League Cup games
I came onto the scores late last night, with only 10 minutes to go in the various matches, and laughed so hard I almost crashed the car. Even if it is in the Who-cares Cup. Maybe it was a little schedenfreude, maybe it was a little bit relief after hearing for weeks how much better our tink cousins over the water were when compared to us, and maybe it is a little premature considering our test has yet to come in the match against Arbroath tonight, but that score line for the Staggies cheered me up no end. But how is it the BBC insists in calling it a “shock result”? They have only been in SPL for 5 minutes. They played a team they had been facing for oh-so-many years in the recent past and who were perfectly capable of beating them, being at a similar level. No shock there really. Kilmarnock – now that was a shock result (although Stenhousmuir famously humbled the shighty sheep a few years ago so not un-used to taking major scalps in cup competitions). But at least they didn’t have such a long journey back to their hovel to ponder on it . . .

Shop!
Is the online shop going through a revamp? There used to be a whole raft of kit available including headgear, ties and novelty items. Now there are only replica kits. Does that mean that if you want to get any these other items from the club shop you will actually have to visit it? Not a problem per se, but seems a dramatic reduction on what was previously on offer for no obvious reason.

League Cup 2nd Round - AWAY to Arbroath
I fancy this one. As I work in Aberdeen I will probably be driving from there after 1700 (it can take at least an hour to get out of town and head south as well!) so if anyone wants a lift PM me. The Arbroath FC has the league price at £12 for this season - is that likely to be the same or similar for a cup match? Pay at the gate?

Ian Black
I wonder how many of the boo boys would have been on their feet cheering if he had scored soon after being introduced though? Pathetic, really. The point of playing for the country is to put petty prejudices aside and get behind the team as a whole. He should at least be given his opportunity to shine.

Referee for Hearts
So three wins, two (close) losses and a draw, making 10 points out of a possible 18? Considering wins were few and far between last season . . . can we get him every week?

Its Dundee ?
Yeah, I thought something similar so I went to Dundee's website to see what the ticket prices are - nothing (unless I wanted a season ticket!). Ah well, must be due to the uncertainty of which league they would be in which is perfectly reasonable thinks I, so off I pop across the road to their oppo's website and find . . . the same, absolutely nowt. Now why would DUFC not have ticket prices ready I wonder . . . ?

Rangers go into administration
What a load of P***H Both hilarious and pathetic at the same time! It's the comments below that are most illuminating - apart from one sad bleat at the start, basically everyone else is ripping into this "open letter" and calling it what it is. A refusal to accept responsibility and to blame everyone else for their current and future woes. Thankfully it seems this clown is NOT representative of the vast majority of Rangers fans. And I echo earlier comments that I feel sorry for them, the ordinary supporter, who is having to watch what they thought was a strong and proud team to be humiliated and pilloried.

Dear Mr Cameron,
I have the horrible feeling that our Board will be waiting, hoping, for the critical 5 "no" votes to be announced by the other SPL clubs before they finally nail their own colours to the mast. It will be so much easier to vote "no" then when it is already more or less a fait accompli.
-
Dear Mr Cameron,
Seems fairly clear what the fans want - although I had to laugh at the "Rangers" response to "I would continue to attend SPL fixtures as normal". Er, no you won't. Also, why did we have the lowest number of respondents? Makes us look rather uninterested OR are we simply under-represented? Where and how was this survey collected anyway?

Kenny Shiels bumping his gums..
I think the point he's making is it's further doing it South-North than the other way round, isn't it   Aye, 'cos it's all uphill going North! :devious:

Kenny Shiels bumping his gums..
Aw, the wee diddums. Maybe, if they thought about it a bit better, they could just stay in the Jewel of the North during the interim between the games and enjoy a taste of true Highland hospitality? I mean no wonder he is depressed - realising that they have to return to Kilmarnock afterwards . . .

SPL fixture list
No clash with Celtic home fixtures, unsurprisingly. But Club 12 does clash with Dundee Utd's home games, which coulod turn out to be a problem. Eh? Both Celtic and Club 12 have home fixtures on the 2nd week, Saturday 11th August.

Dear Mr Cameron,
From a report on the radio last night, the sequence of events listed above is missing an important step - to be registered with the SFA the proposed club needs to have a firm offer of being included in a competitive league. Therefore they need to have the SPL vote sooner rather than later, as this underpins everything else. If the result was a resounding NO! then they would have to apply to the SFL and this adds yet more delay, before they can even consider any other aspect. As I understand it they have missed the deadlines for applications for the coming season to the SFL so why are we even still discussing it? As CaleyD notes above, time is not necessarily on their side and it supports the comment from Green that they may not be in competitive football for the next season which will give them the time required to sort it out. The main problem in all this is the negative impact on all the other clubs due to the uncertainty of it all. Supporters are holding off on buying season tickets, no one truly knows who the 12th team in the league will be and hence the league fixtures are in limbo until this is confirmed. They (Rangers NewCo) should do the decent thing and just declare the next season as fallow, thereby removing all this uncertainty and allowing the rest of us to get cracking on our preparations for the year ahead. Of course decency is not one of their strong points. Upshot is, as excruciatingly protracted this all seems to be, certain deadlines will force the issue and we are rapidly approaching that s**t-or-get-off-the-pot moment. And that cannot come too soon.

Dear Mr Cameron,
Not true. Any loss of revenue can be a prelude to a much larger loss, if it is based on something like principles, fairness and moral turpitude. The Club needs to take that into very careful consideration before they cast their vote. We are NOT the same as every other club. We are a HIGHLAND club where things like that still matter. What price success if you have to sell your soul to achieve it? Voting a Rangers NewCo in to the SPL will be like making a Faustian pact, and many fans will see it that way. Excellent post BTW, heartfelt.
-
Dear Mr Cameron,
Agreed - I have sent them an email on how strongly I feel about this topic. No European football for 3 years as a result of being a NewCo? Good. Gives them time to work through the leagues and prove that they have to fan base, the financial strength and the tactical nuance to return to the top flight. Without cheating this time.

That club from Dingwall
On a lighter note, seeing as they will be travelling over the bridge to our hallowed ground for the foreseeable, I have come across a suitable logo for their travelling (home AND away) support.

under 19s
Say what? Is that the same as the "it's not the winning, it's the taking part" mantra for perpetual losers? Football, as a team sport, is about competition. I agree that not everyone can win the league or the cup, but they should be learning how to compete and not just kick a ball. If you go into a game thinking "it doesn't really matter if we beat them or not" then guess what? They'll get beat. If they go in thinking "we have the talent, the skill and the tactics to beat this opposition" then they are going in with the right attitude and they have a good chance of winning. It is only in individual sports where the person can claim that they are seeking only to improve on their personal best or their ranking position, even if that means they come last in a race or fail to win the medal on the course. A team is, correctly, judged on their results and their league position. If these lads are looking to take up professional football as a career, I am sure they will be very aware of the need to demonstrate competitive spirit. Otherwise they are just making up numbers.
