Europe:- The Final Countdown
Given where we were before the winter break, not making progress in the Scottish Cup was disappointing, not making the final of the League Cup was more than disappointing but throwing away the chance of of Europe when we were in pole position would be a very bitter pill to swallow indeed.

Scottish PFA Manager of the Year shortlist
My vote, if I had one would go to McCall. Motherwell's budget is not that much greater than ours and, like ours has been cut yet he has guided them comfortably into the second European place in consecutive seasons. Nor can I ignore the way his team have torn us apart three times already this season. Lennon and Johnston have both done well at their own levels but Lennon has a budget equal to all his SPL rivals put together and Johnston had the addvantage of working with the only full time squad in his division. Terry's case has merits but, in my view, McCall shades it.

Scottish PFA Manager of the Year shortlist
To be fair, I am a little bit surprised that Adams is not on that list given how well County have done in their very first season in the top flight.

Ref's
There is no doubt that the standard has slipped but I don't believe ICT have suffered any more than most. Agree that Willie Young was a fine ref' the like of whom we don't seem to have anymore.

Tulloch Stadium Suitability
All the same.... just don't take the bait!!!! With all due respect I look at our stadium as a fan whereas you look at is a freeloader Let's face it wouldn't matter one hoot how many stands it has in your mind, just as long as you have a comfy press room with access to free hospitality with all your cronies Poor man's Frank Gilfeather in my opinion Dougal Do you pay to get into your place of employment Dougal ?

As a matter of fact, I rather like my triangular house.

Only Dougal could turn the prospect of European into something negative. Even if we got hammered both home and away it would still be a wonderful adventure for a town which less than two decades ago couldn't even aspire to the lowest reaches of the SFL..

Tulloch Stadium Suitability
Why on earth would the club spend money it doesn't have on a stand that we don't need just to make the stadium look vaguely aesthetically a little more pleasing on the eye. Get a sense of perspective Dougal. The least of Scottish football's problems is grounds lacking in symmestry.

Europe:- The Final Countdown
The qualifying stages of the Europa League are unlikely to lead to riches but I would be very surprised indeed if we were to lose out financially if we are fortunate enough to qualify.

Europe:- The Final Countdown
Not sure today's result at Fir Park bodes well for us. Looks as though Celtic, having secured the title against us last week, may have put away the tools for the rest of the season with games against both our main rivals for the final European place still to play. On the other hand, our next opponents who have already murdered us three times this season, seem to be on fire. I am more than a little concerned.

It seems that the SPL clubs are due to meet again to discuss whether any consensus can be reached on any of the individual elements of the proposals recently rejected as a 'take it or leave it' package. Most prominently, they are to discuss and possibly vote on the introduction of play offs between the SPL and First Division. While clearly not the whole answer, it must be a step in the right direction. Personally, I have not spoken to a single fan who doesn't think that play offs are a good idea. They will, on their own, increase excitement and interest both at the foot of the SPL and the top of the First Division thus increasing the interest of fans and income of clubs towards the end of the season when often there is very little to play for. For those clubs who are involved there will be meaningful games with large crowds after the end of the regular season and it is bound to be of appeal to the broadcasters with any additional income spread among all clubs not just those directly involved in the play offs. I realise that out of self interest some clubs are not enthusiasts as it will increase the chances of demotion but surely that will be balanced by the fact that, if relegated, they also stand a better chance of going back up the following season. Not the whole answer by any means but please please let us take what can only be a sensible step in the right direction.

and, as such, is, I believe the only fully compliant Stadium in the Highlands.

A clear goal scoring opportunity. A fair red card in my view.

Europe:- The Final Countdown
Three cup finals ahead. We were in the box seat but are now in danger of blowing it. Makeshift back four or not we need to show full commitment for the final three matches. Having taken no points from our first two post split fixtures we need at least seven from the final three. That commitment doesn't just need to from from the players but from the "twelfth man" in the stands especially as two of the games are at home and the third on our doorstep.

Europe:- The Final Countdown
Whilst a draw or a United win might have suited us better, that result probably puts the Arabs out of the equation leaving a three horse race for that final Europa League spot. However, we remain in pole position as the only one of the three not relying on results of others. We just need to hold our nerve.

A blow but Devine has been competent and Hogg must be just about back to match fitness.

Cheerio Chuck
Having a population in excess of 80 million and teams enjoying great success in Europe helps with full stadia and lucrative TV deals.

And just for info for the conspiracy theorists apparently he owns the bus firm that St Mirren use! Has anyone checked the colour of the diesel in their tanks ?

I see that Chuck intends to sell his shares to an individual who served a prison sentance for defrauding Customs and Excise of millions of pounds in a major VAT fraud. Follow following in the (in)glorious tradition of Craig Whyte. For a side who's fans profess such loyalty to Her Majesty they seem to have a succession of owners now who seem most remiss when it comes to contributing to her treasury. For the avoidance of doubt, I am not suggesting that Craig Whyte's conduct, including his willful failure to pay over income tax and national insurance contributions collected from hundreds of staff including very highly paid professional football players, has been found to be criminal......yet.

Going a bit off topic but I must say that while I thought Dundee would probably finish bottom of the pile, I believed that they had the players to make a much better fight of it than they did. Although Barry Smith seems a very decent man, the fact that Brown has comes in and made a much better fist of it while only bringing in a 'keeper seems to confirm that. That said, I know which of the two I'd prefer to live net door to me !

Team fer St Jones Town
Most important game of the season to drop either Shinnie or McKay would be cutting off our nose to spite our face notwithstanding the fact that neither have been at their best recently.
