  1. That first half was one of the worst I've seen since the dark days of Brewster. We did not take Aberdeen seriously enough. They are one of the best teams in the league this season but they rolled us over with ease. Nice to see Robson hasnt matured with age, still dedicates his time to winding up supporters when he scores. The Shinnie at right back situation needs to end now. He got sussed very quickly. 3 out of the 4 goals came from Aberdeen cutting in from that side. Raven plugged the gap and should probably go back there and stay. Some folks near me were chanting Yogi out which Im glad to say provoked a strong reaction from people around them - did not see them again after half time. Whatever Yogi said at Half time worked. A lot more fight was shown 2nd half. 2 well taken goals from Billy and a stunning header from Shinnie. Could have been a well snatched point if Drapers header hadnt hit the post. Nevertheless it was a very spirited display, even without Foran who took a nasty knock at half time. Think if he has been on the point may well have been achieved. Watkins was a big miss today. His tracking back as well as his attacking skills. Williams didnt offer enough. Got pushed off the ball far too easily and shouldve been hooked instead of Nick. The response in the 2nd half was good but the first 20 minutes was nothing short of shambolic. That cannot happen again. Interesting to see how we fair against Celtic next week.
  2. R and R has a ring to it.
  3. Good move, still a solid stopper and has a wealth of experience to offer as a coach.

Understandable, I think Vernon has more goals than games started this season. That means he is a better player than Zola, there is a worse player than Scott Vernon...Zola should just pack it in now.

Calvin Zola needs a swift reminder of Warren force.
  6. Cracking day out spent with some old friends. Smooth journey and a nice pint before the game. Despite the cack weather it was a well worthwhile trip. The first half was fairly forgetful though Billy and Marley both passed up guilt edged chances while Doran nearly hit a corker before half time, forcing a top save from MacDonald in the process. Hearts saw plenty of the ball but did very little with it. Had one strike just over from Oliver and McHattie was wasteful from a free kick. A combination of dire weather and refereeing left the game a bit rigid at half time. Much more urgency shown in the second half. Ross and Watkins were looking very dangerous on the ball while Tremarco and Shinnie were also making good runs down the flanks, worth noting that Foran and Draper were breaking down anything thrown at us through the middle. Billy has been a great player for us but today we saw his true class, lovely dummy and curling shot for the first and a cracking first time strike on his weaker foot for the 2nd. Would have had a hat trick was it not for the post saving MacDonald, it was a stunning volley and ball in from Watkins, his best game today by far. Great atmosphere and good numbers from up North and around the central belt. Must have more or less filled our allocation. Would like to note that the stewards were lovely folks today (no this isnt sarcasm). They were asking me about the game, crackin jokes and even wished me a merry christmas and safe trip on the way up - other clubs take note. This is a great start for Yogi as boss and long may it continue. January will be a busy month. Im sure we will get a host of offers for Billy but he is under contract and playing the football of his life, its vital we hold onto him. Yogi Hughes red n blue army
  7. Semi-Final Rehearsal It's another rehearsal for the league cup semi-final as Inverness travel to the capital to take on struggling Hearts. The Edinburgh club have been nothing short of whipping boys recently with Celtic putting seven past the young Jambos and Dundee United adding four last weekend. I doubt for a minute that Inverness will find the task quite as easy, but the confidence must be sapping from the young side, asked to take the strain in the SPFL, starting fifteen points adrift after administration woes put the future of the club at risk. To add more misery to the capital side, Ryan Stevenson has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring tear. John Hughes first game in charge ended in a tough no scoring draw at Paisley, Dean Brill ensuring the new gaffer took at least one point back up the A9 with a string of fine saves. That's four clean sheets in a row for the man keeping Ryan Esson on the bench. While Inverness were at Paisley, Hearts succumbed to a rampant Arab side who are gathering a bit of momentum with a series of high scoring results. However, Hearts did compound the critics with a 3-1 win at Pittodrie a month ago, only their third win of the season and their second over Aberdeen. But that's enough from me, AJS has this preview for you before the trip to Tynecastle.................... Dugout Debut Inverness travel down to the nations capital to pay basement boys Hearts a visit, with John Hughes taking to the dugout for the first time as our new boss. Yogi watched his side play out a tentative 0-0 draw in Paisley from the stands and will have had another week to tweak things to his way of liking, without "changing things too much". Hearts will be looking to add some much needed points and goals to their stats as they face the worrying prospect of hitting the festive period still stuck on minus points. December has been a wretched month for the Jam Tarts having haemorrhaged 11 goals in just 2 games as well as going into the upcoming fixture missing several key players, including Ryan Stevenson and Jason Holt who have been influential players for Gary Locke's youthful side. ICT go into the game with a near fully fit squad, James Vincent remaining the only absentee as he recovers from long term injury, but he is on the recovery trail and has been given the go-ahead to up his training.. Between the sides this season Inverness were the victors when Hearts travelled north at the beginning of the campaign, with Billy McKay netting a well taken first half double. He was denied a hat trick when his penalty was well saved by Jamie MacDonald. Meetings at Tynecastle last season dished up much entertainment, 9 goals served up and also ICT taking good results in both encounters. The first was an early meeting in the season with Hearts racing into a 2-0 lead and ICT also losing Richie Foran to a red card before half time, but our new look side bravely battled back. Andy Shinnie netted a spot kick to reduce the deficit and with time almost up a lovely exchange of play between Billy McKay and Graeme Shinnie saw the latter cut the ball back to a fresh faced, delirious youngster in Conor Pepper who clipped the ball high into the net to send the fans behind the goal into raptures and the players into delight as they had rescued what seemed an impossible result. The cup semi final against the Jam Tarts was heartbreaking, we will just leave it at that. But it sent us out on a revenge mission later the same month and we went to Tynecastle and took 3 points home. Gary Warren of all people netted a double with a couple of bullet headers, either side of Billy McKay scoring a goal. Webster and Holt were on the score sheet for Hearts but it wasn't enough and it was a hard fought and well taken result. Emphasising the grit and hard working nature of our side. Its the kind of grit and work ethic that will be needed at Tynecastle. Hearts may have a youthful side but they have shown despite recent results that they have grit themselves and during what is a real struggle for the club they are doing their best to dig themselves out of a real hole with next to no resources. Despite the lack of players on paper I'm sure Gary Locke will have them well fired up and its important we don't take it lightly. As for ourselves John Hughes has stated he won't tinker too much and hopefully he will stick to that. Our results in the last month have been terrific and I'm hoping that with him in the dugout on Saturday the players it will give the players an extra boost to go out and give their all and hopefully come away with a top result and performance. Tynecastle itself is a thoroughly enjoyable venue. One of my favourite grounds to visit. Good view, good fans and overall a great day out. Hoping to see a good support there tomorrow and for the 3 points to be heading back up the A9. AJS's prediction - Hoping our defence will stay solid and come away with a clean sheet. While up top we show the class we have shown throughout the campaign - I'm going for a 2-0 win.
  8. All his summer signings have been rubbish, they lost key players sure but his replacements have been far from good. Graham Carey is probably the only exception to that. Lord Brittain has been in poor form which wont help. Given he is one of few within their team that can actually use a football, as well as being club captain None of their strikers have scored this season, that is probably the most damning stat of all... And these reasons are why County are doing so poorly.

  12. By no means a poor result. Sounded like a real battle with both teams having chances and were it not for the woodwork could have been quite a high scoring game. Both sides are enjoying a good run of form would always have been tricky to pick out a winner. The new chapter is underway - Team Yogi.
  13. Saint Mirren are playing well at home just now. Im not surprised they are in good control of the game. The longer they go without the goal the more of a chance we will have of nicking something.
  14. Dont think it will Shearer. He will want to go back to what he is doing with the under 20's. I would expect Yogi to bring in someone he knows.

Welcome to the Highlands Mr Hughes, may your time here be successful and prosperous.
  16. I liked what he had to say in the interview. Glad he has picked up on the team spirit and seems to grasp the quality that he has inherited, as well as taking on board that change isnt necessary. If he keeps us playing good football and getting results then he has my full support - Team Yogi.
  17. Russell Latapy!!
  18. Eh AJ I told you long before the paper did mate Have you even read Tuesday's courier? Painted a very different picture to what you said last night but hey look you were right...well done I like how your stalking me for an apology, makes me feel important. You'll get one on Wednesday like you ask and when you can spell my name properly
  19. I wanted Hartley (made no secret of that) and whoever passed on the information for todays Courier needs fired...quickly. Whether we like it or not Yogi will be our new gaffer. Ive had my time to contemplate it and as a fan I feel the right thing to do is to put aside who I wanted and what I think and back him as our new boss. Im pretty baffled that the board have gone for him and can only conclude to some extent that they are settling for him. He would have been a decent appointment if we were still an aspiring mid-table side but we are that no longer. I wouldnt be surprised if he had a decent season with us on this team, its what follows that I will watch with great interest, when he makes his own signings and tries to stamp his own authority into the side. If he tries to change too much too quickly he will be gone before he begins, he will need to be patient. To some extent he has suffered from bad luck. Falkirk was his first job and he did well bringing them up and developing players like Scott Arfield, Darren Barr and to an extent the likes of Anthony Stokes, all of whom have become good players, as well as getting them to a final and keeping them in the SPL. Hartlepool was a sinking ship and he was perhaps given a raw deal at Hibs in the end (open to interpretation). If it goes well then fine, we can look back on this and laugh, if it goes wrong then the board will remember the reception this news got when it first broke out...
  20. I hope he brings Russell Latapy with him as an assistant...
  21. No wind up . You can say sorry on Wednesday Welcome to ICT John...
  22. Only after shelling out a fortune on Anthony Stokes and paying high wages to Liam Miller, as well as inheriting Mixu's team. Once the money dried up and he started buidling his own team of free bes it all went wrong..;
  23. Cant help but be really disappointed given the time it has taken to get to this decision. Hartley was my ideal choice and I think everyone elses. Yogi would be a great appointment if we were still an aspiring team looking to push up from 8th place but we are not. Hartlepool was a sinking ship but his time at Hibs started so well with money then fell apart without. That said his time at Falkirk was a success...,more or less. He gets my full backing if its his job but this was nowhere worth the wait.
  24. Could Eagle be John Hughes?
