  1. Who would be a manager?? Bring back Black into the team last Saturday - 2.15 and he is red carded- all the posters on here would be slagging CC for lacking foresight by putting Black into a 'BIG' game knowing he was suspect under pressure! Don't play him and the same posters offer 'he would have been the saviour' I accept that the thread asks for a future opinion but the content seems to offer what would have happened last Saturday. Bring him back? Of course - he is a wee topper - but hook him as soon as his ill nature shows through. I would start with him, give him a good run and play it by ear, have him accept he is on only as long as he offers the team something positive and make him realise that having the team play most of a game with 10 men is not positive.
  2. The school teacher(nosey old bird) 'Now children what does your daddy do?'' John- He is a joiner miss... Teacher -Very good with his hands I suppose Fred - He is a mininster miss....Teacher -We need them all in this bad age we live in! George - He is a Banker miss .. Teacher -Oh a man of finance George, very good! Kenneth - He is an exotic dancer miss, he goes out at 8 at night, goes to a club, takes his clothes off and rubs cream all over his body. He then dances and the men put bank notes into his little thong. If they put enough money his way, he goes home with them and has sex miss. Teacher - Let us go outside into the corridor for a moment Kenneth. Outside - I am sorry I asked you that in front of the class Kenneth. Kenneth - So am I miss, you see he is not an exotic dancer, he is a professional cricketer, playing for England but I'm not going to tell the class that!!
  3. I think the article shows Barry up in a very good light and paves the way for a staff position, for him, at the club when the time is right. It is one thing for a local to praise Inverness but for an incomer to say it, it carries so much more weight and this could be important if Barry is part of a team, in the future, urging a player from the central belt to come up here.
  4. My memories are not of Olde Sneck...Culcabock was not yet in the town. The lane up the side of the Fluke allows me a couple of favourite memories. Jock McLean on his way to his small holding at Inshes, walking with his flock of sheep, just bought at the sales, found the work thirsty so he just opened the golfcourse gate at the top of the Fluke lane and put the sheep in there, along with the dogs. It was sometimes the following day that the sheep made the last part of their journey, I suppose dictated, no doubt, by the money made at the Mart and the friends willing to celebrate a 'good' deal done! The other memory, in the same lane, was the tinkers having a real (or should that be reel) knees-up with their own piper supplying the music and the men folk paying a penny for their favourite tune to be played. Donnie McKenzie giving the piper tuppence to play 'Bonnie Anne' because he was so proud of his daughter. The proceeds were watched over by the then owner of the Fluke, John Hay. Health and Safety - Entertainments Licence - Animal Welfare - Policing I do not think any of these were too important back then - the craic was excellent, the animals well looked after, the locals all fed and watered, no aggro....Happy Days indeed!
  5. I clapped too Rig. However it must be said that the manner in which he received the injury was farcical - on his own and falls over in the middle of the park! I think this contributed to the micky taking at the start but when it was evident that something more serious was the problem, I did feel sympathy for the big guy. I do feel that he has lots to contribute to Scottish football in some way or other, be it management or coaching, so good luck to him.
  6. This one made it home as well, bruised and battered from the pie Q, some of those young ladies punch above their weight when they realise that the pies are running short and they are still a wee bit away from the counter! Great game and once again a super support once they found their voice - SO PROUD TO BE, PROUD TO BE, PROUD TO BE A J.....!!
  7. If this 'Bayne is crap and Dargo is sublime' theme is so correct, why is it that Bayne ran Anderson ragged - to such effect that he nullified Anderson's attacking strengths and when Dargo came on with the defence, by now tired, he made little impression. Bayne for me was one of the best team players on the park today. Rankin I felt was weak, too prepared to turn the ball back to the defence instead of making a run either up the wing or inside to rattle their defence. However the game could and should have been won by a small degree of belief in their own ability. Aberdeen were not a very cohesive team today and all we needed was a player to hold the ball when we were in possession and play an intelligent ball BUT we were a wee bit frantic throughout - none more so than the play leading up to the goal. However that does not take away the enjoyment of the game, yes it felt like a defeat due to the lateness of the equaliser but for 94 mins we were something to be so proud of.
  8. I have two favorite memories on this subject, the one at Tynecastle was, as often is the case, delivered by his own supporter to Donald Ford, Hearts centre forward - "Ford, you wouldn't make a center for a dough ring!!" Then at a game in Falkirk when Alex Ferguson was playing centre for Falkirk against Rangers and all afternoon, in his normal way, he was kicking lumps out of the Rangers defenders. One defender had had enough and fouled Ferguson and this foul awarded to him was met by a chorus of "Protect the ball players, Ref!!" This was pre-segregation and the remark was rewarded by the fans of both sides howling with laughter. Ferguson had a presence on the park but a ballplayer he was not!
  9. quote =Get_off_the_park_ "Form players left on the bench,.........." How on earth are we armchair managers able to assess who is a form player and who is not! Surely this is the weak link in postings of the above kind - they assert facts that can not be proved or disproved. I would contend that CC is in a better position, having trained his players for the previous week, to know who is the form players, who should be sitting on the bench and, indeed, who should be pulled from the field of play! I will also, at this point, agree with the posting that praised the level of debate on here!
  10. Re the lack of goals - it is difficult to watch a match, from the park and get a good view of events - however on the Monday night game on TV, Dargo, on his own, could have had two and assisted with one! A miss from inside the 6 yard box, a penalty miss and having ran at the defense, only had to pass right or left to put his team mates into a scoring position inside the box. ( he carried on his run and ran out of ideas) This would not have happened last year. Therein lies the problem, if your top goal scorer has lost the touch to score goals when on the field there is little the manager can do from the sidelines. I do feel he should be stuck into the reserves for a couple of games and, with his undoubted talent, he can then find his scoring touch. Who knows maybe in training, with little pressure, he could be knocking goals in from all angles. Who would be a manager!
  11. Well said CD!! I only hope if CC reads this thread he comes all the way down until he hits on your common-sense posting. I do think that some postings on here, re CC, are over the top. Manager of the month? Not in the opinion of some of his own 'supporters'!
  12. A truly touching tale. (Stick with it - it's worth it) This is a quick story about the bond formed between a little girl and a group of building workers. It's allegedly true and makes you want to believe in the goodness of people and that there is hope for the human race. A young family moved into a house next door to a vacant building plot. One day a gang of building workers turned up to start building a house on the empty plot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the workers. She hung around and eventually the builders, all with hearts of gold, more or less adopted the little girl as a sort of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had tea and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. They even gave her very own hard hat and gloves. At the end of the first week they presented her with a pay envelope containing two pounds in 10p coins. The little girl took her 'pay' home to her mother who suggested that they take the money she had received to the bank the next day to start a savings account. When they got to the bank the cashier was tickled pink listening to the little girl telling her about her 'work' on the building site and the fact she had a 'pay packet'. "You must have worked very hard to earn all this" said the bank cashier. The little girl proudly replied, "I worked all last week with the men building a big house." "My goodness gracious," said the cashier, "Will you be working on the house again this week, as well? The little girl thought for a moment and said, "I think so. Provided those w*nkers at Jewsons deliver the f*cking bricks!
  13. Well Clachar, in the time that he has not yet proved himself to you his predecessor has proved to his new boss that he was not fit for the job and that is with players that are touted as being better than ours, money being paid that is higher than ours SO lets have less of the CC knocking and accept that we will go through good and not so good times. When your manager has been recognised as manager of the month a few weeks ago does that not tell you something about his ability? Yes he is still learning - maybe his subs could have been used better - maybe he put out the wrong team on occasions - maybe some of the players need a nudge at times but those points could all be made to CC/Strachan/Ferguson etc etc. For Heavens sake give the guy a break!
  14. Wee Shuggie through to the final of the Quiz in the Rangers Social Club must answer the all important £100,000 question in the centre of the park on the Saturday. Question Master '' Now Shuggie, I can only take your first answer, do you understand?'' Shuggie ''Hit me we it big man'' Q M '' Now Shuggie think first before you answer - 3 x 6'' S ''Aim no too good at the numbers,...21'' Q M ''Sorry Shuggie you just lo....... 68,000 Rangers fans in one voice ''GIVE SHUGGIE ANOTHER CHANCE!!'' Q M ''OK 3 x 4'' S ''15'' Q M ''Sorry Shuggie..... 68,000 Rangers fans in one voice ''GIVE SHUGGIE ANOTHER CHANCE!!'' Q M ''OK 2 x 2'' S Arms raised aloft ''FOUR!!'' 68,000 Rangers fans in one voice ''GIVE SHUGGIE ANOTHER CHANCE!!''
  15. What failings? It was the players fault then? Well it is good to see that the Sun readers are not biased!! I think you are suffering from a degree of innocence - there will be three sides to the story - the most concocted one will come from the Sun reporter, to earn his dirty pay!
  16. Perhaps the foregoing supports my comments. It would appear that any positive comment MUST be replied to in the negative. I like the comment that even Fergie gets it wrong at times - well not often - but I bet their forum is also full of 'know better' armchair managers. ''He should have subbed Rooney not Ronaldo'' What luxury! Well we don't have that luxury but we can still have our say. Thanks for making this board so enjoyable with your (mature most of the time) differing views.
  17. Reading my way through the various threads, very often there is points made about CC and his man management/team selection/touch line behaviour(or lack of it) - so I wish to have my say. There is no doubt that CC came into management after lots of pondering, the sign of a mature person. He took over a team considered successful and has gently eased them into another playing pattern, in my opinion, better on the eye and more successful. It is natural when games are lost disappointed fans turn on the players and manager without much consideration being given to the ability of the opposition. However, I would contend that we now have a better run team, playing better football, managed by a better manager, making better use of his subs and.....not only does he talk sense but he is more articulate than any other manager in the SPL and most of the professional presenters. All in all, I am proud to be a CC supporter at this early stage of his management career.
  18. Coming from the Kingsmills area we enjoyed some cavier and a small glass of Bolly before making to the match!
