  1. Would be delighted to see us start with Polworth, Draper and Vigurs in the middle but if it's going to be 4-4-2 like it looks like Robbo fancies then for me it's got to be Mulraney and Cooper in the wide areas.. Maybe we will see Calder play further up the park with Chalmers at left back instead. Neither Calder nor Chalmers fill me with much hope but Calder seems to struggle with his defensive positioning from what i've seen so far although is a bit more mobile.. So flip a coin on which one plays tomorrow.
  2. Was a second year 17 last year and has been kept on by the club will most likely play at that level since we don't have 20s this year as well as the 3/4 other second year 17s from last year kept on.
  3. Ali Stark, Daniel Hoban, Andrew Macrae, Liam Macdonald, Cameron Mackay & Stephen Foster all still at the club and apart of first team squad.

  5. Part of the problem for me. If Jason Brown isn't ready to start at 20 years old will he ever be ready? Players need to be getting first team match experience younger.
  6. Joined and looking forward to a 3rd year! Cheers for running Biggin.
  7. I like to think the forum is a platform for opinions. You and all those who post positive messages are very much entitled to do so. However in the same vain everyone is entitled to reply to an opinion after all debate is a mainstay of almost all forums on the internet. In no way in my opinion has anyone overstepped the mark here in replies. I applaud you for remaining positive but i also applaud any supporter who continues to come back to support the team whether it's regularly or not. No wonder we struggle to gather support at times when people are so quick to put other supporters down.
  8. Late rally for 50 Shades of O'Shea! Hopefully make similar push up the table like the 1st team!
  9. Any chance off someone tech savvy putting a poster together and uploading as a .pdf file? Would happily spread around various work locations.
  10. I'd have to go with Markus Paatelainen though.. May just have been me that liked him mind.
  11. However his time at Farnborough in the Conference South appeared to give him the cult status elsewhere after 35 goals in 50 games: http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=67098 He even managed a trial at Swansea and was on Celtic's radar at one stage.. Supposedly: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/8791273.stm I certainly recall the Dean Mcdonald cult status being particularly strong in the west stand (singing section) against Arbroath in the cup.
  12. Very much agree with this. If are setting up with Doran playing of the left and potentially vincent and christie also with vincent on the right largely they all drift more central creating the space for the two fullbacks to get forward and deliver crosses. Shinnie is ideal to peform this exact role and David Raven is reasonably equipped to do so also on the right hand side.. Tremarco on the other hand is certainly not. I'd very much like to see us start with the below: Brill Raven Warren Meekings Shinnie Draper Tansey Doran Christie Watkins or Ross Mckay I feel Doran is of more use to us down the right hand side to allow him to deliver crosses into the area sooner rather than slowing the pace cutting inside from the left all the time. Watkins and Ross would be ahead in the picking order for me over Vincent. I'd prefer to see Nick Ross play and would anticipate that he would have played more under Hughes due to his ball retention ability over a guy like vincent but strangely isn't the case. Suspect we will see vincent/christie/Doran but would rather the above.
  13. My main concern at the moment is the lack of width. In Ryan Christie we have a Gem who yesterday when giving some space to operate in looked dangerous and put the Fleetwood defence on the backfoot. Yet we insist to play Aaron Doran on the left where he drifts inside as well as James Vincent doing the same on the right pulling more men into those areas limiting the space a player like Christie has to work in. After watching Fleetwood aimlessly hitting the ball long most of the day I must say I prefer are brand of football I just hope we don't always pass out from the back as it reminds me of Kilmarnock under Kenny Shiels where they would often put themselves under pressure losing the ball deep in their own half.

    Style of play.

The passing philosophy is fine I'd love good passing football if we were capable of it. Lets use two very good models of passing football with success. 1) Barcelona - Do they play with wingers? Why yes they do. 2) Bayern Munich - Do they play with winger? Why yes they do. All we acheive by packing the centre of the park is removing any space for the creative players to work in rather than allow for chances to be created in the centre. All defences in the league must be loving the thought of playing us right now. No plan B and plan A is useless to start with.
  15. Soon to be replaced by Kevin Thompson so we can move to a 4-6-0 formation with 6 centre midfielders.
  16. Most people were skeptical of Hughes when he was announced as boss. All would give him a chance and rightly so. What he needed though to get people on side was a good start at the club with people already unsure of him. He's done the exact opposite. I personally know over 10 people who have said won't return to watch caley with Hughes still in charge how many others will join them at this rate if he remains so stubborn with his tactics?
  17. If you are happy watching that sort of football for another season mithrandir that's fine but it'll be you and Hughes in the stadium alone. Don't think for a second the players will want to hang around with this style of football either as they are all being made to look like mugs due to his tactics. I can accept his philosophy of passing football but it's just stubbornness and is seriously hurting the clubs performances and will do no favours improving attendances which is hard enough as it is.
  18. How exactly anyone can back Hughes I don't know. I wanted to believe he'd identify his mistakes from past games but he just won't. I can't begin to understand how he can't recognise the faults so far nor how his coaching staff around him can't convince him to adapt his game plan.
  19. Brill Raven Warren Devine Shinnie Draper Polworth Ross Christie Williams Watkins *Mckay needs a rest and is seriously out of form. The chance he missed v st mirren makes that very clear. **Vincent offers absolutely nothing to the team in his current position and i'm skeptical at best of what he offers in behind the striker anyway. ***Christie/Polworth are both capable passers of the ball and can offer something different to draper in a creative sense so must start IMO. ****WE NEED WIDTH not inverted wingers either. Lets get the ball wide and get it into the box.
  20. Selling out you say? Attendance on saturday will most likely be in the 3,000 bracket at most in my opinion. Sad but true. See you all there..
  21. Mckay needs a rest for sure. Doesn't help he spends every game chasing nothing balls. When was the last time we created a 1v1 opportunity for Mckay in on goal..? I can't rememeber for sure. Vincent has been a bombscare since his return from injury and it scares me that hughes sees something in him. I'd have the team as below: Brill Raven--------------------------------------Warren------------------------------------------Meekings-----------------------------------------Shinnie --------------------------------------------------Draper----------Tansey-----------Foran---------------------------------------------------------------- -------------Doran--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Williams--------- Mckay *RE: Williams and Doran wide - Fed up of seeing doran cut in all the time and hog the space vincent/ross are to fill when in behind. So put him down the right and williams down the left to get some balls into Mckay and break out quicker. >With 65-70 minutes gone bring on Watkins up top for Mckay. >>Nick Ross on for Doran who will tire also around the 60 minute mark. >>>Also feel rather bad for Devine leaving him out of the team as performed very well and wouldn't be to disapointed if he kept his place.
