  1. From today's Press and Journal: Perhaps this should be moved as it's not a rumour any more?
  2. I think it's more important that we keep Dods, Dargo and Brown - they are the spine of our team. Ian Black and David Proctor are good players but are replacable. ANy mention of the size of the bids?
  3. Don't worry Gordy, it's just a metaphor [img width=200 height=150]http://www.visit4info.com/sitecontent/LG/fullZZZZZZTVICL0517123021PIC.jpg
  4. Brewster was a class act as a player and did a good job as manager.
  5. I note that RiG disappeared from the forum around the time this came to light. A coincidence? Or something more sinister?
  6. I bet Footballers Wife has had more pricks than Pete Doherty's arm. :004:
  7. Did he not infamously miss a sitter against Cologne, leading to the Hun hordes turning against him?
  8. Alan Hercher? Paul Cherry? Mike Noble?
  9. David Bagan scored for Killie in Europe against Rejkayvick Darren Mackie has scored for Aberdeen in Europe.
  10. Davide Xausa scored for Livingston in Europe.
  11. Gretna were paying some of their players £700/week in Division Three. I'm pretty sure that's about what our players get now. Mileson is constructing a 6,000 seater stadium out of his own pocket. Tullochs did so after obtaining loans from the Council to facilitate the work. Gretna have outbid SPL and First Division clubs for players on several occasions in the past few seasons, i.e. they outbid Falkirk for Martin Canning, they gave more money to Stevie Tosh than anyone else could, they gave James Grady more cash than the likes of Dundee or St Mirren could offer. Since Tullochs took over we have been outbid on players wages on numerous occasions - Derek Adams got more money from Livingston, Gary McSwegan/Jim Hamilon more from County, Steven Robb more from Dundee. If Tullochs had invested at a similar level to Mileson I doubt that would've happened. This is absolutely NOT a criticism of Tulloch's though. They have allowed us to develop as a club and given us SPL football in Inverness. Their investment in 2002 gave much needed stability and the stewardship of their board has seen us progress from strength to strength. They have refused to splurge money on wages, meaning we keep pay-day hunting diddies away from our club. I prefer that to the 'throw money at it' approach from Gretna. Good luck to Gretna and Mileson though - at least it's all his own cash and he seems alright compared to the shower of egotists and criminals running other clubs in Scotland.
  12. Haven't seen anything on here about the ongoing turmoil in the SFL. Eight of the ten First Division clubs have held a meeting discussing their options for a breakaway league, perhaps aligning itself to the SPL in a SPL2 development. The SFL has no sponsor, no television coverage and the First Division next season only contains one club with a 'significant' travellling support (Partick Thistle). Our chairman has spoken on the issue, offering his support to the idea of an SPL2 for full time clubs outside the SPL. Here is the story from today's Daily Record: It seems that the 'big' clubs of the SFL see themselves as being held back by the 'smaller' clubs and think they can attract sponsors, TV deals etc better on their own. They would also be able to keep the profits of these deals for themselves rather than share it with the other sides. I think that creating more division and governing bodies in football is wrong. If these so-called big clubs were offering a superior product then sponsorship woudl be forthcoming, but it isn't.
  13. Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina are currently under investigation after thousands of pages of phone tap evidence implicated all three clubs in scams to influence the choice of referees for important matches in Serie A. Currently, Juve are the Italian Champions, Fiorentina are in the Champions Leauge and Lazio are in a UEFA Cup spot. However, generally the punishment for this sort of crime in Italian football is relegation - Genoa were relegated from Serie B to Serie C last season for similar offences. If Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina were all relegated Italy's Champions League spots would be taken up by AC Milan, Inter, Chievo and Roma. The UEFA Cup spot woudl go to Palermo, who are currently down to be entered into the Intertoto Cup. If we are first reserve for the Intertoto, would this open up our entry to the tournament? It's a bit of a longshot as the investigation will no doubt take a long time and will feature appeals etc. There is also the prospect that other clubs coudl be implicated. A footnote to say that Juventus should be banned for two years or disbanded as a club. They have been 'outed' as running systematic doping programmes for their players and now are revealed to fix matches. They are the most corrupt club in European football. Juve, Juve Vaffanculo.
  14. Is this your work? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grizzly-polar_bear_hybrid
  15. Oh dear :007: Coventry are also trying to sign Colin Cameron and Neil Alexander. They have Don Hutchison as well.
  16. Proctor is a good player but if the offer from United is decent I'd let him go. We have Rosscoe and Parratt who can cover right back, as well as Stuart McCaffrey.
  17. Duncan Ferguson is a legend, get him signed asap. We could pay two weeks of hiw wages with the extra money for finishing seventh! In the real world he'll probably retire - he loved Everton, is settled in the area (with a huge property portfolio to set him up for life) and is very injury prone, so probably won't want to put his body through any more for the relative pittance we could pay him (he was on forty grand a week until last season).
  18. I went to our friendly v Elgin City in 2004. We won 5-0. Borough Briggs is a decent wee ground, it'd be excellent if we drew them in a cup.
  19. I don't mind St Mirren. If an opposition player (effectively) ended one of our players careers with a late tackle I don't doubt htat we'd be raging about it too. I think some St Mirren fans have taken the Tokely-hate to a bit of an extreme though.
  20. Duncan Ferguson is leaving Everton at the end of this season apparently. Get him signed, if only to reduce any house-breaking in the Inverness area as County-supporting burglars run scared of Dunc's renowned crime-fighting capablilities. The extra £70,000 we got for finishing 7th will pay his wages for two weeks.
  21. Rory McAllister has just turned 18 and has only started four matches for us. He has made a number of sub appearences and has scored one goal. He has scored regularly for the reserves (does anyone have any stats for him at this level?) and has been given international recognition at Under 19 level. Martin Bavidge had a pretty similar record at the same age, but at a much lower level in the game. I have seen Rory play a few times for the reserves and he has looked far better in those games than when he's played in the first team. He shows better touch and control than he has so far in the first team. I think he often looks nervous and anxious when he gets a game for the firsts and thus makes silly mistakes. He also needs to work on retaining possession, holding the ball up. At this level it's unforgivable to have the ball come back time and again, hopefully he can work on this. Brewster saw something in him and hopefully Rory managed to pick up striing tips from Brew while he was here - say what you like about our ex-boss but he was as good a teacher for Rory as you could ask for. I do have hopes for Rory and I really hope he's given a fair crack of the whip by our sometimes fickle fans. Edited to say that I also think it's a bit early to judge him, he hasn't had much of a chance to impress. Here are the details of how much he's played this season: v Alloa - 25 minutes v Dundee Utd - 85 minutes* v Celtic - 3 minutes v DUnfermline - 20 minutes v Livingston - 11 minutes v Hibs - 20 minutes v Aberdeen - 80 minutes* v Ayr Utd - 90 minutes* v Livingston - 21 minutes v Ayr Utd - 5 minutes v Celtic - 11 minutes v Aberdeen - 4 minutes v Livingston - 11 minutes v Motherwell - 8 minutes v Dundee Utd - 9 minutes v Livingston - 7 minutes v Falkirk - 26 minutes v Dunfermline - 77 minutes* * - start That's only an average of 28 minutes per appearance and it's difficult to make an impression snatching appearences here and there from the bench.
  22. He has scored goals in the reserves and Under 19s and was in the Scotland U-19 squad, so has potential. It must be hard coming off the bench at the end of games.
  23. Hellish game. Barry's free kick was the only moment of skill in the game. Good to send Livingston down though. Their tannoy announcer was hilarious
  24. According to the daily record today we are prepating to move for Rankin in thenext week or two.
