  1. Not as much as that £3 per week for 40 hours in WM Low Supermarket in 1972 ( a pittance) went up to £5 after a year, only stayed there 18 months.

  9. I don't remember any of the shops except Barneys which is still here today! Cars on street Hillman Minx, don't know large black one, black Austin A55, Hillman Husky van, Austin Cambridge, in car park 2 Austin A 30's, Mini with large roof rack (the early ones had a hinge on the top of the rear number plate so you could leave the boot open when driving as the boot was so small), Standard 8, Jaguar Mk10, Ford Zepher, the large tail fins of a Vauxhall Cresta, front and rear of 2 Ford Popular's and a Morris FG van like ones you have driven yourself 'weeman' with no heater or power steering!
  10. On left Austin Cambridge, on right Black Morris Oxford MO, white Jaguar Mk9, white Austin A70 & Morris Oxford behind both parked outside Benzies!
  11. That's my old school the Merkinch and without the flats in Dunabin Road you can see the Trinity Church. What is now the playing fields was obviously a mine store during WW1.

    I don't remember Nicols being on Hamilton St was that before he moved to grant St?
  16. Opposite the old Muirtown Stores (now Crown Vets) it is now flats with Muirtown Basin on the left and the building on the right is part of the old Glenalbyn Distillery.
