  1. Positive news and maintains continuity at the club where he can continue his plan for building and movng forwards, wont be long until he is one of the longest serving managers in the league such is the nature of football, not often managers get 2 seasons far less 2 contracts lol. Although I'm sure there will still be a number on here finding negatives in JH staying, or the board conduct with contracts, or Yogis accent or whatever they can criticise.
  2. Realistically I doubt it will happen this time as said it really only benefits Celtic and the brand appealing to the Irish populus overseas, but this is a concept the EPL have totued for years - games in USA, Asia, Australia etc, anyone remember the concept of game 39 a few years back. It never happened then, but with the influence of money in the game and desire for mass appeal and marketing its only a matter of time before the might of teams like Chelsea, Man U, Man C, Liverpool etc get their way probably at a similar time to Real Madrid, barcelona, Bayern etc - UEFA will bow down and allow Eurpoean football to go global. Either that or the Champions League circus/Atlantic league or some other concept that the top dogs can get a slice of the cash from will surface. Will this benefit Scottish clubs other than the OF as usual, its unlikely. Teams like ours and the rest who have no political pool will only appeal to a minority of local expats and would ultimately cost more to the clubs than the effort is worth. Sadly as much as trying to make ICT a global brand would be amazing and help the finances, we cant even make it a dominant brand in our own town which is where we need to focus.
  3. Can we not buy tickets at the gate?
  4. Being honest this is probably a convinient error by a player which will be used as a reason to rectify an error by the management and club signing and paying for a player who isnt up to standard and is appearing an expensive mistake. Whether we agree its morally or ethically correct to keep or get rid, football is business and perhaps the club look at it as a way to cut their losses and move on. Would this have happened if it was a star player like Christie, Warrent etc - probably not as they have market and club value, but sadly thats the unfair way business and life is.
  5. Possibly a fortunate move for the club where a player who has looked very poor could end up with a terminated contract without any payoff if in breach of clubs code of conduct etc. The club will have to investigate properly but if guilty then he could be gone in time to free up salary for new blood in January?
  6. In some ways I slightly get agents for players as they are commodities bought and sold, plus they are young so could be exploited due to naivety, however are they needed for a manager? If regular man can negotiate their pay rises and employment then surely football managers can too. Yogi must know what he wants paid, who he wants in his backroom team - from a club stance its can we afford it, all an agent does is take commission and make everyone believe he is acting on the best interest of his client.
  7. Good 3 points taken from a difficult place to go and a team with a new manager. Leaves us now just on ther verge of top 6 and 1 behind our high flying neighbours that seem to be getting plenty media credit. All this still with an understrength team, so the signs are good. Hopefully the break will allow for some players to recover if not the next few matches could be a backs to the wall struggle.
  8. We finished 3rd last season, won a cup and they played together almost every game then, so I think the answer is yes. While they may have a dip in form where Draper hasnt had the best of starts this season and Tansey is now starting to play well, the fact we have a new keeper and unsettled defence with our captain and leader missing, couple that with the misfiring options ahead of them in the midfield and upfront its not condusive to letting them settle into their normal games as they are trying to create and also defend covering the whole pitch end to end.
  9. Good news and probably the reason we got him, he gets game time and starts when fit and we get a player on a wage that is probably lower than his previous clubs to allow him to keep his place in the national squad, which he has and deserves based on performances with us, although is his contract not up at the end of this season? Will that affect any windfall as his parent club, especially if he signs pre-contract?
  10. Sorry, I disagree, football is not a normal business its entertainment and in this line of work fans pay the money, therefore pay or heavily contribute to the wages and in doing that we are entitled to know what we are paying to see on a Saturday. If the club dont want to divulge then thats fine, but they cant expect fans to keep paying to see an understrength team and poorer quality fare becuase we have no idea if or when we may see our top talent again. Nobody is expecting fully detailed personal information of each injury or personal absence but to know if a player is injured for 1 or 2 weeks, or 6 to 8 months is as a curtosy. If these guys want full privacy then they shouldnt have a public job in the media and entertainment industry - the club cant ask us to pay our money yet not be transparent as to what we will see. if I go to the cinema I at least know the actors in the film, whether good or bad after that is irrelevent I attend because X or Y should or has the capability to be good and football is no different.
  11. I think its all been covered but the game was poor in parts with 2 teams who created little. We have lots of possession but lack cutting edge - I wonder how much the Latapy depature has affected that? We need Draper back with Tansey, then we can play Williams Vincent Christie, but need a player like Doran back to replace Ryan when he leaves. Unfortunately Polworth and Vigurs just aren't the quality we need - I get Vigurs was playing in a holding position, but throughout the whole game he looked slow, ponderous and disinterested - thats ok if you are a player like Balotelli, Griffiths or Boyd where you have the talent to change a game but sadly he doesnt. Overall though, if Dundee are a top 6 team, then Scottish football is in a poor state as I really thought they werent great at all, based on this performance and others this year we arent far away from these teams and if we get our act together then a surge up the table will occur soon.
  12. Firstly, I live in Aberdeen so every game is an away game, but I have a season ticket and try to get to at least 10 home games a year or more to break even. I usually go to away games in Perth, Dundee, Edinburgh and Aberdeen - so in a year that could be somewhere around 6-8, so nowhere near as many as some on here. Regarding the pricing I think the tickets are expensive across the board but I do think it becomes a challenge for clubs to drop away prices without doing teh same with home and as we have seen ourselves, lower prices do not always equate to more fans just reduced revenues. When we consider that the cost of the cinema is now £11 plus much more expensive refershments than any football ground, is football that bad, the biggest issue that clubs have is presenting value for money. There are certain stadia, seating positions etc where I think its not too bad, but others I think its a crap environment and surroundings for the money - Pittodrie being one, its exposed, always cold and generally a crapy away experience comapred to somewhere like Easter road or McDairmid - I think that has a factor on opinions.
  13. Why is the club lacking such transparency on its player recovery, we were all shocked by GW returning on Sat. We know about the long term injuries, but as above where are the 'lost men', we signed these summer players who have been constantly injured - Silva, Mutumbo, Roberts now Lopez - should we read into this bigger issues with lack of settling into the club or in some cases are they even still here? is our recrutment policy flawed and our medicals not picking up on serious injuries these guys carry?
  14. Yet again, we are back to the tiresome subjects of footfall, pricing and at some point I'm sure the 'M' word will appear. To summarise the above without the need for yet another thread - footfall is what it is, circa 3000 fans, no matter what it doesnt change, the club have tried even in the most successful season ever, pricing - we are one of the cheapest football experiences in the SPFL http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34506759, as for the M word, who care, its history, move on and get over it please. Can we get over this and actually focus on the point of this thread and its actual topic - Yogi's contract, while there are loose arguments about these topics and how we can manipulate them into funding and why the club lack ambition etc etc - are they the key point of do we want Yogi to stay and if not can we get better? Has there been any updates on his discussions does anyone know or is there a deadline set by the club for him to decide or is this going to be like our player contracts and discussions run for months and months then we fail to resolve and an asset walks away?
  15. The lack of funds at the club cant be cited to Yogi, he brought us our most successful season ever and an attractive brand of football recieving plaudits everywhere (even the media), yet no more fans have come through the gate. Perhaps people need to look at themselves for those reasons, is everyone doing enough to encourage friends, family, colleagues etc? I don't see how the influence Yogi has on the players can be questioned, our team always looks motivated and committed even if we do fall short in games just now. Before the International break we hit a patch of form and started playing really well, moving the ball and scoring goals but since then we have had a few poor results and performances which suggest confidence is fragile just now. We are missing leaders on the park like Brill and Warren who organise our usually solid defence, Draper who marshalls the middle, Foran our captain has been out long term - injuiries are unprecendented and regardless of what some thing these players (Foran perhaps) along with Doran would get back into the team and improve it. We havent just lost key player, but key leaders on the park and they harder to replace. There is criticism of the signing policy yet even those players have been injured so how can we properly judge Roberts or Mutumbo, while Storey looks good potential. Look at the Championship where clubs like Rangers, Hibs, Falkirk, St Mirren all reside - clubs bigger than us, so we are still over-achieving, how long before fans accept this and a huge part of that is down to Yogi. I for one hope he stays and if not then he can walk away head high with what he has achieved, unfortunately for some fans on here they will never acknowledge his contribution to the club and still rue the day he arrived. Those who think we can find another manager who will bring us the same or more success without significant changes in budget and footfall then they need to bring these people into the club or make the board aware, because I'm hugely sceptical.
  16. Yogi has publicly stated he is in discussions for a new contract, so until then perhaps we should get behind him and the team, instead of already lining up a replacement, afterall even if he does decide to leave and makes that known in the next few weeks - we have 6 months to find the right appointment so why would the club jump into any rushed appointment? Possibility for plenty more candiates to become available over the season from clubs impatient for change, in some ways its refreshing to see a manager run a contract down and leave (if Yogi does) of his own accord than be sacked like a high percentage of his peers. Credit to the club, board and man himself.
  17. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience, its nice to see a positive post on here and that despite the doom and gloom someone can get along and enjoy our fare. Hopefully you and others will persevre because there are times when we click and play well its a treat to watch, just need to get over the sticky patch we are in.
  18. Perhaps the youth players arent put on the bench because there is no chance Yogi will put them on the pitch, I've not seen the development squad but from reports on here, maybe the simple fact is they are nowhere near good enough, so its better to struggle on with what we have in terms of fit seniors than throw a player not physically or mentally ready where it may cause more harm than good. Afterall the management team we have are professionals in this industry so know what makes a youth player ready more than most of us do. As for citing experience of being in and around the dressing room, maybe the youth players are around the senior team on match day - just not sitting for 90 mins in the cold on a bench when they have 0% chance of featuring. I do wonder if a lot of these negative posts that are aimed at the club, squad or management are from the element that still just don't like or want Yogi at the club and see any opportunity to turn events into another session to lambast him.

  20. Such a relief Big Sam took that Sunderland job meaning Hughes wont be going anywhere for now..................lets hope Jose can turn it round if not big Roman night punt him very soon. Best give Yogi another contract now to stave of further speculation and this thread running for the rest of the season, then we can get back to the usual calls of 'time for Yogi to go', and start calling all Yogi supporters 'happy clappers' again.
  21. That comes across a bit negative. We appointed Charlie Christie who was internal, Hughes and Robertson were both unemployed so essentially 'cheap' option there too. Just because our board work within the means of the club and aren't prepared to gamble £100k's on paying off other clubs to take a gamble on a manager when there are free or unemployed options who carry the same risk without the costs this doesnt warrent the negative or criticism that is always lodged. Lets face it other than Brewster has any appointment actually been wholey negative for the club, failed to stabilise, move forwards in some way or keep us consistent with the level we were at - havent seen us employ some clueless manager who decimated the club and drove us down the divisions!!!
  22. Dick Advocaat lol If we need a new manager then I'm sure the board will look at options as they have done in the past and pick the right man, given we don't like paying release fees and we are all about young managers getting opportunities or reviving careers, then someone like Graham Alexander as he is recently a free agent. Names like Kenny Shields, Terry Butcher, even Ally McCoist will end up doing the rounds in the press - none of whom are particulaly inspiring.
  23. In terms of clubs that have potential which we like to use in Scotland the reality is that Celtic & Rangers are top of the tree, below that we have Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs & Dundee Utd for size of club and capability to get large fan numbers in and build a sustained period of success if managers are given time. Below that there are clubs like ours, St J, Motherwell, Partick Thistle, Dundee etc who can build teams and exceed expectations short term then fall away. DUtd is a step up in tersm of club ststure but right now in terms of football its a step back or across and only a manager who has huge self belief or likes a gamble would go there from a stable club as the chances of being given time (4 or 5 years) and some money to build a team and create something lasting is slim - clubs want immediate results and with that comes short term success which is what helps stall real progress.

  25. Sometimes I laugh when I look on this forum, now the rush and concern as to why Yogi isnt on a longer contract, why he has to stay when only weeks ago with our slow start to the season even after winning a SC & best ever league finish there were calls to sack him - his signing policy was guff, tactics and team selection wrong and in the eyes of some still isnt the right man for ICT.
