On Saturday Richard Hastings was injured and Grant Munro had to play at left-back. Either Golly or Morgan could have slotted in better. Morgan can also play on the left of midfield, I can't understand why he hasn't been tried out there this season. Do we have replacements for these guys if they were to go?

The members club was a relic of the merger and the wrangling that went through that. I don't think that it's right to have a closed shop club holding shares. At least the Supporters Trust is open for new members to join, although as noted our fans are difficult to enthuse. Why not a mailshot to all season-ticket holders t raise some interest?

It's difficult to know how to feel after that. On the plus side we played absolutely brilliantly for the first half-hour, as Charlie said the best we've done since getting into the SPL. Ian Black looked back to his best form, Rankin had a decent game and we were playing some clever stuff up front with Wyness and Dargo linking well with each other and the midfielders. However, our defence, which is the bedrock of our SPL survival for the past two years was awful. The worrying thing about it is we don't have that much defensive cover. Rosscoe hasn't looked at his best all season but in pre-season we sold Proctor to United and Parratt to Hamilton. We seem to be on the verge of letting Golly gom on loan or permanantly, but if Hastings gets injured then we are playing Grant at left back. We are linked with central midfielders - we don't need them, we need defensive cover. We have now not won in eight matches and have lost our last three against Motherwell, Dundee utd and Kilmarnock. That is relegation form and only a win will really do next week. If we lose we are four points off the bottom, win and we're ten away. As whoever said, it's a proper six pointer.

Don Cowie and Mark McCulloch from the feeder club. This Buchanan guy sounds interesting, he's scored a few in the Second Division.

Are we contractually obliged to sign only County players? McCulloch is a good First Division player. Cowie is unproven. We signed their best player, by all accoutns, and he hasn't consistently impressed yet.

In today's Metro, Charlie is quoted as saying that Cowie is a good young local player but he doesn't want to talk about him as he's under contract.

According to the County site the Highland Snooze has Mark McCulloch joining us in January. Not the best signing if you ask me.

I went to Uni in Stirling and always meant to get to an Albion game but never managed it, so I'm glad we've drawn them. I look forward to revisiting my student haunts :015: As I went to Uni there I tend to keep a look out for the Bino's results and they seem to be flying this season, hot on the heels of the perpetual bottle merchants Morton in the Second Division. They have Colin '1000 Clubs' Cramb up front and an influential Slovakian Marek Tomana in midfield. Sharper brained readers may remember we were linked with Cramb during our first season in the SPL and I believe he said that he had the chance to go back tot he SPL but it didn't suit him so there could've been something in it. Anyway, Albion also have a few good young prospects - Paul Nugent who was apparently interesting Dundee Utd and Hibs and David O'Brien who was subject to a bid from St Johnstone, I think. They also have a few experienced players in Myles Hogarth, who I once slagged off as rubbish when he played for Alloa - he then produced a man of the match performance and saved a penalty. they also have ex-Celtic 'star' Mark McNally at the back to add experience. Their manager Allan Moore is a 'bright young prospect' who was linked with the Dunfermline job but has stayed loyal to the Binos despite coming under pressure after a pish start saw the Forthbank club stranded at the bottom of the table. However, a win over Morton saw Stirling go on an amazing run in which they climbed the table faster than colobus monkeys on speed and only narrowly missed out on a play-off spot. These are exciting times on and off the pitch for the club - only recently a consortium of Stirling businessmen has been in discussions with unloved chairman Peter McKenzie to buy the club and take control of the ground. All in all a difficult tie - hopefully we take down a merry band of travelling fans and get a good atmosphere going, i.e. all get pished up in the Albion Bar before stuffing them 8-0, heading back into town for a swift eighteen pints and then onto the Fubar to drink more while avoiding flying chairs. Oh and which oldster Caley fans remember the crowd trouble last time Caley played Stirling in the cup? I recall hearing tales of the teams been taken off the Brockville* pitch due to extra-curricular boxing on the terraces and of Stirling town centre being awash with drunken ICI hardnuts. :010: Do you have an alibi? * The game was played at Brockville as Albion, at that point, had a QPR plastic pitch and therefore forfieted home advantage in the cups.

Is Keogh not injured, waiting for an operation or something? I think that clacher is right in a number of areas. I don't think we should change the back five - whenever we do we appear shaky and lose silly goals (eg Tannadice on Saturday, East End in February). I also don't think we should change up front - Dargo is still a good player despite his poor patch and Bayne gives us options with his strength of running and 'rummle them up' attitude. The midfield is the place to look for changes. I admit to speaking from a position of ignorance as I havent' been to many games this season but from what I've seen and read I think we need to inject more pace and vigour into our team, especially in the middle. Perhaps pair Black with Hart and give Sutherland a shot out wide. Perhaps get Morgan involved on the left or give Rankin a shot out there with a licence to get quality balls into the box consistently. If Keogh was fit he might be worth a shout but as I said above, I believe he's injured.

We don't have the quality to sustain the sort of form we are capable of. We are still eight points off bottom and, as Mantis said, if we get results in our next two games everything in the garden will be rosy.

The problem is that we can't score goals - 372 minute and four games without a goal after today. Denzil hasn't scored in 20 appearences in the SPL and missed several chances when given a shot last week. Perhaps it's time to give Rory a start? I'd also think about reshaping the midfield, maybe giving Sutherland or Hart a chance.

We've lost away games to two of the best teams in the country, as said before Hibs have been handing out scuddings to other sides but we did quite well against them and Celtic have now won their last 11 games. Hardly a crisis. Graham Bayne gives us options up front - he is strong, holds the ball up, challanges well in the air, makes strong runs into channels. He is playing very well this season and should be retained in the side at the moment.

Get McSwegan in for Parkhead, the mans a legend!

I'm liking Bayne's stuff this season. he seems to be using his physical attributes more and 'roughing up' opposing defenders. He is also good at chasing balls into channels and balls behind the defence. It's right that he is playing ahead of Wyness. Agree with IHE, Mark Brown's kicking was atrocious yesterday.

John Rankin was a complete passenger yesterday.

Pele for me. As said previously, took over when we were in a pretty precarious state, he brought in some fantastic players he knew from the Highland League (McArthur, Teasdale, Thomson, Stewart etc) and had us playing absolutely magnificent football. Going up the divisions he had a great eye for a player who'd been released from a 'big' club and unearthed some cracking players (Wyness, Robson, Sheerin etc). Also, the fantastic team spirit, attacking football, brilliant comebacks and cup shocks/runs. The man is an absolute legend. there is only one Pele. As for the others, Robbo won the league and the Bells Cup and has to be considered second best. Brewster was fortunate to inherit a side who knew how to play together and added a few tweaks. Charlie is doing well but it's hopefully early days and Baltacha was *****.

Brewster surely sacked tomorrow. 5-1 to Falkirk, feck me. It was bad enough when we lost 3-0 to them! Anyway, Levein to United, Brewster to Raith?

I thought the main problem we had yesterday was in midfield, where we were out of the game completely in the second half. In the first half I thought Russell Duncan did quite well, covering back, putting pressure on players and mopping up. He also won the ball and released Wilson for the goal. In the second half he was not as good, made some poor passes and was pressured out fo the game. It hought John Rankin was a total passenger, he didn't do anything of note for the entire 90 minutes. Richie Hart looked industrious when he came on, I think he perhaps deserves a run-out against Aberdeen at the expense of Rankin. We did miss Black's use of the ball though.
