  1. 1-0 to ICT with Zander finishing neatly from fifteen yards after mugging the defender on the edge of the box in second half. Bitterly cold night with little excitement to warm up the fans. Rory kept us on our toes though, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I'm afraid the lad just looks disinterested. Unable to get off the ground he all too often got bundled aside and even managed a fresh air swipe near the end. I would love to see him come good, but on this performance it does not look likely. Ally Ridgers made a couple of excellent saves and the gers keeper likewise, but we were mostly inept in the last third. Rossco and Black played but the pick of ther bunch was probably Vigurs who has a good first touch. We should have won more convincingly against a very young Rangers side but were unable to create much. Rossco had a close range try volleyed well over and Sweggers curled one wide, that was about it. Hard work, but a win all the same. Would I give Gary McSwegan another contract..............no. Black never got booked, but did injure one bloke. pffft, you beat mee to it, have you no ironing to do?
  2. Four in the running for Robbo's job at Livi are reported to be..............Butcher, Brewster,Joe Miller and Blobby Williamson. From BBC site. Apply within
  3. Took the afternoon off from my busy schedule to see how our feeder boys are coping with their predicament. Well, to be truthfull they look and played like a team destined for Peterhead. They lacked conviction, lacked cohesion, lacked flair, lacked......well just lacked. They went a goal down early on as the Diamonds started the better, with Proctor about to play a prominent part in proceedings. Twigg I believe knocked the ball in from close range. However County got themselves a foothold and a cross from the wing was bulletted home with the head to equalise. Just as I was warmly applauding the stunning strike at the far end, the announcer spoiled it by blaming Proctor for an own goal. I almost fell asleep in the hazy sunshine as Dingwall pressed for another goal but it remained 1-1 at half time. Suddenly I was woken by the angry chants of "you're a cheat referee as in fairly quick succession about fifteen mins, difficult to tell when you are not too interested, two Gudgie coffs were sent for a badly needed early bath, McCulloch and Scott apparently. The pendulum had swung in the Diamonds favour and it was backs to the wall for the last quarter. Airdrie appeared to miss a couple of decent chances............well sitters...........and County were left hitting on the break. Game sort of fizzled out with County on the back foot but they live to fight another day. Spotted one or two ICT fans, but they will remain anonymous. Morgan played for an hour, easy to see why we don't need him, Proctor looked OK for Airdrie, OG apart, Cowie, never noticed him, maybe he is resigned to the drop and offski. The rest...............pffft, it looks like the font of footballers has run dry. On this form, County better look forward to the next step down. :020: :020: :020: Added the crowd, announced as 2717, Airdrie must have had about 350-400 fans at game.

Pay no attention to midge, the Richard Wilson of ICT and anything pertaining to Inverness. I really don't know why it bothers to call itself an ICT fan, or does it, for nothing positive ever comes out of it.
  5. re Dunfermline always poor........ .........were they not the first Scottish team to play European football when the Big Man himself, Jock Stein was the manager? Was either them or Hibs. (Wiki just told me it was Hibs......Hibernian were the first British club to appear in European competition, in its inaugural 1955/56 season. Hibernian's participation had little to do with qualification as they accepted the invitation to European competition that was declined by the four teams that finished above them in the Scottish League. Playing their first game against German side Rot-Weiss Essen, Hibernian won 4-0 in Essen and the return tie in Scotland ended in a 1-1 draw. Hibernian went on to reach the semi-finals, only to be defeated by a Stade de Reims side inspired by the great French footballer Raymond Kopa.) thanks Wik. :003: My mate Wikipedia said "Dunfermline Athletic won the Scottish Cup in 1961 and 1968, and played regular European football in the UEFA and European Cup Winners Cups throughout the 60s and early 70s. They reached the semi-final of the European Cup Winners Cup in season 68-69, losing 1-2 on aggregate to eventual winners Slovan Bratislava. On the way to the semi-final they beat APOEL, Olympiacos and West Bromwich Albion. In 1962 they reached the Cup-Winners Cup Quarter Finals. On they way they beat St. Patricks Athletic of Ireland and FK Vardar of Yugoslavia." look at this Dunfermline Athletic have played competitive European matches in the following countries: Belgium: Anderlecht Croatia: Dinamo Zagreb Cyprus: APOEL Nicosia Czech Republic: Spartak Brno Denmark: Boldklub 1903 Copenhagen England: Everton, West Bromwich Albion France: Girondins de Bordeaux Germany: VfB Stuttgart Greece: Olympiacos Hungary: Újpesti Dozsa Iceland: FH Hafnarfjordur Ireland: St Patricks Athletic FYR Macedonia: Vardar Skopje Norway: Frigg Oslo Poland: Gwardia Warsaw Slovakia: Slovan Bratislava Spain: Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Real Zaragoza Sweden: Örgryte Ok, maybe it was a wee while ago, but these teams have history, something we will achieve in the years to come hopefully.
  6. Tokely and Bazza have both picked up two game bans starting 21st April, Black will be back for second game. Bit worrying that Rossco will be out as we have little cover for him, I suppose it will be Caff to cover him and Dods returning to the heart of the defense. The games are Motherwell & Dundee United.

But we don't want his brother, is he any good?
  8. Righ, I'm not one for sitting on the fence D-D-D-D-D FIVE POINTS
  9. it was a bit garish chipper, but it seved its purpose, Falkirks strikers stayed a long way away :015: Their goal although not conclusive from the tv looked a long way offside, I thought that at the game but unless you are level with play, difficult to call. Our goal, fantastic striking from Johnny, keep it up programme was shhhhhhh, not good , last report
  10. .............but only if I can stay awake...............ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
  11. Oh dear......................it's still shhhhhh...............rubbish, but I will stick it out till I see ICT<determined smiley>

Did not think this thread was started as solely an ICT website player of the year, I thought it was just generally asking peoples opinions on who they thought were the top players this season.............. .............RIG, it's all your fault, whats the answer? I thought the web poll was an entirely different entity, but the concensus of opinion remains the same..........Bazza is the man.
  14. He'll never shoot from there in injury time, anyway it's on his left foot...............
  15. tm4tj replied to RiG's topic in Caley Thistle
These three must be pretty close to the top of the leader board. For me Barry must be made the player of the year. He is the one constant for ICT. You just know that when Barry has the ball he will generally make best use of it and is always one of the players you look to for that little bit extra to produce a goal or match winner. This will probably be Barry's last full season for ICT and he should be rewarded with this accolade. Hastings has some engine, but seldom does he produce the telling cross that troubles defenders. For all his great leading up play the end product is not there. His defensive qualities are also up for debate as once he gets forward, we are exposed at the back, a la Falkirk at the weekend. However he has definitely had a good season, I never doubted his re-signing for us and he has proved his worth, if only he could cross the ball like Robson. Grantie, his time will come. He is solid and dependable. His downfall is the famous ICT punt which does not always find it's target. He will soon be recognised as a stalwart, and will go on to become an ICT captain and legend, but this year is a year too soon for me. But, like Hastings, he has had an efficient season, probably more consistent than Dods and would be one of the first names on the sheet. Tokely has also had another solid season, often maligned for his ungamely style but still has time to cut through defenses during his mazy meandering jaunts down the wing, cutting inside defenders, then unfortunately not always delivering the killer blow. Probably just off the pace, but great season anyway big boy. Rankin has just had his best game for us against Falkirk and scored a precious equaliser. He has weighed in with some vital goals this season, and some spectacular ones at that (Rangers especially sweet) This lad could push for a podium finish next season and I look forward to him forging a good understanding with Markus. Slow start to his ICT career, but his talents are now showing through, keep it up for next year John. Hart...........I like his style and drive, especially through the middle but lack of games has meant it is not to be this year Richie. I do believe he will be like a new signing come August and hope to see more live footy from him. get your shooting boots on and hit the target please as most keepers will not know what hit them......whooooosh. Bayne..................nah, much as I like his work rate, his last few performances have been erratic and unproductive, but eleven out of ten for trying. Black...........one of the most talented players we have, but the old chestnut has haunted him too often to give him a gong. The future is bright, the future is balck. Duncan...........flits in and out of the team, has been back to his best recently but the wayward passes will be his downfall. Does the jobs that nobody elso will tackle and always looks for the ball, but please sort out the unnecessarily shocking simple passes that go awol and you will be a star.........maybe next year. McBain...........has anyone seen him. Once he puts on that strip he becomes invisible. Well thats how it appears to me, although the team missed him while he was injured so he must be doing something when he is on the pitch. No end product after some tidy play makes him an also ran. Dods...........well he is going so he gets nothing. This will not take anything away from the fact he has been outstanding since Caff's red at Killie, and has been instrumental in us still being in the SPL. However, he has his moments, the bad ones being hoofing the ball the way he is facing, but that is more than made up for in his ability to see off most strikers in Scotland. Thanks for what you have done for ICT and good luck elsewhere, but no player of the year award is going to a Dundee United player. Dargo............injuries have cutailed his proficiency this year and haqving to change strike partners so often has not helped. He is electric when on song but not enough performances, through no fault of his own, to merit the green jacket. Brown/Fraser..........Both have done their bit for the cause, Mark as we know was excellent, penalties apart and Mike has continued the good work. Next season may well be a very big one for Mike, but he seems pretty cool about it all and fair play dude. Rory................I have the right to remain silent, but I won't. The pooer loon gets a lot of stick and probably mostly justified. But there has been times when I thought we were on a winner (celtic game) and other times when I wondered what he was all about. Big strapping lad who may benefit from a loan spell and regular games in the first division, whatever, stick with it Rory you have plenty of time on your side. Keep the mantle piece clean in four or five seasons, you never know. Markus............This lad may be the dark horse for next season. I like him, (but I coulnae eat a whole one). Already has shown he has an eye for goal and would like to see him starting more games next season. Good in the air and willing to take defenders on, an ideal replacement for any old codgers we have in the team. Go Markus go............when the young dudes in the North stand work out a word to Rhyme with Paatelainen, you will be off and running. Good luck for next season and the rest of this one. Charlie Christie though gets my vote, the only man for the job.
  16. Hey olde git, yes, Rankin had one of his best games for us, playing positively in a fairly attacking role. He took his goal well and had a few pot shots close to the mark............apart from one from the right side which crossed the touchline close to the away dugout :015: The one which fizzed across the face of the goal was timed faster than the French train.......whooooosh anyway, sack Charlie now.......

Caff had a decentish game but was also guilty of the hopeful punt into oblivion on numerous occasions. Yes Harty did slice the ball wildly into touch, amusingly just after being named MoM, but overall his drive and endeavour was rewarded rightfully........ not just by me............. and is testament to his committment to ICT. I know you are not one of his fans, although you acknowleged his contribution today, but you did the same when he was given accolades against Gers only to lessen the praise with a demeaning last line. I am not really having a go at you, much as it may seem, but differing opinions are what is required. The truth will out. :016: :016: Alex, what is a matchday thread if it is not about the match on the day.................then everything gets fragmented and post like this appear on threads pertinent to the match on the day :017: It's not as far as I can see from the small print a thread about what goes on during the match, it's a thread about the match full stop.

He may be the best player on the pitch, but he certainly was not the best performer on the pitch.

car, thats a standard response from you as you have previously slated Hart on this site explicitly. We did not deserve to lose, we did draw and had do do it after conceding a mugging goal, but hey, we still did it. Hart was for me the best we had on show today.........no not just me................the radio and the sponsors MoM as well. Are you sure you are looking at the same stuff as us. And further, why not post this on the matchday thread and see what the rest think............is it create a new thread day.... Alex............it's all your fault............sack CC :015:

Alex, did you just make that up?
  23. I voted Thistle for the play offs, which means County will be in the automatic relegation spot. Things do look bleak for our country cousins. I would rather see a North team do well in the league than another central Scotland team filling a spot. But, they do appear to be in the mire, deep stooch, big trouble in little county. I feel they are doomed..........doomed I tell you, doomed.
  24. To watch John Higgins play snooker.
  25. good answers captain You have done well in this test.
