  1. Very disappointing we have had a very decent season but whenever the stakes are highest we seem to lose our nerve as at Easter Road and again today. We nearly did it last week but were handed a lifeline by the Ojamaa sending off. Yes, the United custodian had a decent match but if we had shown any composure in front of goal we would have been two or three goals clear by the time United scored in injury time. This is without doubt a competent team but it is increasingly obvious that they do not handle pressure well. Frankly, I am not optimistic for Dingwall next Sunday and now believe that our best chance of Europe next season lies with Motherwell doing the business against both our rivals. Staying in negative mode, how disappointing that a game that was potentially one of the most significant in our history attracted a crowd of less than four thousand. I remember better crowds for North of Scotland and Qualifying Cup finals.
  2. Supporting ICT and sado masochism, my two favourite passtimes.

Golobart has come on leaps and bounds Wigan and would have been a certain starter for us this season.
  4. .....and yet another rumour doing the rounds at the time was that he was sacked by St Mirren for making unauthorised personal calls on the club telephone.
  5. Given that we recently started a match with only one Scot on the pitch I don't think we should start throwing stones from that particular glass house. I see that Simon Ferry has been released by Swindon. A competent midfielder who might be a replacement for Andy Shinnie.
  6. I have to disagree with you RIG. It would have been fine if McInnes had stayed silent and then had a word with Pawlett in private although not as refreshing as being open and honest. However, he actively backed the player when the whole world could see it was blatant cheating.
  7. I agree, McCall got it right and enhanced his credibiity. McInnes got it wrong and damaged his.
  8. What about Gary Harkins who is unlikely to stay at Dundee now they've been relegated ?
  9. I don't think that matches can be re-refereed retrospectively and results altered. However, I do think these cheats should be dealt with much more severely with a red card followed by an automatic one match ban or a two match ban if the attempt to cheat takes place in the opponent's penalty area. I f the perpetrator gets away with it during the match thus dishonestly affecting the outcome then these bans should be doubled and doubled again in the case of each repeat offence which in Pawlett's case would probably leave him sidelined until 2014. I agree that McInnes attempting to defend the indefensible was just plain wrong. He would have gained much more respect and credibility by being honest or, if he couldn't bring himself to do that, to simply say nothing. For him to say that it looked like a legitimate penalty made him look like a fool and a hypocrite. That said, I have a lot of sympathy for referees. I thought that both Ojamaa and our own Nick Ross went down under very little pressure on Saturday and, although there was maybe enough doubt not to book either for diving, I was certainly of the opinion there was enough doubt not to award a penalty in either case.
  10. Maybe they could jobshare....
  11. At last a chink of light and no ludicrous 8 8 8 split. A lot of credit must go to Roy MacGregor. I wish that we had had the stomach to stand with the 'rebel two' last month but never mind, we have got there in the end. Although a lot of work still needs to be done and it will not be an overnight panecea we seem to be on the right track at long last. I don't suppose that Stewart Milne will now retract the outrageous comments he made about Stuart Gilmore. That would be too much to expect.
  12. There is a suggestion coming from Hampden that we might just have play offs in place for next season. I believe that the proposals of the First Division clubs for a 'Championship' under the umbrella of the SPL has not found much favour.
  13. Would only change the name if there was a commercial benefit.

Was planning taking the kids myself if tomorrow but Tuesday is no can do.
  15. County's failure to beat a severely under strength Celtic side today probably puts them out of the race. Whatever happens in the east end of Glasgow on Saturday, we need to take care of our own business and ensure we don't slip up against United after yesterday's supreme effort.
  16. that was quite a stunning game of footie. Just had a night out with a couple of gers fans who were telling me how poor the SPL was this year. Destroyed, so they were. Crowd could have been better, but crap, nah. There was little or nothing to be dosappointed about today but if you want to (potentially) be part of history, it might be a good idea to get your erse to Caley Park next week. Tell them davie sent you. Would get my erse down to 'Caley Park' next week but I really don't need any electrical goods. Think I'll go down the Longman instead to watch a game of football which may be of historical significance.
  17. That second half was the most nerve straining 45 minutes of football I have endured since the game against Falkirk that ultimately led to our relegation three years ago but, thankfully, with a more pleasing outcome. The game as a whole was a microcosm of our season, firstly, we seemed to have our European destiny well under our own control, then in the balance, then we appear to have thrown it away before finally pulling it out of the fire although, in my view the sending off was a game changer. Until that point there was only going to be one winner and it wasn't us but after the harsh sending off at Perth last week perhaps we deserved a bit of luck. Don't think the result at Tannadice was entirely negative from our point of view as it now leaves the Arabs arithmetic out of the equation with nothing to play for. The same effort and application as the boys showed today next week will leave us in a great position and, depending on results elsewhere, possibly qualified.
  18. In that case, I would play Hogg. I appreciate it is a risk but he is a very experienced campaigner who has now played several full games at under 20 level and has, I am told, been looking increasingly back on form.
  19. Half a dozen years ago I would certainly be calling for SP to be considered in the event of us having a managerial vacancy but now I think he has probably been out of football at our level for too long although I am certain he could still do a job in the SFL. Great, however, to see a Steve Paterson led team at the Summit of the Highland League again. As it happens, I saw Formartine play recently and they struck me as a typical Pele team playing with bravery, passion and no little skill. I was hoping that Clach might win the league this season but as that appears not to be despite their brave efforts on a shoestring so a Pele win is the next best thing.
  20. I think the race will tighten even more with us falling to defeat against Motherwell with St Johnstone and County each taking a point.
  21. Highland Council. Still acting like it's the late nineteenth century. Embarrassing. We get irked when the central belt stereotype us as backward thinking Teuchters and what happens, some of our number act as stereotypical backward thinking Teuchters.
  22. While I would be delighted if both Dorans and Tudor Jones commit, whatever happens we have secured many more core members of the squad than we did last season and we will not be faced with wholesale changes like last year. We are certainly in a better position than our near neighbours who have, as I understand it, only one of their first team squad signed up for next season as things stand.
  23. No fan of Neil Lennon or his team but I do believe that he is entitled to do whatever he thinks is in the best interests of his club.

    Nothing like either please.
  25. Both clubs need to be seen to be paying lip service to eradicating bigotry but neither really wants to upset too many of their core support as pandering to Irish sectarianism is how they have both derived the bulk of their income for well over a hundred years. coffers Accident and Emergency units being stretched to breaking point at least four times a year and huge spikes in domestic violence in west central Scotland with more than the odd fatality over the years appears to be an acceptable price to pay for filling their respective coffers.
