  1. Wait and see what exactly? Courier article of 8th June? Though the position would depend on his value of his worth, ICT's abiity, or even willingness to pay it........and whether anybody else wants him. I believe blackie will be on everyone's wish list in Scotland this summer with the exception to Celtic. I can see him going to rangers if everything works out for them or a fairly decent English team, lower championship or high league 1. Wasn't on Heart's though, was he? Given the Courier article, doesn't look as if he has had many decent offers, else he'd not have been saying he'd consider any offer made to him by the club who couldn't afford Tokely. I'm being mischievious here...but I really don't understand the ICT fans obsession with the past and the eternal assuming their ducklings are everybody else's swans. Do you even know why he was released from Hearts? His wage demands were too much for them to afford so he was released. He is one of the best midfielders outwith the OF in the SPL so why wouldn't everyone fancy having him in their team. You love arguing for absolutely nothing....Do you even know who Ian Black is? Probably 'never seen him play' IMO.
  2. Why shouldn't he celebrate scoring a goal for the team that pays his wages? to show abit of respect to the fans the supported him for 16 years of his career perhaps So no players should celebrate scoring against their former teams? (I guess the same should apply to Munro too) Depends what you regard as celebrating, a smile, a hug from teammates? I very much doubt he'd go running up to the ICT fans jumping for joy. Perhaps just a wee wave to Butcher. Also you say you are not happy with him? I presume for moving to County, would you have been happy to help cover his mortgage, or costs for moving house instead perhaps? not the fact he went to county, the fact he ran to the papers the instant he seen his offer. i dont think thats the right way to go about it, a quiet word with butcher, and a goodbye in the papers, or through a club website, or something.would have surficed. the way he went to about every paper in the land and said he wasnt happy with the club, the manager etc. its not the right way to leave after 16 years. i can understand why at our level if hes offered something better over the bridge then i have no problem with him leaving for that but its the manor that frustrates me. Plenty of hyperbole there. Once he ceased to be in the employ of ICT (so long as he's not telling porkies) he's fully entitled to say what he wants to the papers, free country and all. You may not like what he said perhaps but that's a different matter. I may be wrong as I don't read 'every paper in the land' but I don't recall him saying he wasn't happy with the manager or the club per se but with the contract (renumeration and his position in terms of starting place). The manner of his departure frustrates me too but for slightly different reasons. Sad really after 16 great years. :tears:
  3. I despair. I really do. I see a player who has been playing part time football until the age of 27 as a signing that might be for squad depth. I certainly won't be expecting him to walk into the team and i'd like a couple more players with a better CV at the club looking for a starting place but i will give him his chance to show what he can do. If he performs exceptionally well and earns a regular place then great, if not he'll be the back up player that we need and what we have all expected from him in the first place. Do you? Why doesn't that surprise me? I have never read any football forum so packed with glass half full with a crack in the bottom fans that it is positively depressing. It certainly isn't particularly positive in any other way. Clearly never been on P&B then

  6. Looking forward to them even more now. I predict though that should County win the first derby CTO will implode! :burning: Here's hoping that we'll have the last laugh. Edit - Spelling as always.

    Ian black

Would love him to come back but no chance we could afford him. He'd most likely be offered less than what he got when he left us. Pipedream imo.
  8. Yep, I'd go with that!
  9. Always gave his all and worked his socks off, fair play to the guy. If he adds composure to his game and improves his nose for goal he could become a absolutley fantastic little (big!) striker.
  10. So nobody knows what kind of deal Foran got then....bar it was a two year one? And even I knew that! That would make him around the same age, when it is up, as Tokely is now.....so we'll see then how much of a Captain Untouchable he is....won't we? Age isn't the issue, performances are what matter. As for Foran, I guess it will depend if Butcher is still here in 2 years as to what contract he receives. Thing is, I have never seen either of them play, to my knowledge, I can only go by posts on this forum, and I am here reading all Match Threads on Match Days (if I remember it is a match day) and listening to the BBC link....and tbh, over the piece, neither of them appear to have regularly covered themselves in glory...but then, I suppose it depends on whether the person posting an opinion is a Foran fan or a Tokely fan. So failing any other criteria , if neither are playing great, then age has to have an input to any decision as to contracts...stands to reason...doesn't it...or do you give contracts and not just cross your fingers, but also your toes and your legs, that the person who is slowing down this season and approaching 34 will suddenly get a new lease of life next season to warrant the contract he thinks he deserves or do you take a chance that the 31 year old has more chance of coming good next season? (Given that none of us know what money was on offer, just how long the contract was) Seems to me a no-brainer. . People can't be a Foran and Tokely fan? (Or indeed of neither?) I'd imagine most people will simply be fans of the team. As you say we don't know the figures involved but if there are cuts in the playing budget (and there are) then surely you'd think everyone will have to take a cut of some kind, I'd be appalled if that wasn't the case. However past events would indicate that there are certain player(s) that are held in a 'preferential' status from the manager. I made all but one home game last season and I don't believe that either played too badly last season on the whole. Foran was very poor (both in attitude and performace) in the earlier parts of the season, mostly when he was up front to be fair but he was the one who said he was gonna score the goals to make up for Rooney iirc. Improved when he dropped back and seemed somewhat back to his previous form. Tokely made mistakes and had a couple of bad games no doubt but he was consistently our most solid defender over the season imo. If age has to come into contracts in your scenario then are you saying that the older player has to accept that a pay cut is on the cards, thus it would be ok for Foran to not take a cut and Tokely to be given one? Does that apply if one player is 21 and the other 25 or if one player is 6 months older than the other? Signing any player is taking a chance, if both players are 'slowing down' what difference does it make? Defenders can last a bit longer in the game generally than midfielders (look at Weir) so is 1 year really that big a difference? Tokely will be 33 at the start of next season, Foran will be 32 and seen as age seems to be the deciding factor with you the difference is actually 1 year and 3 months between them FFS! Nobody goes on forever but I saw nothing to indicate that he wouldn't manage another season in the SPL, but that's just my opinion. Shame as I'd have liked to have seen both players in the squad next season, but sadly that isn't the case. Best of luck to him in the future. Edit- Spelling.

  12. Should be performance related imo :P. Not an easy job no doubt but 4 games a month and you're over 3k a month I would die for a 40 hr a week job where I made that.
  13. I have to say Luke if TB ever needs to employ a spin-doctor you're the man for that job! ;)
  14. Yeah, this was my understanding. Money was for keeping things ticking over (i.e. general operating costs) for another season rather than a 'war chest'.
  15. Of course you have your concerns, we all do but go on get yersel down to the stadium and help the team out! Like a marriage there are good and bad times, sometimes you're in bed with a smile on your face, sometimes your on the sofa and sometimes the other half really p*sses you off but deep down you know you still love them :love02:. So go get that ticket!!! After all in either case there's always the bar.... :drinking04:
  16. You should really speak to someone regarding starting your own daytime tv show a la Dr Phil or a more up market Jeremy Kyle!
  17. If there was ever a post highlighting the lack of season tickets purchased to date this is it When the club shop resorts to pleading requests it's a fair indication that things aren't too rosey in the garden Dougal I take it you've got your season ticket to support the cause Dougal... oh wait you're saving your money to watch County, I forgot.
  18. Mmmm. I wonder what the size of cut Foran had to take with his new contract?
  19. Was just about to post the same. A sad day :(
  20. Foran got a new 2 year deal in January without a problem. Was he the only one offered a new contract then??? IIRC Hogg was offered his contract not long after he was injured.
  21. No problem, you are excused and no it was not one big wind up. I never thought what I posted would really wind up anyone tbh, it didn't seen that controversial, you should probably relax a bit. I'm looking over my posts in this thread to try and find my ' string of moans and complaints' and I have to admit I'm struggling to see it. I mentioned that I was surprised to not receive one, in fact looking over it again I started with 'Not the end of the world...' another poster said that they were actually sent out and they recieved one. I responded to this with a lighthearted comment (which you totally misunderstood) and said that they where perhaps lost in the post (which you agree was 'not beyond the realms of possibility') or possibly an oversight. I don't know what you regard as a string of moans and complaints but I mentioned it twice FFS! The first time only to mention that it actually happened. Only once did I say I was dissapointed, which is not even a moan nor a complaint. Strange that you seem very quick to moan and complain about people you see as moaning and complaining, do you see the irony? Take it easy mun, don't look for wee things to get irate about!
  22. The club are going to risk losing out on hundreds of pounds just to save themselves the cost of a stamp....are you for real!!!! Given the volume of letters sent...and having helped put the renewal packs together I know there were thousands...then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a few would go astray within the postal system and it's also not beyond the realms of possibility that of those then more than one would be a user on here. Yes CaleyD I was being 100% for real, I really honestly thought that folk at TCS were fighing over a book of stamps! I've put a wee smiley in here (which I couldn't do in my previous posts as I was on my phone) which will hopefully make it a bit easier for you to see that it was not a comment to be taken literally. There are many things that are 'not beyond the realms of possibility' but that doesn't mean it happened. Perhaps the postmaster in the Inverness sorting office is a County supporter! (See I did the same thing with the smiley again). The club are going to risk losing out on hundreds of pounds just to save themselves the cost of a stamp....are you for real!!!! Not to put words in Fraz's mouth, I think the comment was meant tongue in cheek Well done Martin, A+ for you correctly deciphering my complex prose.
