Jim Hamilton was dismal for County but has been much improved with Livingston and Motherwell. He'd be a good signing, although as said I think it'd be the end of Graham Bayne's time at Caley Thistle.

I see Hearts have released Lee Johnson and Lee Hackett, two signings in the transfer window who didn't get a chance at Tynecastle. Johnson came with a decent reputation from England, I think he's a central midfielder. Perhaps a target should be lose Blackie? Hackett is a winger who was interesting Hibs.

Fox could benefit from moving down a level, he has shown sporadically he can make an impact. Look at how well Bryan Prunty has done in the First Division.

Gretna were paying some of their players £700/week in Division Three. I'm pretty sure that's about what our players get now. Mileson is constructing a 6,000 seater stadium out of his own pocket. Tullochs did so after obtaining loans from the Council to facilitate the work. Gretna have outbid SPL and First Division clubs for players on several occasions in the past few seasons, i.e. they outbid Falkirk for Martin Canning, they gave more money to Stevie Tosh than anyone else could, they gave James Grady more cash than the likes of Dundee or St Mirren could offer. Since Tullochs took over we have been outbid on players wages on numerous occasions - Derek Adams got more money from Livingston, Gary McSwegan/Jim Hamilon more from County, Steven Robb more from Dundee. If Tullochs had invested at a similar level to Mileson I doubt that would've happened. This is absolutely NOT a criticism of Tulloch's though. They have allowed us to develop as a club and given us SPL football in Inverness. Their investment in 2002 gave much needed stability and the stewardship of their board has seen us progress from strength to strength. They have refused to splurge money on wages, meaning we keep pay-day hunting diddies away from our club. I prefer that to the 'throw money at it' approach from Gretna. Good luck to Gretna and Mileson though - at least it's all his own cash and he seems alright compared to the shower of egotists and criminals running other clubs in Scotland.

Haven't seen anything on here about the ongoing turmoil in the SFL. Eight of the ten First Division clubs have held a meeting discussing their options for a breakaway league, perhaps aligning itself to the SPL in a SPL2 development. The SFL has no sponsor, no television coverage and the First Division next season only contains one club with a 'significant' travellling support (Partick Thistle). Our chairman has spoken on the issue, offering his support to the idea of an SPL2 for full time clubs outside the SPL. Here is the story from today's Daily Record: It seems that the 'big' clubs of the SFL see themselves as being held back by the 'smaller' clubs and think they can attract sponsors, TV deals etc better on their own. They would also be able to keep the profits of these deals for themselves rather than share it with the other sides. I think that creating more division and governing bodies in football is wrong. If these so-called big clubs were offering a superior product then sponsorship woudl be forthcoming, but it isn't.

Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina are currently under investigation after thousands of pages of phone tap evidence implicated all three clubs in scams to influence the choice of referees for important matches in Serie A. Currently, Juve are the Italian Champions, Fiorentina are in the Champions Leauge and Lazio are in a UEFA Cup spot. However, generally the punishment for this sort of crime in Italian football is relegation - Genoa were relegated from Serie B to Serie C last season for similar offences. If Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina were all relegated Italy's Champions League spots would be taken up by AC Milan, Inter, Chievo and Roma. The UEFA Cup spot woudl go to Palermo, who are currently down to be entered into the Intertoto Cup. If we are first reserve for the Intertoto, would this open up our entry to the tournament? It's a bit of a longshot as the investigation will no doubt take a long time and will feature appeals etc. There is also the prospect that other clubs coudl be implicated. A footnote to say that Juventus should be banned for two years or disbanded as a club. They have been 'outed' as running systematic doping programmes for their players and now are revealed to fix matches. They are the most corrupt club in European football. Juve, Juve Vaffanculo.

Proctor is a good player but if the offer from United is decent I'd let him go. We have Rosscoe and Parratt who can cover right back, as well as Stuart McCaffrey.

Duncan Ferguson is a legend, get him signed asap. We could pay two weeks of hiw wages with the extra money for finishing seventh! In the real world he'll probably retire - he loved Everton, is settled in the area (with a huge property portfolio to set him up for life) and is very injury prone, so probably won't want to put his body through any more for the relative pittance we could pay him (he was on forty grand a week until last season).
