  1. Both SC semi finals had more than 5k ICT fans. There was also well over 5,000 fans who went to Glasgow for Celtic Scottish cup game in 2000 (the one that got posponed). Going back to CB's point, the 5,000 fans indeed consist of many folk who could not be considered Caley fans. There was a genuine hype about the replay following on from the tremendous performance at home.
  2. Scotty, I agree. We must all move forward and for the sake of ICT: get behind the team and management.
  3. Charlie made a serious error by not signing an experienced keeper when Brown left. Fraser has performed reasonably well but he is young and inexperienced - this leaves with us little option if he were to be rested as Ridgers is has less experience. I would welcome the return of Brown or the signing of another keeper next week.
  4. Charles, I agree with most of the points that you made. Although I would have liked Coyle or Warnock to be manager, I will give Brewster my full backing. I'm sure if he gets some good early results the majority of the fans will get behind him.
  5. I wish I had boycotted this thread.
  6. When GB took on the role of Director of Football in 2000 (i think) he did not receive any payment from ICT. I understand that this situation changed within the last two years and he now receives payment. This could be a good question for CaleyD to ask at the AGM next week.
  7. Experience it was this club needs at this point in time, and the man for the job is Warnock. If he is not a viable candidate in terms of salary, then I would go for Brewster.
  8. Thanks for your total commitment to ICT as manager and your good work behind the scenes. If the job was affecting your health and family life, then you've done the right thing by resigning. The club has said it will try to keep you involved in another capacity - and I hope this is the case. All the best.
  9. Robbo can be counted out of the running because David Sutherland ruled him out last time, and even though Sutherland is no longer Chairman, his view will prevail. It will be interesting to what candidates emerge. From the names mentionesd here, I give the thumbs down to: Malpas, Cooper and Alexander. I'm coming round to the possibilty of Brewster, as he could be put in post quickly; he knows the players and the league. He will also be hungry after his United experience and have a point to prove.
  10. Charles you're correct to point the Council contribution of ?900k - in addition they also applied a below market rate for the rental of the Longman land. I remember how touch and go the decision was to grant ?900k - there is no way they would have given this to Caley on its own. Caley was in my blood because my dad was a committee member for many years - so it was inevitable that I would support them. My first season supporting them home and away was 1976/77. I t was a good season to pick as we won the league and a cup. As for the merger, I actually voted against it because I felt (at the time) that we should go it alone. I soon realised that this view was mistaken and I have fully supported the merger ever since.
  11. Rowan Alexender - now you're talking IHE. I'm sure this will be RIG's informed choice :016:
  12. Malpas had his chance for the job last time around and didn't take it. He didn't do much at 'well.
  13. Owen Coyle - did a good last season; is young and ambitious, has a good knowledge and good contacts of Scottish football Steve Kenny - made a big difference to the Pars and got them to Scottish cup final Neil Warnock - has managed at a high level and is apparently interested in managing in Scotland Jimmy Nicholl - is it not time for him to leave tango man and again become a manager in his own right.
  14. Although Charlie had my support I was never particularly comfortable with his appointment due to his lack of eperience. I wish Charlie well in his future career. It's hard to talk so quickly about candidates fro the job but it has to be done and the Board must get the search underway quickly. Here are some of my suggestions: Owen Coyle - did a good job last season, he has plenty of contacts and is reasonably experienced. Steve Kenny - made a big difference to the Pars and got them to the Scottish cup final. Neil Warnock - read somewhere that he would like to manage in Scotland. He has managed at a high level - might be worth looking at. Jimmy Nicholl (Aberdeen) - is it not time that he became a manager in his own right again.
  15. I've got high hopes for Marcus. I hope his injury is not too serious.
  16. If the defence can concentrate for 90 minutes and keep it tight and solid, then a point or three will come our way.
  17. I rate Ritchie Hart highly and would be very disappointed if he left the club.
  18. His goal against Clyde changed the course of history for this club and accordingly he is due a great deal of credit for this act alone. However, his consistency and fitness was a problem and these factors, IMO, meant he did not fulfill his potential. Good luck to him in whatever career he decides to go with.
  19. Fantastic news - the season ahead is now looking a lot more rosy.
  20. Just in case it has not been mentioned elsewhere, I gather that the appeal will be held on Wednesday.
  21. Judging by the lack of responses to this thread, it would seem that good news is of little interest.
  22. Kingsmills, I wished I shared your confidence on the granting of a permit. I fear that it will take a considerable time for the appeal to take place; and may well end not in our favour. Here's hoping that I'm wrong on both counts. Does the club have a plan B if the permit is not granted ie are they going to look for another forward - even with the arrival of Dean we are still light on forwards.
  23. When I said the story will go public tomorrow, I meant to say: the club will go public tomorrow (ie Friday 27th) with the current position on the permit.
  24. There is a major problem with the granting of a work permit due to Marius not having played enough international games over the last 2 year. I'm afraid to say that there is a major doubt as to him being granted a permit. The club is now taken legal advice and will ask for an appeal to take place if he does not get a permit. This is not a wind up, and the story will go public tomorrow.
  25. I would also like to thank Scotty and Caley D for all the hard work they put into this site.
