The Innocent Victim
At least there would be some continuity. However, although Robbo took us into the SPL he has the worst record by far of any ICT manager in the top division.

Case for Pele
He wasn't given sufficient time.

The Innocent Victim
It looks like the major casualty of Charlie Chritie's resignation is likely to be Donald Park. The trend these days is for incoming managers to bring their own backroom staff which means that Donald might be made redundant at an age when it might prove difficult for him to get another position in the game. That seems to me to be great shame given the loyalty he showed to the club when he had the opportunity to team up with Robbo at Livingston much more convenient for his Edinburgh base. I would like to think that the club will give due consideration to retaining the services of this competent and respected coach in some useful capacity when the new regime is in place.

New Manager
?100,000 To secure Coyle would not be beyond our resourses. After all we ourselves have received over ?300,000 compensation for departing managers in recent years.

Case for Pele
I accept that I may be in the minority but I would be delighted to see Steve Paterson return. He is a manager with a long track record of success who will have a burning desire to prove himself after the shabby way he was treated by the incoming Willie Miller at Pittodrie after being assured only weeks before tht he would be granted another full season to improve an Aberden team that had been in the doldrums for years.

JOHN ROBERTSON?
I'd far rather have John Robertson back than Craig Brewster but doubt very much whether we will turn to either of them in our search for a new manager.

Supporter's Trust/fans Meeting
Don't you mean consultation ? In any event I don't see the club, or indeed any other club for that matter, doing anything more than paying lip service to the views of the supporters.

New Manager
Does Steven Pressely have the necessary coaching badges ? If so he would be a risky but attractive candidate especially as he would help plug the defensive gap at the same time. Of the candidates mentioned so far, my choice would be Owen Coyle who has had success as a manager albeit not at SPL level and who knows the scottish game inside out. Of our former managers only Steve Paterson would, in my view, be a good appontment.

Brewster Vs Warnock
Personally, I wouldn't be keen on Brewster returning. As far s Neil Warnock is concerned, e ould be a good appointment but I can't see him being attracted by what ICT would have to offer.

Who should replace Charlie Christie?
That would be consistent with the sort of approach we've adopted in the past.

Bennett confirms Brewster shortlisted
I'd be disappointed to see Brewster return. His managerial shortcomings were exposed at Tannadice.
-
Who should replace Charlie Christie?
Tommy Burns ould be a god appointment but I suspect he's far too settled at his beloved Celtic.

Charlie Christie resigns
Whatever led to his resignation it wasn't a few negative comments posted on this board.
-
A Savage Appointment....
He certainly wasn't a failure by any means.
-
Who should replace Charlie Christie?
I wouldn't be altogether unhappy with Jim Duffy.

Charlie Christie resigns
I have no idea what has being going on behind the scenes but I doubt very much whether the attitude of the fans was a factor. Yes there is a vocal minority who were unhappy with Charlie but they were a tiny proportion of the fans and have not increased in number since his appointment. Until I hear anything to convince me otherwise I'm inclined to believe the official line that he simply found the high profile life on an SPL manager too stressful for him personally to cope with. Whatever the background to his departure he can be proud of his contribution to the club both as a player and a manager.

Positive Messages to Charlie
I'm genuinely sorry to see Charle go. I think that he had the makings of a great manager. However there is no doubt that the job is high profile and highly stressed. If that exposure and stress were injuring his health and affecting his family, as they clearly were, he had no choice but to resign. Charlie was a great servant to Inverness Thistle, Caledonian and Caledonian Thistle over the years. He was one of the most naturally gifted footballers ever to emerge from the Highland Capital. I wish him well in the future and would hope that the club might find a position for him behind the scenes, if he wants it, either now or in the future.

Who should replace Charlie Christie?
My choice would be Owen Coyle. Terry Butcher would be acceptable but being from the south ofEngland originally he may be difficult to prise away from Brentford. The only former manager I would be happy to see back would be Steve Paterson.
-
Brewster NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I agree with Mantis. Brewster's contribution was as a player, his shortcomings as a manager were exposed during his time at Tannadice. If we are considering any of our former managers I wouldn't be unhappy with Steve Paterson.

A plea from the heart
Let's not speculate just yet on who any new manager might be. Unless and until he announces that he's had enough our manager is Charlie Christie still potentially one of the brightest young managers in the country
-
A plea from the heart
If managing ICT is genuinely damaging Charlie's health then he should resign. Football is not that important. If it's not then he should stay and prove his mettle.

It Could Be Worse !
Worse still, you might just have witnessed your team lose in the league to Queens Park.
