  1. When I was 'studying' for my dissertation (A Comparitive Analysis of the Committee Systems of the Welsh Assembly and Scottish Parliament, fact fans) I used to relieve the boredom by perusing the Stirling University's library copy of 'Against All Odds' by some teacher-hack (jack of all trades master of none? :004: ). I'm sure I remember that the early chapters spoke of an attempt to form an Inverness Celtic merged outfit. Doubt some of the anti-merger crew would've taken to that name! :015:
  2. To say he should get the whole of next season isn't sensible. You can't look that far in advance. I have doubts about Charlie - he was probably the best candidate at the time but he has shown inexperience at times. This whole episode was unnecessary and makes him look a bit lost as an SPL manager. However, he has also coaxed some excellent performances from the team this season and his only major signing has come good with some excellent performances. Markus looks like a good addition as well, although it's early days. The real test for Christie comes thsi summer - we need to rebuild our defence and attack. We have the potential for a very interesting midfield with the likes of Cowie and Black in the middle with Rankin, Paatelinan and Sutherland providing threats from out wide. If we can recruit 2/3 solid defenders and a couple of pacey strikers I will be optimistic.
  3. I live 10 yards from Easter Road (the street) and about 500 yards from the ground, the ******* kept me awake all of Sunday night with their pished Proclaimers songs and tooting horns. :015: Brilliant stuff from the Hibees.
  4. depends on the chunks .... I agree that posting the last 6 or a set of 6 from anywhere you choose might be manipulated to suit the result you want to achieve in your point. However, splitting it into 3 groups of 11 is realistic enough ... its one game against each of our divisional opponents and then another set of 11 games against the same opponents and another etc etc etc. Maybe but you could pick eleven consecutive games from any point and make judgements on that.
  5. Dividing up the season into chunks of games and then using this to 'prove' points is not a serious way to analyse performance. I don't think anyone could argue that we had a terrible run of form in the middle of the season, going nine games without a win in between beating Falkirk and Rangers. However, outwith this period we have done alright this season. We are, at the moment, a side who are aiming for challanging for a top six spot whilst looking to maintain our distance from the bottom of the table. Charlie may have failed to get us into the top six, but he has steered us clear of relegation, barring miraculous a turnaround. Since we got into the SPL we have been an 'up and down' team - we barely totted up any points before November in our first season then went on a run and fell back again after the split. In our second season we had a good run of games but managed to last until a third of the way through the season to win at home. This season we have put together good performances and results but have had poor runs, mainly the period towards the end of 2006 where we didn't win for nine games. However, I do share some of the concerns regarding Charlie, especially the way he has apparently reacted to this defeat. It was a terrible result but to apparently throw about talk of quitting the club isn't the way to motivate players. As said previously on this thread rebuilding the team over the summer will be of vital importance. We are sure to lose our captain and our leading goalscorer with others possibly leaving as well. To do this with an inexperienced manager is a risk especially as we hear talk about improving salaries etc. If we are saddled with expensive duds and go down it could be a disaster for the club. If we only lose Dargo and Dods we need to bring in at least 2/3 defenders and a new striker. As I said somewhere (might even be on this thread :015: ) Hibs paid £100,000 for Rob Jones and got a fantastic defender, captain and leader. There are bargains out there if you look hard enough - even Paatelinan and Rankin from the lower leagues seem to have done pretty well.
  6. We need to get some defenders in. Dods is leaving and whenever McCaffrey plays we lose goals. Hibs signed Rob Jones for £100,000 from the English League Two, get some feelers out for a similar sort of player. It's pretty obvious that Dargs is off as well and McSwegan will probably be freed. We need to sign two strikers, preferably wtih a bit of pace.
  7. Get in Markus. Tom Parratt sent off for Hamilton.
  8. Let's hope Charlie does a Brian Clough next time and starts battering any boo boys :015:
  9. Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea etc all have huge numbers of young players going through their academies. There's certainly a chance he'll get 'lost' in the mix. Good luck to him if he signs though.
  10. I had the misfortune of being in a pub when several of the Inverness true Blues returned from a trip once. Several of them had terrorist logo's on their polo shirts, the UVF to be accurate. With this in mind I contacted the Israeli security services to advise them that these terrorist sympathisers would be making as visit to Israel and they have just bulldozed their houses down. Nice one Shin Bet!
  11. Players from Kazakhstan eh?
  12. I thought we could have got a 0-0 draw, but I wouldn't say we were robbed. In the first half I didn't think Hearts offered much at all and I was quite confident in the second half that we'd push on and take the game to them. However, we were very poor in the second half, the midfield was non-existant and the strikers isolated. Kingston seemed to have an exclusion zone around him, such was the space he was given. Even when we got up and put balls into the box we didn't attack the ball with sufficient aggression. the throw-ins from Grant were well delivered but you need to get players attacking the ball - it's not like we are a team of midgets! I'd give pass marks to the back five, graham bayne did well but had little to work with but the rest of the side didn't do well at all. It's very frustrating as it's a game I think we could have won if we'd shown more invention going forward and with Killie and Falkirk both losing it's a real missed opportunity to push us right into contention for a top six spot.
  13. Was that you with the Finnish flag Rig?
  14. ictchris replied to big man's topic in Caley Thistle
I think that's changed. I used to live up that way and the 35 goes through Princes Street roughly on that route. My brother's stag day will now include this game :001:

Pretty sure he was there until he was 16.
  16. He didn't nail him. he made a fair challange for the ball, Grady stamped on him and inexplicably both were sent off. Prior to that match we were top of the league and Russell had played in jsut about every game. He then was suspended and subsequently injured as we fell away from the title race.

  18. I think he had problems getting fit at County as they dont' play reserve games.
  19. I have liked Russell Duncan since he played a pivotal part in our success in 2002/03 playing the holding role. He has had difficulties in the SPL but has also produced some excellent displays. I thought he looked good against Celtic from the telly and he was excellent in the last game I was at, the St Mirren match on New Years Day. He is also capable of a good ping, superb goal and hilarious celebration :015: Russell played as a striker for Scotland Under 16s and I believe was a record breaking goalscorer as a youngster :010: Get him and McSwegan upfront Christie! :004:

I can't ******* go as my brother is having his stag weekend that day :008:
  21. Get in Russell. He's been playing well recently I think.
  22. Paatelinan is cup-tied.
  23. You would'nt have signed some of our ex-players over the years (and continue to do so) if we were so backwards. As others have said, you have to look closer to home to find out your real problems in terms of bringing through players. Unfortunately it can be argued you are still a diddy club off the pitch. Portacabin for a club shop anyone? Window salesman as director of football? Former basketball clown as chief executive? And Ronnie Duncan? You're right, we are so terribly run it's embarrassing. All our board have managed to do in the last three years is put together a promotino winning side, negotiate our way into the SPL, strike a deal to get us back to Inverness, build a stadium in record time, secure hundreds of thousands of pounds for managers leaving onlyto replace them with better, more successful ones and secure more funding for the club, all while maintaining SPl status. It's a ******* disgrace - sack the board! :008: :015: Of the ex-County players at our club most were released by County - Roy McBain, Stuart Golabek and Richie hart certainly were, while Graham Bayne wasn't offered a new contract. Watching these guys play in the SPL must be a bind to the County fans, especially when they have had to watch the likes of McGarry and Hannah instead :015:
  24. I had thought we might have seen Vigurs on the bench this season. He played a bit for Elgin in the Third division which is a big thing as the physical side of the game and the 'edge' will be much more than in the SPL reserves.
  25. Called up to the Scotland U19s. Official site
