New Chairman - Willie Finlayson
My understanding is that club directors, and the team manager, just have to sign a form confirming that they are a "fit and proper" person under the SFA's articles. It is accepted at face value unless the SFA have information to the contrary and ask for further evidence. It is clearly not a difficult hurdle to overcome!

New Chairman - Willie Finlayson
Well spotted. A very curious turn of events.

Season Ticket Prices
Well, the manager will be a better one than Foran and the players will all make more effort than Anier. That's a start!

Agreed, but it was always an odd, risky signing. What he can take from this though, is that just a couple of weeks after playing amateur football he was playing at Celtic Park (just don't mention the score....)

Season Ticket Prices
At the end of the day, the prices are set at a level the club thinks will maximise revenue. If they lowered the prices and it reduced our overall income by (say) £50,000, that sum would just get knocked off our wage budget for the season, it's as simple as that unfortunately.

Our final team sheet of the season spelt 3 of them wrong! Vugurs wasn't happy!

You complain about lack of communication but don't appear to have read the statement!

Nothing to do with being progressive and forward looking, everything to do with a benefactor funding their losses of around £1.5m a year.

These players' contracts or loans have expired. What do you suggest we should have done - offer them all contracts just in case the new manager does actually want to keep any of them?! By the time the season starts I'm pretty sure we will have replaced them with players who are both better and cheaper than some of the names on that list. It's far too early to panic.

Who should we keep, who should we punt?
Well, it's not really a surprise in that it would have been the signing of the century if a player plucked from amateur Sunday league football in Ireland had made it as a first team regular here, but it maybe is a surprise that he wasn't given longer to adapt and develop.

Who should we keep, who should we punt?
Statement also confirms that we offered Fisher a contract but he has chosen to join another (unnamed) club.

New Manager
I was looking at managers we've appointed since reaching the top flight. It may well be the case, though, that younger managers are more likely to flourish in the lower leagues where we are now, it's a more forgiving environment where you can make mistakes while you are learning and still have success.

Delay selling season tickets until we have some positive news? Don't think so.

CHAIRMAN ON HOLIDAY
No. It's not ideal but things can keep moving along regardless. We have other directors, and the chairman will no doubt we racking up a hefty mobile bill. Depending on where he is, he might even be closer to some managerial candidates and signing targets, as this is peak time for football folk to go on holiday.

Club needs the income if we are to stand any chance of bouncing back up. On the bright side, you are almost guaranteed more entertainment and more wins than last season!

Daily Express say that McNaughton, Anier, Laing and Horner are not wanted, whilst Fisher and Meekings are expected to turn down contract offers. However, this is the paper that announced we were sticking with Foran.......

Who should we keep, who should we punt?
Agree that the timing is lousy, but it's still more important to find Mr Right rather than a Mr Right-now, even if it takes a couple of weeks. (Getting Mr Wright would be even better, but back to reality.....) A new manager will be more than happy to build his own team rather than have the vast majority of his budget already committed on players. If the Daily Express is to be believed (I know....!) contract offers have been made to Meekings and Fisher, and I don't think anyone would disagree that they are the out of contract players who are most worth keeping. The rest, meh.

Who should we keep, who should we punt?
When he grows up he want to be Darren Dods....

New Manager
He was a first team regular throughout his 4 seasons there, racking up over 130 appearances in that time. Arbroath are one of those yo-yo clubs. Too big for the 4th flight, not big enough for the 2nd. He took them from 4th to 3rd and then back down again. There's nothing in that record that suggests he is a particularly good manager. I remember we played at Arbroath in that era and won 2-0, League Cup. Can't remember anything about how they played. (I do recall though that they had Tony Bullock in goals, and a sub called Banjo).
