..but it might not e for a very long time given the very limited scope for associated countries to qualify for the next World Cup I often wonder how Ireland, with no greater cricketing tradition than Scotland and very many fewer teams and active participants, always seem to do so much better, in relative terms, in these tournaments

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness CT
How about we forget all this paranoia about the media being biased against us and get on with trying to win matches and qualify for Europe ? The sheep reference wasn't particularly funny but nor was it the insult of the century. We may not get much coverage the central belt media but when we do it's generally favourable.

Don't know if anyone else heard it but on radio before game Yogi said we'd tried to bring in players after Christmas but couldn't manage on the money available. Assume he meant wages?? That would not be a great surprise given our limited finances and I am sure the vast majority of fans would have been accepting if the chairman had said when Billy left something along the lines of we will try our best but will struggle to replace him on the money available rather than the very definite 'we have contingency plans' when that turned out not to be the case.

Predicted Final Table
Yip. As the OP I have cause to be more embarrassed and more surprised than most.

If we had had a viable contingency plan to replace Billy there is every chance that we would be battling it out with the Dons for second place and the kudos, extra place money and starting a round later in Europe that goes with it rather than trying to fend off United to stay in third. As I said earlier in this thread, difficult to be too critical this season but nevertheless disappointing.

Hell, don't tell me Raven has signed a pre contract with the Dons as well....

Disappointing, to say the least, to surrender the lead for the fourth time in two matches, this time against a team out of form, low in confidence and down to ten men for almost the entire match. Sounds from the commentary that we had enough chances to win comfortably but suffered from not having a natural striker. It's difficult to be too critical after the season we've had but we are seeing the consequences of being the only club in the league without a single experienced striker and the folly of not having a viable contingency plan for replacing Billy McKay. If we do fall short of an historical European qualification it will be down to having no plan in place to deal with something that was pretty well inevitable. Maybe it's not too late and there is an unattached forward to we can bring in. Marley is working hard and doing sterling work but goal scoring is not his forte.

Replacement Striker?
.....and with a good deal more international experience at a higher level.

Derek Adam scored a few own goals with his pre and post match comments...

New Zealand in New Zealand are a different proposition to a West Indies side in disarray. Will be happy with a respectable score.

Do you have a similar graph of goals conceded ?

I rather like the quirks and inconsistencies of the English language....but not as much as I like macaroni pies.

marley watkins
All the indications are that he will be away at the end of the season but it would be a huge boost if we could somehow persuade him to re sign.

Best team in the UK?
Thank you. I knew you come up trumps

Best team in the UK?
With eight wins out of eight starts, are Celtic not statistically the best team in the UK this year but a question for Sneckboy perhaps; Is this the longest we have gone undefeated into any calendar year ? Also, is this our record unbeaten run in the top flight ?

Do You Want County Relegated ?
Every shareholder has access to the accounts but there are so many variables that it is difficult to say whether County's presence in the top tier has had a detrimental effect on income or not. What does seem clear is that they are bringing fewer and fewer fans to derbies at the TCS.

Scottish cup quarter final draw
Maybe we could contribute by offering say a five pound discount on admission to all their fans travelling on subsidised transport. If it generated enough additional support it could be self financing. We could balance any injustice felt by home supporters by offering a five pound discount voucher to be redeemed at a future home game thereby increasing the crowd at the cup tie and also the next couple of home league fixtures.

Hopefully not premature but the season is set for a thrilling climax..

Pity about the lack of TV revenue, just need to make up for it by making sure we make the semis and the guaranteed revenue that brings.

Do You Want County Relegated ?
Following on the other County related thread, I am curious to know how posters feel about the now very real prospect of our near neighours being relegated after three seasons in the top flight. Personally, I would rather have our Highland neighours in the Premiership than yet another Central Belt team and would certainly want them there ahead of the utter embarrassment to the game that is the club that used to be Glasgow Rangers
