The only sense that Inverness is not a football city is that the town and it's clubs were excluded from mainstream national league football for over a century. However, we are fast making up for lost time, whereas Dundee, as has been pointed out, has all the appearances o a city in steep decline and not just in the footballing sense.

Wasn't Eastgate a much more interesting place 30 or more years ago before the ubiquitous shopping mall arrived ? I seem to remember it bustling especially during market days with both the Plough and the Hayloft being veritable havens of underage drinking. What other memories are there of old Eastgate ?

To be fair, I believe that TV money is split much more evenly than in the past. A team like ourselves can look forward t a minimum of £600,000 or so per season from this source. Does anyone know whether STV intend to renew their rights ?

Neither Mark Brown or Craig Dargo did anything to impress when they had the opprtunity in the Futures game in Inverness.

In tomorrow's BT Bowl final at Murrayfield. Rugby in Inverness may be a long way from the heady days of th 1970s but Highland now seem to be making steady progress after long years of stagnation.
