  1. Jim Duffy got Dundee relegated in 1994 and couldn't get them back up. He then managed to get Hibs relegated, before a triumphant return at Dens where he, eh, took them out of the SPL again! No thanks.
  2. Says more about Stevie Crawford than it does about us, to be honest. He's apparently been offered a player-coach deal with East Fife, he is coming to the end of his career, they pay decent wages and he lives locally. He's also done very little for years at an SPL level.
  3. I've always wanted to go to a match up there.
  4. I don't think County will win the First Division.
  5. He's an utter lunatic. Would make Saturdays in Love2Love, or whatever that dive is called nowadays, more interesting :015:
  6. I would like to see at least one more defender come in. Good points from reading blurb from other fans who've seen him, he's strong, pacy, good in the air and has a long throw. bad points, he has a poor touch and is inconsistent.
  7. Apparently Spartans new ground doesn't cover all the requirements - something about fans needing to walk across the front of it to take their seats? I, along with posters CaleyKing and Mantis, watched Edinburgh City v Clach in last seasons Scottish cup - an absolutely abysmal game. See you next season Mantis? :015:
  8. I think Craig Brewster has a pretty good record of signings as a manager. Here is a full list of players he has signed: ICT - First spell Bajram Fetai - Didn't contribute anything but we weren't really hurt by signing him. Craig Dargo - A great signing, scored 30 odd goals in two seasons. Alan Morgan - Not a bad signing, had a few decent games from the bench but didn't grab a place. Dennis Wyness - Had a great spell during his first season back but eventually proved to have run out of time. Dundee Utd Steven Robb - Didn't get a change at Tannadice due to injuries. Craig Conway - Again, hasn't had a chance with injuries but has shown real promise. Noel Hunt - Fantastic performer for Dundee Utd, scoring 25 goals in two seasons. Now on radar of Championship clubs. Christian Kalvenes - A great signing, solid and reliable defender. Off to Championship. David Proctor - Didn't settle at United, no impact. Lee Wilkie - Big risk signing but after a spell out on loan United's defence has been built around him. Grant Smith - No impact, total fail. ICT - Second spell Phil McGuire - Performed poorly during the latter part of last season but had a stabilising impact when he first came in. David Proctor - Given us valuable cover in a number of defensive positions. Good squad player who could develop. Zibi Malkowski - Signed as cover, didn't cover himself in glory when he stepped in. Dougie Imrie - A promising player from the lower leagues who has assets (pace, attitude) to improve. From what I can see, only Dougie Imrie, Noel Hunt and David Proctor cost any money.
  9. He went to school in Golspie I think.
  10. I wouldn't want any of the players Ross County have signed. Daal was a disaster at St Johnstone, Scott morrison has flattered to decieve his whole career, Steven Craig has a very poor record, Richie Hart never performed consistently in the SPL and Richard Brittain did nothing in two seasons at St Mirren, albeit he suffered from injury. With regards to the Barrowman wait, that's the nature of football these days - out of contract players can pick and choose who they sign for and when they go there, especially if they are negotiating from a position of strength, like Barrowman. Regarding signing lower league players, that's the market we are in and it's the market we have been in since promotion to the SPL. We are basically in a position to sign players who have been let go by bigger (or more established) clubs (Dargo, Black, Wyness) or we can take a chance on players from lower leagues (Bayne, Dods, Rankin, Cowie, Imrie, Paatelinan). I don't think we've done badly out of this in the last five years or so.
  11. He'd be a great signing. However, if he was interested in coming to us and we could afford him, most other SPL clubs could and we'd be outbid.
  12. The moments after the winner against Hearts at Tynecastle were amazing, a good old fashioned bounce about. Someone from the row above barrelled into me, knocking me on the deck, Mixu and Markus were going mental in front of me, that ginger Jambo in the main stand bursting a blood vessel :001:
  13. Why do people rate Bamba, he's garbage.
  14. Our current youth players come up playing against a better standard of player than our Under 19s did when we were in the lower leagues. Also, of the young players mentioned by CaleyD five have been selected by Scotland at either Under 19, Under 20 or Under 21 level (Dale Gillespie, Guy Kerr, Zander Sutherland, Iain Vigurs and Rory McAllister) - this suggests that they are being judged as among the top players in their age group in the country. It's also pleasing that several of our young players have gone out on loan to get experience in the lower leagues, which we haven't really done before. Zander Sutherland and Garry Wood will hopefully have developed a lot by playing in a more competitive, physical league. Also, Ian Vigurs played for Elgin in the 3rd Division when he was 16 so has that experience under his belt. As well as this, although reserve football isn't as competitive or beneficial as first team football, you can't argue that our young lads don't play at a reasonably high level in the SPL reserve leagues. A lot of the players in these games have a lot of first team experience - I watched a game on Celtic TV once (get it as part of Setanta package along with Huns TV) and Celtic's reserves had Derek Riorden and Steven Pressley in it, both internationals!
  15. It's a disgrace - why weren't you studying you skiving wee git? :018: :016: I don't know much about this side of things at the club as I haven't been to a home game in a while but what is Mike Smith's job, what value does he add to the club? I think taking a 'Brewster Out' banner is stupid but for an employee of the club to behave like that is poor.
  16. Rory has not made 30 starts. :017: Did Darran thomson make 33 starts for us?
  17. No-one has scored more than four against Gretna this season and they had been on a run of three draws. Obviously they are a rancid team but it's a good result for us. Six different scorers as well - always good.
  18. 3600 odd the crowd - very surprised, I was expecting around 1000 less than that.
  19. jay7, I'd imagine that Wood will be spoken to after Montrose finish up the play-offs. I am pleased that we have given these guys a chance - all have represented their country and have shown promise. Rory McAllister takes some ammount of abuse considering he has been a fringe player at best during his time in the first season picture. He has only made eight starts in the league. In all his sub appearences the vast majority have been for short stints at the end of games, always a hard situation to impress in. He has a pretty decent scoring record in the SPL reserves as well.
  20. Agree with that, he was superb. Moravcik was a great player as well, especially when he was scoring goals for us :015: Larsson, obviously. Celtic signed Henrick Larsson and Lubo Moravcik for a TOTAl of one million pounds, the same that Aberdeen paid for Paul Bernard and Hibs splurged on Ulysses de la Cruz. :010:
  21. Barry's Robson and Wilson, both brilliant.
  22. Surely it's a case of 'he who pays the piper'? Alan Savage would ahve known that most of the shares in the club are owned by David Sutherland/Tullochs before he took the job. What else is being said in the interview, for us South based types?
  23. I'd imagine that the loan agreement specifies a date, which will probably be the date of the 3rd Division Play-Off final. Wouldn't be hard to agree an extension or early return either way. This would mean that Garry Wood can play for Montrose in the play offs but Zander can come back after Saturday.
  24. -------------Fraser------------- --Tokely--Proctor--Munro--Hastings --Wilson--Cowie--McBain--Imrie--- --------Wyness----Niculae----------- Subs: Zibi Kerr Vigurs Black Gillespie Paatelinan McAllister
