  1. Rangers are crap.... a goal down at half-time and don't look like scoring.... McGregor is easily their best player. Their team is just crying out for a Hayes or an Odhiambo, or even a manager that could coach them in the art of sitting in deep and hitting on the break...
  2. Thanks CD.... I've been called much worse than that on here - although mainly by you! I wouldn't dispute any of your comments on TB, but don't forget his appointment wasn't just good for ICT it has proved to be very good for him too. This club gave him another chance to rebuild his football managerial career, which he gratefully accepted with open arms. What had he been doing up to that point? Working for the now defunct Setanta as I recall. I'm quite sure he was over the moon when he received that invitation from ICT. There may have been one or two hiccups along the way, but the club and TB are now appearing to exude all the attributes of a marriage made in heaven... Long may it continue..... 3rd place on Saturday will be nice.
  3. Looking forward to watching this tonight. If Rangers can get a draw or better from this game, just how good does that make ICT?
  4. A ref might wave play on where an assistant ref had flagged for an infringement. Reminds me, a few years ago listening to commentary on Radio Clyde - Derick Johnstone, I think it was, informed listeners during a game that the linesman had his whistle up for offside!
  5. Yeah, congratulations TB.... All the same I think it's important for us fans to bear in mind that this award is for services to football - and is in recognition of your very distinguished record as a player. As far as your coaching/managerial skills are concerned, I'm sure you will agree with me, that your work at ICT is not quite finished yet!
  6. Was it bad refereeing? Often you'll see a ref wave play on, after an infringement for, say, offside has taken place. If the keeper already has possession of the ball, play can be speeded up, by dispensing with the ritual of a free kick. If Gomez really did believe it was a free kick, he had rolled the ball out to a spot well away from where Nani handled the ball. If the ref was guilty of anything it might be that he didn't make it clear he was waving play on..... maybe he shouted "play on" to the players in that area of the pitch. Who knows?
  7. It does seem extremely harsh.... The wrong people are being punished through no fault of their own. This could very well be the end of the road for DFC.
  8. I would agree with Stan and IHE but would suggest with the kind of game Hayes plays he might benefit from an occasional seat on the bench or he too, could be in danger of overcooking. My team for Saturday - essentially as above - but use any two from the threesome of Ross, Hayes and Eric. Two of these guys on the field, with the 3rd one on the bench is an appealing combination.
  9. Thankfully he has over two years to run on his present contract.
  10. The moral of that one is that you should always play to the whistle.... Perfectly legitimate goal.... whether the ref should have blown for a free kick or not, the fact of the matter is that he didn't.
  11. Yeah, well said izzy.... TB and MM deserve the highest praise for the steady improvement that has been in evidence since January 2009. With the blend of youth and experience in the squad, coupled with a team spirit positively overflowing with camaraderie, who's to say how far this team can go? Well done TB and MM.... keep up the good work - there are clear indications now that you're finally getting the hang of this team management business! :ictscarf:
  12. We could have one helluva team here, if only the whole of Inverness would get behind them.
  13. John, we were attack minded from the off today I saw most of it on a video stream thingy. Looked to me like they spent much of the game on the back foot soaking up a lot of Rangers pressure, but the way they played from back to front was superb - that team performance today has to be right up there with best ICT performances of the last decade. Fantastic match - wish I could have been there.
  14. Different horses for different courses... I'd have Eric on from the start in a more attack minded set up.
  15. They're supposed to be at a chippy in Auchterarder.
  16. Great post, jrict.... Have a green dot.
  17. Excellent call on Jim Traynor's "Your Call" from Jimmy in Inverness, who said everything I was wanting to say on that programme, but couldn't get through. He was absolutely right to suggest that Walter never gave ICT any credit for their performance today - also that the pressure the OF put the refs under has become totally unacceptable. Also Traynor and the Beeb seem to forget that their programme is broadcast the length and breadth of Scotland and not everyone is obsessed with what happens in Weegieland. Does anyone know who "Jimmy" in Inverness is?
  18. Yeah, he's not quite the finished article but when he is, he'll be the hottest property in Scottish football.
  19. Think Duff will still be RB, with McCann left-mid.
  20. I can mind going to Methil several years ago to watch a cup-tie against Dunfermline. At one point in the first half the ball clattered on to the roof of the main stand. I was puzzled when all the local supporters instinctively covered their heads with their hands. I couldn't understand it, but eventually the penny dropped when everything (and everybody) in that stand became covered in a fine red/brown layer of rust. Happy days...
  21. We're on a mad undefeated run - have been since St Midden on the 25th of September.... Long may it continue!
  22. Everybody goes downhill when they leave here..... I hope Robbo will come on to this thread to say his farewells.
