  1. He does have management experience at international level though, albeit with one at the bottom of the Top 50 in the FIFA Rankings.
  2. Good thread CaleyD. Nice to see the club promoting the back-room staff and pointing out that a football club is more than just 11 players on the park. In a time when we are constantly being told depressing news about how young people aren't getting work, it is heartening to see someone getting an opportunity to work full time in a job they obviously enjoy. BZ Mathew.
  3. Benefits of being Highlanders!
  4. According to local legend, that one is supposedly about the sinking of the RMS Titanic, where the local rag had the headline "North East man dies at sea" with the lesser tag line of "1,500 others also feared dead"! Mind you, that still happens in the papers today - major earthquakes and so on which have major loss of life are suddenly even more pertinent in British media eyes when there is at least one or more Brits involved. C'est la vie.
  5. Good positive article in terms of stating ambition, but proof will be in the pudding. A win against the Paisley posse would be a good start.
  6. That is brilliant - gave me a giggle and reminded me of this: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/german-tv-news-host-confuses-star-trek-logo-153134141.html
  7. Aye, something to do with sausages??
  8. Surely they would just shift allegiance [back] to Rangers?
  9. Is no-one going to say it? Really? Does it have to be me? Alright then . . . Celtic narrowly avoided a humiliating defeat by scraping a 3-1 win against sub-standard foreign johnnies in Glasgow last night. Lennon looked a shocked and worried man as his tactics spectacularly failed to achieve the planned 0-3 loss that his team selection was destined for. As he left the ground last night the embattled manager was overheard to mutter "I don't understand it . . . how did it manage to go so right?"
  10. Yet another last minute winner for the opposition . . .
  11. It could be that it is due to carrying a long-term niggling injury, but it also occurred to me that the drop in enthusiasm by Foran may have been caused by the extended period of injury with Hayes and the move away by Rooney - I just wondered how close a group they really were and if these changes have upset a delicate equilibrium. Of course, that could just be due to my inherent paranoia and coffee-induced headache . . .
  12. Eh? How'd he manage that???
  13. The term, which was from yourself, was actually "sitting rock bottom" and I had inferred that to mean what I said in my post which is not necessarily the case. My error, apologies. However, I still believe that this is good news as it should still any rumblings or uncertainties, at least for a while. Then again, when things really are tough, no manager ever wants to hear a Club spokesperson say " . . . . has the full confidence of the Board . . . " as that is usually an indicator of this: !!!
  14. So we are "firmly rooted at the bottom of the table" are we .. .? We are 1 point behind the three teams above us, two points behind thetwo above them. One win and one or more of those above losing and wecould be up 2 or 3 places and right back in it. In terms of goaldifferences, we are on -9 as is Dumfermline with Hibs on -7. Aberdeen areon -3, courtesy of their recent 4-0 thumping of the Fifers. And even StMirren are still within our sights. There is a loooooong way to go in this league. Our new team isstarting to show some confidence and therefore results. The picture ismuch more hopeful now than it was at the start but they just need to keepplaying and keep grinding out results. Too much of football is about sacking managers, but there are heavycosts involved in that mindset and it is too often the easy answer to what areusually much deeper underlying issues. To create a measure of stabilityat this stage shows that the board have confidence in the strategy that Terryand June have laid out and are willing to put their money where their mouth is. More sail!
  15. You're right . . . it is just you!
  16. Possibly - but how do we change them round at half-time without the opposition fans noticing . . . ?
  17. It may be a false memory, but did we not used to have a bodran player or two at the games? Smaller, lighter, and give a good background sound. And if we didn't, why not get someone to play them now? Would be easier to get into the ground than a clarsach . . . .
  18. Yawn. See if you can find a different drum while you are online, this one is wearing a bit thin now . . .
  19. Many thanks to everyone involved in bringing this to fruition - downloaded it, now all I need to do is find the time to read it!
  20. I saw one of the players come towards us and clapped us on Saturday, but most fans were already heading for the exit and probably never saw him.
  21. FoolPhysio replied to CaleyD's topic in Caley Thistle
    Excellent!
  22. I'll be there and I'll be taking my eldest lass for her first football match - I promised her last year when she was 5 that when she was 6 I would take her to a game and she turned 6 in July!
  23. At least it is a point. But we need to do much better defensively if we are to climb up the table.
  24. Twice from behind and now in front - one more and put it safe!!!!
