  1. That's fine, nobody is questioning the creation of atmosphere or the noise, but arguing or fighting with stewards whether you like their attitude and trying to cause damage outside the grounds or antagonise opposition fans into fights isn't particularly good for your individual reputation (unless that's the rep you are aiming for but given the stature of most of the guys I'd rethink that), the rest of the fans or fundamentally the club. Cheering, being vocal and supporting is encouraged by all though - nobody has been negative towards that so calm down with the aggressive attitude - we all have the interests and success of the club as our priorities.
  2. ^ I think Vigurs has an important role in this game, during the Aberdeen match (and several more before it) I have been calling for Vigurs to be substituted or dropped as he often stifles play, kills the pace of any attack and slows the game down far too much - especially when we try to break or counter attack. However for a game against Celtic I see his role and style as being key, if he can stop the play in the middle of the park and break down Celtic attacks while slowing down our play to maintain possession (although his passing and distribution has to be better than against Aberdeen) it could play a big part in us getting anything from the game. His set piece play along with Tansey may be our best chance of goals but between Vigurs, Tansey & Draper we have the capability to overpower Celtic in midfield but they all need to play well.
  3. The result was unsurprising in some ways as Celtic although a better team than last few seasons with more potent attacking threat, the back line has been a weak link since Van Dijk left. Hopefully we can play with a solid back 4 and central midfield and use our wingers pace to try get balls in the box and exploit the weaknesses. I think its worth having a go at them, we may score and get picked off into a thumping but better than sitting in and still loosing 1 or 2 nil. No guts no glory.
  4. What, trying to damage property and shouting unnecessary abuse at members of the public and rival fans to goad them into fighting............perhaps not, or are you going to deny that this went on outside the ground? If that's your idea of creating an atmosphere then you are going about it all wrong!!
  5. Abuse, its not personal, its called banter - other than the 'young team' nobody else in the crowd took it personally. As for the stewards its their job, you need to respect and accept their decisions whether you like it or not, its called authority and respect - time to grow up!!! Regardless of that how is that justifiable outside the stadium, damaging property, shouting abuse and generally acting like fanjitas - as said this is now 2 games in a row (and its the same faces)? Continue like this and sooner rather than later you will behave in a way that results in 1 of 2 outcomes - arrested and banned from attending games or given a good kicking by some opposition fans that wont laugh off this behaviour. If they are deemed old enough and responsible enough to be out without an adult then they are able to take responsibility for their own actions. Looks like some of the young fans have been on here, lets hope you take on board what's been said and modify your behaviour moving forward so as not to damage our clubs good reputation. And if 'sweetie rustlers' or anyone else requests modification in behaviour then I suggest acting with respect for elders and authority
  6. Ictsince94 - we know rangers fans are scum, new club same knuckle dragging support but let's not say any unsavoury behaviour from our fans is ok cos it's not as bad as others. Irrespective of any issues in the ground with stewards they need to get over it and not instigate petty actions of retribution. Not denying as we are a small band of away support it makes it easy for stewards at any ground to single out and seem they take more action than against much larger groups of visiting fans but we are all there to pay and enjoy the game for 90 mins so just accept their instructions and get on with it, not worth getting anyone ejected because they disagree with the authorities in place or creating a scene which affects our reputation.
  7. Overall a good performance, I thought Aberdeen created a bit more in the final third and had a few really good chances but our defence held strong and are starting to look a lot more composed unit, MacKay at RB is an improvement on Horner and the faltering Raven, he could make that his permanent position going forwards. Another great Draper performance today and a fantastic finish from Vigurs, although I do still feel he is slow at build up play and often stops the game too dead and brings pace out of our attacks at times. Good to see Doran come on and he certainly showed some good touches. Definately signs of improvement although Celtic may be a much stronger test that the Dons, where the strength and ariel ability of Doumbaye may edge it over Fisher but today both played well. Sad to see the antics of the younger fans or 'singing section' today, abuse shouted about Shinnie and cheering his injury, arguing with stewards then on leaving the stadium throwing metal secuirty barriers and signs about, then shouting abuse at Aberdeen fans (including those with children) on the walk back into town. When I approached one of them regarding throwing barriers around suggesting its not a good image for our club I was told 'we dont care'. Well I do, this club has worked hard and I believe have a good relationship with all rival fans therefore dont want this to start being affected by the minority or having fans put off attending away games. While some may say its only barriers and signs or just fun, I see it as a lack of respect of others property and surroundings, so after issues with behaviour at the St J game and now this, its maybe time to reign the behaviour back in as its not welcome.
  8. Sadly on here some are too juvenile for that, the reality that most posts just ordinary and carry the opinion of an individual is the normal although some are more exceptional and carry good structure and an opinion shared by many therefore get acknowledged (green) and some likewise are just inflammatory, degrading or out to provoke a reaction which lead to red dots. I'd like to think most on here consider when its appropriate to provide positive or negative feedback - however some cant and just see it as a point scoring exercise. Its not the system that's the problem, its how people use it or what their motivation is, therefore because of this perhaps the best resolution is to remove the system altogether? If the system isn't being used to acknowledge either end of the spectrum then it has not been grasped (in my opinion).
  9. Yes I was at the game and I'll be at this one too, You might think Horner had one of his best games for us, but that doesn't make him a better option defensively against the attacking players from Aberdeen - StJ created little down the wing whereas Aberdeen will be much more potent, positioning is an area weak in Horners game and he is often caught out while going forward has a lesser attacking threat that Raven - or do you disagree. Fisher never scored or looked like it and that's the job of a striker, where as Doumbouya carried a much more potent attacking threat. I'm glad you want to pick players on the sentiment that you liked what they did last game, however I want my club to put out a team that will win a game with every player being best for that job.
  10. We have a game on Sat away to Aberdeen but as usual very little match thread build up anymore, apparently debating red/green dots is more interesting at the moment. OFW Raven Meekings Warren Tremarco Draper Tansey Mulraney Polly King Doumbouya Although Raven has been off form this season, Horner didn't look any more impressive last game - we need solid full backs to combat Hayes/McGinn/Logan threat. Upfront nobody has really hit form for us yet, but I thought Doumbouya looked impressive on his first outing so may be worth a start.
  11. I agree with the above, personally I like the position of being at a slightly higher vantage point and being offset not too far from the centre line, give a great view of the game. Nothing wrong with the North stand and perhaps it does carry a little more atmosphere however from a personal preference I find the perspective especially when goal mouth action at the far end isn't as easy to distinguish as its all about depth perception and the seating isn't as high as the main stand for that view. For the extra few £££'s if you can try get a main stand seat in a higher row would be my advice especially for a first game.
  12. Just stick with the status quo, but its almost an irrelevance - does it matter whether a comment is liked or not? This is a football forum, its not some kind of online contest and there are no prizes for getting the most 'greens' and certainly if individuals feel 'reds' are a personal attack or affecting their lives then perhaps a grown up adult platform such as this or even the interweb isn't the best place to be using. Leave as is, remove altogether, but I'd refrain from anything that involves investing time to resolve or put in place, I would suggest there is a high percentage on here like myself who just don't care - if its there we may use it, if not so be it. Changing things will not do anything other than give those already unhappy a new angle to be unhappy about.
  13. While we have made a couple of good signings - King, McNaughton (although unfortunately now injured) the best business was the re-signing last season of many key players. When Yogi brought in a lot of unknown players last year he got lambasted for being unheard of and unproven unfortunately not many seemed to perform well - yet this season we are in a similar position regarding Boden, Cole, Mulraney and everyone seems positive and raving about the 'good window'? So far we have seen Mulraney & Boden perform pre-season, just like Roberts last year in some ways yet done little else while Fisher looks promising - so for me the jury is still out. Having Doran is like a new player hopefully, but the lack of proven or experienced striker is a concern, last year the gamble on Storey worked but we have missed out on players going to our rivals that would have been assets.
  14. Surprised to see Nicky Clark (not the hairdresser) go to Dunfermline, I'm sure he knocked us back for loan before and although was never prolific at The Rangers, I thought he might have been worth a deal
  15. Not the signing I was hoping for when I saw we'd got B.McKay............Billy or Barry never even considered Brad. Probably a sign that we spent our budget for a senior player on MacNaughton who now injured is a wage bill burden so most likely only have enough left to gamble on someone less proven and cheaper. Quite a few rumour circulating again around guys in my work with reliable contacts inside Pittodrie (a guys brother-in law is best mates with Barry Robson so they frequently all drink together) that given the poor result against Celtic the board are ready to back Del with some money for some strengthening of midfield and apparently both Draper and Tansey are high on the list again.
  16. Doran will take time to get back, he hasn't played this level for over a year and while he may be heading towards fitness, he still looks to be carrying some weight, but hopefully over the next few months as he does it will give a new dynamic to the midfield and introduce that creative spark that we are missing and neither Vigurs or Polworth can provide. The question is asked who plays/who is dropped, is all are fit the strongest midfield would line up like this Draper Tansey King Doran Mulraney A proven goal scorer is necessary - in this league the difference between a 15 goal a season striker and not having one is fighting for top 4 or relegation, its that extreme. When Doumb came on he went onto the right wing, so he may not always be played as a CF and while both Boden & Fisher have performed ok this season, neither has made a case to be first choice or prominent starter as yet.
  17. Had a suspicion they would do well against West Ham again especially given odds of 10-1 ;-) , don't think these English based teams or players care about the EL, get too much money playing in the EPL as a salary to care about the prestige of European competition unlike smaller nations. If its not cash driven like the CL then these guys just don't turn up - indicated by EPL teams playing their 2nd string players quite often.
  18. I understand for young players its hard to break into established big teams in England due to the cash they spend, but he's 22 and played only 34 senior games at any level (considering he's been out on load the last 4 seasons) scoring only twice. By the comment where being described as not as good as a 30 year old player with significant injury problems and never managed to establish himself in a team for any duration or scoring record doesn't really sound like the solution to our scoring issues at this level.
  19. Rig - Nail, head & hit Add to that shop 3 which pays the same or very similar as shop 2 but in order to compete to get the staff due to their remote location has to offer their staff accommodation or incentives to relocate themselves and their family?
  20. Heard that already 2 or 3 times this summer..............starting to think its more a case of boy who cried wolf. Be convenient to keep talking this up to make it look like the club are trying and placate the fans before the window shuts and we miss out on all our targets. Sink or swim time for some of the youth players I think.
  21. STJ have a huge advantage geographically in that central belt players can still stay in Glasgow/Edinburgh and work in Perth. Therefore as they are not relocating their salary requirements may be lower (we may even have to offer accommodation to players we sign as part of any packages?) and its a much easier sell for the club. But I do partially agree they have alternative revenue streams other than football which go back into the club however football is a professional business and should be run as such so solutions need to be balancing the books with extra income a bonus and not akin to starting flogging t-shirts out of the back of vans to try keep us solvent.
  22. If thats the case they will really rip you if the clubs in the Championship next year. Rather see us steady the ship and build confidence with a clean sheet than worry whether its entertaining right now cos watching us ship 10 goals in 3 games certainly isnt. Ironic though if a team like Chelsea were to play that way against Barca then your English chums would probably laud how good Englich club sides are at competing with the best if a positive result comes of the negative approach.
  23. Every week passing will make signing more difficult. Trying to persuade a player to join a loosing team who will be fighting relegation (or looks that way), at a club with a low support and in a location that doesnt appeal to all is going to be a significant challenge - Shinnie to Hibs (although he may never have been interested in us again) as an example, Hibs is an easy sell - winning team, fighting for a title (even if it is a lower level), big corwds, vibrant city life, players getting international call ups from that club - certainly makes recruitment easier IMO. Richie is going to have some hard work to do on recruitment now.
  24. Without knowing the terms of payment for the Christie transfer there may only have been a partial up front payment and a series of staged. We do know that the Storey loan cost 50k for each half of the season, its been documented on here before. When McKay left we brought in Ofere - a player recognised as a mercenary who plays for money. Consider we had to sign OFW while retaining Brill and Esson, Foran and Doran were on a wage bill but never played - so we had to over extend our basic playing baudget. Although a few higher earners leave every time we renegotiate a player contract they will most likely get more, have signing on fees or even bonuses etc - all to prevent them being poached, otherwise fans will complain if we let them walk away after the contract expires and we gamble on unknown bargain basement options. If season tickets remain the same price and revenue fails to increase but living costs go up and therefore outgoings and salaries its inevitable we cant maintain the same level of quantity or quality.
  25. Regardless of the Hughes/board and press issues which led to his sacking/resigining there was a strong voice from many fans before then, that they wanted Hughes out as he had huge budgets and reverted to boring football. While at times it was tepid, negative and often lacked entertainment perhaps what we really are seeing is that the squad isnt as good as we (the fans) think it was and perhaps he played this way beacuse we kept gradually getting weaker loosing players like McKay, Christie, Watkins, Ofere where the goals and creativity came from - maybe Hughes had no choice and keeping us at the level we were and the success we had was a bigger achievement than some would ever like to acknowledge. I'm all for giving time to a new manager, but calls for increased budgets are not practical, we have had number for key players (OFW, Draper, tansey, Warren, meekings, raven, tremarco, vigurs, polly) all sign up on longer deals - do people not think these will be on increased wages over previous contracts these guys had? Our 'core' wage will will have increased thus leaving less for the other players - sadly this is the price of success a trying to keep players and ward off other interested parties. We failed with top 6 last season, no cup finals and no increased foot fall - there is nowhere for extra cash to come from. People may cite the Christie transfer fee, how much has been paid is unclear or the terms, but with the horrendous injuries last year extra players had to be brought in and the Storey loan had a fee - its likely there is nothing of this left. Foran will need to work with what we have and adopt tactics that play to what we have, the signs arent good but we still have time. The next 3 games are very hard and I worry that after 6 games we could be still on zero points and been giving another couple of heavy defeats against the Dons & Celtic. Those who say its not Forans fault, if it was Hughes fault the tactics we played last year then it has to be Forans now - he picks the team and decides on how to play. Lets hope the learning curve is not too steep.
