  1. You complain about lack of communication but don't appear to have read the statement!
  2. Nothing to do with being progressive and forward looking, everything to do with a benefactor funding their losses of around £1.5m a year.

These players' contracts or loans have expired. What do you suggest we should have done - offer them all contracts just in case the new manager does actually want to keep any of them?! By the time the season starts I'm pretty sure we will have replaced them with players who are both better and cheaper than some of the names on that list. It's far too early to panic.
  4. Well, it's not really a surprise in that it would have been the signing of the century if a player plucked from amateur Sunday league football in Ireland had made it as a first team regular here, but it maybe is a surprise that he wasn't given longer to adapt and develop.
  5. Statement also confirms that we offered Fisher a contract but he has chosen to join another (unnamed) club.
  6. I was looking at managers we've appointed since reaching the top flight. It may well be the case, though, that younger managers are more likely to flourish in the lower leagues where we are now, it's a more forgiving environment where you can make mistakes while you are learning and still have success.
  7. Hmm, let's have a look at that. Experienced jobbers - Butcher and Hughes Younger managers - Foran, Christie, Brewster. Pretty clear which category gave us our most successful era!
  8. Delay selling season tickets until we have some positive news? Don't think so.
  9. No. It's not ideal but things can keep moving along regardless. We have other directors, and the chairman will no doubt we racking up a hefty mobile bill. Depending on where he is, he might even be closer to some managerial candidates and signing targets, as this is peak time for football folk to go on holiday.
  10. Club needs the income if we are to stand any chance of bouncing back up. On the bright side, you are almost guaranteed more entertainment and more wins than last season!

Daily Express say that McNaughton, Anier, Laing and Horner are not wanted, whilst Fisher and Meekings are expected to turn down contract offers. However, this is the paper that announced we were sticking with Foran.......
  12. Agree that the timing is lousy, but it's still more important to find Mr Right rather than a Mr Right-now, even if it takes a couple of weeks. (Getting Mr Wright would be even better, but back to reality.....) A new manager will be more than happy to build his own team rather than have the vast majority of his budget already committed on players. If the Daily Express is to be believed (I know....!) contract offers have been made to Meekings and Fisher, and I don't think anyone would disagree that they are the out of contract players who are most worth keeping. The rest, meh.
  13. When he grows up he want to be Darren Dods....
  14. He was a first team regular throughout his 4 seasons there, racking up over 130 appearances in that time. Arbroath are one of those yo-yo clubs. Too big for the 4th flight, not big enough for the 2nd. He took them from 4th to 3rd and then back down again. There's nothing in that record that suggests he is a particularly good manager. I remember we played at Arbroath in that era and won 2-0, League Cup. Can't remember anything about how they played. (I do recall though that they had Tony Bullock in goals, and a sub called Banjo).
  15. Arbroath! They certainly weren't cheering him when he drove drunk from Dundee to Perth in his club car. Lengthy ban served, but still a blot on his record.
  16. Aye right......
  17. I was thinking the same, 9th is pretty poor. I know this league is more about development than results, but still, you'd think that with Aberdeen's large pool of talent, some good organisation, tactics, motivation etc from the coach would see them do a lot better than that.
  18. It's a welcome sign of progress that, for the first time ever, nobody is seriously suggesting the return of Steve Paterson or John Robertson. How many more managerial changes will there have to be before we see the end of calls to bring back Butcher or Hughes?!
  19. Regarding the wording of the statement, did people notice that Foran has not actually left the club? He has merely vacated the position of manager, which strongly implies that he remains an employee and will continue to be on the payroll. I'm not suggesting that he'll be given a different role, it's more likely that he'll be on gardening leave until he gets another job (similar to Hughes?).
  20. Had a few glasses of Chardonnay one evening (by her own admission) then decided to contribute to this forum!
  21. Just something to think about regarding about a couple of the names in the frame - how successful have former players been as ICT manager? Brewster 2nd time around* was very poor and got us relegated. Foran was an absolute disaster and got us relegated. * Brewster was an ex player when he joined us the 2nd time but wasn't the first time!
  22. I wonder if the Daily Express will start their article with "In a shock U-turn........"
  23. Goodness me, can people stop suggesting that he walked, or might not want compensation, just days after he stated that he was determined to carry on and bring us back up!
  24. I hope to goodness you mean Dods!
  25. Utd is a better away day - better pubs and better view from the stand.
