  1. Hopefully the fixtures will be released tomorrow night after the SPL games are over.
  2. Not sure how munros will be bagged, but I can assure you, GRANT MUNRO will be in the back pocket!!!
  3. If it pans out like that then surely it would be the shortest walk in history of the Highland Marchers - Inverness to Dungwall. Unless they go via Wester Ross. Actually, we will go via Wester Ross if we get Dingwall. Already done the route planning just in case a few months back. Out to Beauly, then follow the Highland Cross route to Kintail, keep going to Kyle. (It would be rude not to spend the night in Skye as well) double back over the bridge, head north up towards Kishorn then East through Wester and Easter Ross down into Dingwall! Fair play to you guys! Brilliant.
  4. Livingston are a continuation of Meadowbank Thistle, who themselves were formally Ferranti Thistle. (Ferranti famously voted into the Scottish league aghead of Inverness Thistle in 1974). Same club but have just changed their name a few times! And location! The Danish side, Nordsjaelland were only formed in 1991 but first qualified for Europe in 2002/03. But RedCard's nailed it with FC Copenhagen!
  5. Wednesday 3rd April Highland League Ross Tokely (Fort William 1-5 Brora Rangers) Andrew Greig (Fort William 1-5 Brora Rangers) Daniel Park (Nairn County 1-4 Formartine United)
  6. To Oddquine: off topic. Your post (#77) had a 'rogue' apostrophy sitting in a blank area after your dialogue had finished...I thought it was a bit of dirt on my screen and wasted a minute trying to remove it before realising!!!
  7. But his quote about the power shift to the Highlands is true enough! And very satisfying, I might add! At the start of the season, if you'd dared suggest that the top 6 would have Caley Thistle, Ross County and the Perth club, St. Johnstone in it- but no Aberdeen, Dundee United or capital clubs, Hibs and Hearts, folk would have you turn your newspaper the other way up!!
  8. A wee update for Renegade's list. I found out that 'keeper Mathieson is only contracted until the end of the season. From this link: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/scott-mathieson/profil/spieler_193093.html
  9. Showing my age here, but you've reminded me of this classic!!! (copied/pasted from a sports website poll of worst ever Premiership players) Clumsy, inept, awkward, embarrassing and awful. Yes Ali Dia really was a one-off, but for all the wrong reasons. The Senegalese footballer, if you can call him that, managed to spectacularly con Southampton manager Graeme Souness into playing him in a Premier League match against Leeds United on the 23rd of November 1996. A bogus football agent rang Souness claiming he had a Senegal international striker available called Ali Dia who was the cousin of former world footballer of the year George Weah. Gullible Souness lapped it up and decided to give ‘Weah’s cousin’ a one month contract, handing him his Premier League debut in the match against Leeds. Dia came on as a substitute for Matthew Le Tissier after 32 minutes, but his performance was so utterly dreadful that he was substituted in the 53rd minute. Dia missed an open goal and was unable to control the ball. Anyway, after being subbed by Souness, Dia unsurprisingly never played for the Saints again. He did in fact re-surface at Gateshead several months later, only to find himself woefully off the pace required at Conference standard.
  10. ^^^ Very good point. I'd, naively, not thought of that!
  11. Yeah, that's correct. I was looking at this years draw as well and noticed St. Johnstone got Turkish opposition - my memory of it being regionalised is maybe from a few seasons back. It didnt appear at all regionalised this year!
  12. The Scottish Sun has not ruled out backing the Yes campaign nearer the time. It would be a major fillip for the independence drive as the power of the media is widely accepted as having considerable influence when it comes to voting intentions. It was the Sun wot won it!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-22014293
  13. Winning 3-2 with 10 men from 0-2 with 25 minutes to go is terrific! And Shane Sutherland on the scoresheet again! I hope we can get him signed up for next season- I feel there's more to come from him. Great info from lukemackay- where did you find that?? I tried a few websites but couldn't get any info except for the times of the goals!!
  14. Probably the most surreal comment I've every read on here!!! A Tuesday night?/Lionel?/Kanye West!? The mind boggles!
  15. Yeah, if Kilmarnock are the final team to be confirmed, it will mean an imbalance. Looks like we'll have 3 home games against a team and likewise, 3 aways against a team. We'll probably be given 2 home and 3 away which at least would make an even split over the season of 19 home and 19 away!
  16. His family moved to Dundee and he went with them. He's fairly developed this season. I can see Strachan having a look at him at some stage.
  17. Stuart Armstrong SENT OFF (St. Johnstone v. Dundee United)
  18. Yeah, it's mad! Falkirk could be straight into the 3rd Qualifying Round draw! To be honest, there's a fair chance that if we do qualify, our oppenents will be a team we've never heard of! (and probably vice versa!!!) We have to play one more qualifier than the cup winners!?! Thats not very fair
  19. I would love that! But it's highly unlikely to happen...clubs from the 'major' European leagues don't enter until a later stage. The only way would be if one of the English teams qualified via the Fair Play route. Here's a list of 41 teams for the 2nd Qualifying Round - our round! ( remembering that there's 39 teams to be added from the 1st Round)...making a total of 80 clubs in the draw!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_UEFA_Europa_League#Second_qualifying_round
  20. Would love Dublin! Interestingly, finishing runners-up to Celtic in the SPL doesn't give that team an advantage over the 3rd placed team. 2nd and 3rd both enter at the same stage in next season's Europa draw. The Scottish Cup winners (or beaten finalists if Celtic lift it) start a round later. It'll likely be 'regionalised' in the early rounds...so maybe a Scandinavian team or one from the Baltic countries!
  21. Coventry City had a hideous brown strip in the distant past! And Morton have tried the tartan look! But brown with tartan?! I still like the strips you posted in a previous unrelated thread, CaleyD!!
  22. Saturday 30th March 2nd Division Paul Sheerin (Forfar Athletic 2-4 Arbroath) 3rd Division Stuart Leslie (Queen's Park 0-1 Elgin City) Rory McAllister TWO GOALS (Peterhead 2-0 Annan Athletic) Highland League Gary Farquhar (Fort William 1-5 Buckie Thistle) Lewis MacKinnon (Fort William 1-5 Buckie Thistle) Zander Sutherland (Huntly 1-1 Brora Rangers)
  23. PullMyFinger, County are NOT yet guaranteed top 6!!! Rasczak's Post #16 shows the scenario.
  24. Thanks for your response, PullMyFinger. You better watch what you say, or you might get Bann(erman)ed from the thread!
  25. Question for PullMyFinger. What was your take on the recent Glasgow University mock poll? Was it 38 - 52? I expected it to be closer than that with predominantly 'young' voters! I've a niece and nephew aged 21 and 19, who don't follow politics closely but who have assured me, will be voting for independence! Getting 16 and 17 year olds eligible to vote would be a huge advantage to the Yes campaign, I think.
