in a tight encounter, but the outcome of the Partick game was out of our own hands and has left a nasty taste in the mouth. Nine points and seven places separate the two sides in the SPFL table. Inverness have won twice as many games as County with six wins. This is evident in the respective goals for and against totals with County shipping the most goals in the league to date, whilst Inverness are second top scorers with sixteen goals from their opening ten fixtures. However, Inverness have lost the services of box-to-box midfielder James Vincent through injury and that has coincided with our recent mini slump. County have also lost a formidable player in the shape of former ICT stalwart Grant Munro who has decided it's time to look to the future and leave the pressures of top flight football behind. Good luck to Grantie, a great performer for both clubs over the years and he leaves both sets of fans with some great memories. And to whet your appetite for this game, someone has created the worst ever advert for a football match anywhere in the world, but don't let that put you off. Stagnation! AJS has been busy penning this preview for the first derby of the season, read on.................... Derby Day, Round One It was a little over a year ago on a wet, cold, Friday night (much like tomorrow is predicted to be) that ICT and Ross County battled out the first ever Highland Derby in the top flight of Scottish Football. That match saw the home side come out on top in a 3-1 win. It was a match that was action packed. Cracking goals, dodgy decisions and the Derby sub plot of Iain Vigurs forgetting which fans to celebrate in front of. It was also inches away from producing the most appropriate and well executed own goals ever seen in football. It ultimately set the tone of what was to follow as last season served up five more derbies throughout that served up so many memories that will live long amongst the ICT support. The topsy turvy 3-3 draw at The Global Energy Arena in the Scottish cup was arguably the most hotly contested game both sides have ever produced. Richie Foran snatched a replay (with the help of Phil Roberts' bawsaq) after Richard Brittain thought he had grabbed the winner with a lofty free kick. Just 2 moments from a game that produced so much and probably saw half my life away through sheer anxiousness. As said the Caley Jags made the most of their remaining seconds in the game and took the Staggies back to TCS where Billy McKay ran the show, netting a double in a 2-1 win. A 0-0 draw followed in the league at Victoria Park before another 2-1 win for ICT at home. One remaining derby game followed and it was also decided by the powers to be as the game to end the season. ICT needed a win in order to clinch the remaining Europa League spot while Derek Adams and his men were out to get one over on their rivals at the 6th time of asking. In what was a cagey affair County finally got their way. Grinding out a 1-0 win with a stunning strike from Andre Hainault (who was a right back strangely enough.) Both teams huffed and puffed but ultimately the first goal proved to be the winner. County had finished 5th with ICT 1 place above in 4th. Despite missing out on Europe I think its safe to say that many saw last season as a major sign of progress. The post match party in the away end certainly emphasised that thought as many chanted, danced, jumped, bounced and staggered their way around the stand before being invited to leave by the authorities around an hour later. Ross County had a debut season in the Premier League to be immensely proud of too having made the Top six and finished in a well respected 5th spot. They also had an impressive unbeaten record against Celtic at home which included a 3-2 win against the Champions, overturning a 2-0 deficit. A result we are no strangers to ourselves. However on the back of such a fine season it was inevitable that interest in the clubs better players would grow and the temptation to head down south would prove too good to refuse. As the season ended the club was quickly cherry picked with key players such as Iain Vigurs, Paul Lawson both departed for Motherwell while Andre Hainault and Evangelos Ikonomou also left the club for pastures new. Richard Brittain had also agreed to leave the club and join St Johnstone earlier in the season but changed his decision in a transfer dispute that was the first of its kind with both clubs claiming ownership. The reasons behind his decision to stay were well documented and in the end the right action was probably taken with him remaining at County. It raised questions however about both the Bosman rule and necessary steps to take in regards to press releases regarding player situations. There is no question that keeping quiet for so long did not help Brittain's case, if anything it put him under more scrutiny. Whatever your opinion of the story its probably something people can learn from. With several departures Ross County went through a major rebuild over the summer. New faces included former Kilmarnock loanee Ben Gordon who arrived from Chelsea, much travelled centre half Brian McLean from Dundee United, who was actually given his SPL debut by Terry Butcher in 2005 with Motherwell, and ex St Mirren midfielder Graham Carey who is well known for his long range strikes. A small Dutch contingent has also developed in Dingwall as four Dutch players were trialled and subsequently signed over the summer. Melvin de Leeuw has probably established himself the most out of the quartet. De Leeuw himself has chipped in with a few goals while Maatsen exploded onto the scene with a screamer at Parkhead on the opening day. Both players will need close attention in tomorrow nights encounter. Both teams have stumbled slightly in terms of form. Ross County probably more so. They were well respected for their strong defensive unit last season, but particularly at home they have struggled to keep it closed at the back. I'm sure most of us saw the drubbing they were handed by United in front of the Sky cameras. However they have also notched up some important wins at home against the likes of Aberdeen and St Mirren that has seen them push up the table from the relegation zone, Derek Adams will be looking for a response from the loss at Kilmarnock though. Terry and the boys will be looking at this game as the ideal way to bounce back from defeat to Partick at the weekend. In a game overshadowed by controversy Partick became the first team to take points away from TCS this season. It was not a game that ICT played poorly in. Chances were created and goals were even scored but the result was not to be. It only adds to the thrill of the chase tomorrow night however. As well as local pride both teams will be eager to get back to their best and produce the type of form that has seen them receive such high acclaim previously. There is no questioning the quality that either team possesses, my only hope is that they are given the opportunities and freedom to show that and produce what I'm sure many hope will be another classic Derby. Also just to quickly mention, to any neutrals or BT subscribers on here. If you have seen BT's horrific advertising of the game please don't be put off. Talking stags don't actually exist in Ross-Shire (I think) and it really is a football game that you will be watching tomorrow night. AJS Prediction :- Both teams need the points for different reasons but need them nonetheless. The last two trips to Dingwall have been rather cagey affairs but I think in light of recent form and what's at stake both teams will make a go of it. Its been a long time since we last won in Dingwall too but Derbies are usually renowned for throwing stats out the window. I don't want to jinx it by calling a win however so I will go with a well earned 2-2 draw.
  22. Melvin Holwijn was the other Dutchman in question. Never saw him myself but seemed to divide opinion. He played one game for Barnet last season. Thats about as high as he got.
  23. I can take the defeat. I wouldnt be a football fan if I couldnt. Its the nature of it all that leaves me feeling bitter (not Adams bitter though, dont worry.) Dont get me wrong we werent flawless. We allowed Partick too much time and space which is what got them their goals, with a little help from Deano who with the exception today has been more or less flawless since he joined. He may have cost us a point but Euan Norris and his genius of a linesman cost us 3. The fact he and his officials dont know all of the rules they are allegedly meant to be enforcing says it all. Anyone who has watched it back will clearly hear Draper say "Ive taken the corner" Why oh why does he wait till the attack has played out and goal has been scored... I was so glad to see us reply instantly after half time. Osbourne should have gone. He was on a yellow card and pushed Draper, nice bit of consistency. But great delivery and good leap from Warren. His first goal at TCS. Thought we would kick on and the sad thing is we did. Forans header was well taken but a sudden gust of wind was enough to send Fox sprawling (a recurring theme all afternoon). If anything he was fouling Billy. Had his hands all over him. Both teams made a go but I thought we would eventually get out in front but it didnt happen. Real howler from Deano but I dont want to be too critical of him. He has done so well since he arrived and hes human. Hope he bounces back. We pressed for the equalizer but it didnt come. We were unlucky from the set pieces we gained late on in the game. No idea why Norris pulled the free kick back on Polworth. Boy had a great chance on goal. Greenhalgh did ok today. Unlucky not to score with his effort and stuck in a few good crosses. Watkins looks like a good option too. Good burst of pace and on initial view a good work rate. Looking forward to seeing more of him. Vincent was missed today at both ends of the pitch. Partick found a lot of space at times with ease and there were also lost causes that werent chased down that he would have gone for. Got to shrug this off. We didnt lose today on poor play. Can let off steam by saying what we say but the reality is that it wont change the outcome. Got to dust ourselves off and prepare for the invasion of Dingwall. Bring it on!
