  1. Malpas had his chance for the job last time around and didn't take it. He didn't do much at 'well.
  2. Owen Coyle - did a good last season; is young and ambitious, has a good knowledge and good contacts of Scottish football Steve Kenny - made a big difference to the Pars and got them to Scottish cup final Neil Warnock - has managed at a high level and is apparently interested in managing in Scotland Jimmy Nicholl - is it not time for him to leave tango man and again become a manager in his own right.
  3. Although Charlie had my support I was never particularly comfortable with his appointment due to his lack of eperience. I wish Charlie well in his future career. It's hard to talk so quickly about candidates fro the job but it has to be done and the Board must get the search underway quickly. Here are some of my suggestions: Owen Coyle - did a good job last season, he has plenty of contacts and is reasonably experienced. Steve Kenny - made a big difference to the Pars and got them to the Scottish cup final. Neil Warnock - read somewhere that he would like to manage in Scotland. He has managed at a high level - might be worth looking at. Jimmy Nicholl (Aberdeen) - is it not time that he became a manager in his own right again.
  4. I've got high hopes for Marcus. I hope his injury is not too serious.
  5. If the defence can concentrate for 90 minutes and keep it tight and solid, then a point or three will come our way.
  6. His goal against Clyde changed the course of history for this club and accordingly he is due a great deal of credit for this act alone. However, his consistency and fitness was a problem and these factors, IMO, meant he did not fulfill his potential. Good luck to him in whatever career he decides to go with.
  7. Fantastic news - the season ahead is now looking a lot more rosy.
  8. Just in case it has not been mentioned elsewhere, I gather that the appeal will be held on Wednesday.
  9. Judging by the lack of responses to this thread, it would seem that good news is of little interest.
  10. Kingsmills, I wished I shared your confidence on the granting of a permit. I fear that it will take a considerable time for the appeal to take place; and may well end not in our favour. Here's hoping that I'm wrong on both counts. Does the club have a plan B if the permit is not granted ie are they going to look for another forward - even with the arrival of Dean we are still light on forwards.
  11. When I said the story will go public tomorrow, I meant to say: the club will go public tomorrow (ie Friday 27th) with the current position on the permit.
  12. There is a major problem with the granting of a work permit due to Marius not having played enough international games over the last 2 year. I'm afraid to say that there is a major doubt as to him being granted a permit. The club is now taken legal advice and will ask for an appeal to take place if he does not get a permit. This is not a wind up, and the story will go public tomorrow.

I would also like to thank Scotty and Caley D for all the hard work they put into this site.
  14. In terms of his (alledged) higher wages as compared to the rest of team - well none (apart from RH) are internationalists and he is a striker that has played at a high level. I would be disappointed if the rest of squad cannot accept that Niculae is a class act who will accordingly attract a higher wage. Time will tell how this signing shapes up, but for me it is a risk worth taking. The signing of a decent striker was going to result in the breaking of the wage structure, the club could not wait in the hope that someone at a lower wage bracket would turn up. All the other SPL clubs have made good signings - we risked getting left behind.
  15. The last time I was as excited as this with a signing was when Pele was appointed manager. This has got to be the most ambitious signing this club has made in its short history. We've now got real competition for paces up front and things lok a whole lot rosier for the season ahead. A big :clapping03: to the Board and CC pulling this off. I also think that Dean will benefit from Niculae's arrival because the spotlight will not be on him and thus less expectation. Bring on the 4th August...
  16. Yes TB did have a kick about at the Caledonian Stadium at the start of the 97 election campaign. His presence did not go down well with arch Tory (and ICT fan) Jock Thornton who wrote a letter to the Courier complaining about the stadium being used for electioning purposes.
  17. It's good to get handed an easier opening fixture for a change :017:

How about "Sit Down" by James :004:
  19. Golly, thanks for your big contribution to ICT. I will always remember your goal against Dunfermline that kickstarted our SPL adventures.
  20. I can see next season being tougher than this season and there won't be any obvious relegation candidate (and that includes Gretna). For next season Dundee United will be a far stronger and consistent team and they will be comfortable mid-table. Falkirk will do similiar to this season. Motherwell have been or are close to being bought over and may very well have a bigger player budget. St Mirren wll also have a bigger player budget now that their ground will be sold, they do however face the prospect of loosing influential players. Gretna will spend big in order to get 5 or 6 good standard SPL players, the question will be how quickly can these players gel. As for ourselves, if Dargo goes, that will be a very big hole to fill. As much as I would love to get a top 6 place, I think taking the above into account we will do well to finish 7th or 8th.
  21. He's obviously not read your book, Charles.
  22. A big :021: to the players and management for ensuring another well earned season in the SPL.
  23. Agree with Kingsmills on the above.
  24. Bonzo, your ridiculous "savage" comments prove beyond doubt that you're not an ICT fan. Is life that boring over the bridge that you must come on here and inflict your inane comments on us.
  25. The signed match day ball from the day the 1st division championship was won - I'm open to offers :017:
