But the Lord of Dochfour would not let them build across his land unlike other land owners further north who had business interests who were keen to have the railways. On the south side of Fort Augustus part of the line could be reused but where the old station was at Fort Augustus is now the school. The railway went from there across the canal and river Oich and on to the pier on the south of Loch Ness where it met the steamship. As snorbens said there is not the room along with the road on either side of Loch Ness.

Feed the meter Charles I thought there was a maximum 3 hour stay, I would not risk feeding the meter myself and would never be in town that long

Laurence my post was indeed political but I did say in Scotland and nothing to do with the UK government. I will give the Tory party credit for upgrading the A9 in the seventies but that upgrade was long overdue!

Thanks to the SNP I get my free prescriptions and now have my bus pass since last year, I will be heading down to the shops tomorrow for a few things on the bus which saves taking the car to the old town. I was also glad to get my daughter through university without having to pay a fortune and she now has a successful career.

I agree as I don't think there will be many others after tickets for this one on a Tuesday night.

Both shows are a must for me I missed them both on Saturday so got the first on listen again last night and will get the other tonight.
