  1. There are 2 sides to every story and I'd be surprised (and appalled) if this were as clear cut as is being portrayed. The other significant aspect of this story, which nobody has mentioned, is that Shearer is no longer required because we have decided not to enter the Development League.
  2. Or maybe he just didn't get the job.
  3. Just read an article on BC Vital website which said 3 clubs are already very keen on Shinnie and BC may be willing to let him go "for the paultry figure of £150,000". Next!
  4. It has become apparent that Robbo has been assembling a crack squad and training has started already.
  5. Tommy Wright would seem the obvious choice if I were them.
  6. He might be a plonker at times but he's also our best midfielder. To describe him as a liability is nonsense. 53 caps, 6 yellows, no reds. For a hard tackling, combative midfielder that's a very good record at any level.
  7. How would they know that if we don't? Presumably they would suspend because there has been a large bet or pattern of betting which indicates that there are people who already know who is getting the job.
  8. The cheap option would be an out of work manager for whom any salary is an improvement, and no compensation is required.

Would make a change from us being raided by Aberdeen!
  10. Here's a different analogy. If you go to the cinema, you pay the same ticket price regardless of the budget of the film in question. Often, low budget films are better than the huge budget ones with big name stars and special effects. Our previous 2 seasons in the 2nd flight were right up there with the most enjoyable seasons in our history. How many of our ST holders would have wanted to miss out on that for the sake of an extra couple of quid per game?
  11. This says more about you than it says about any economic theory!
  12. You'll have noted that we didn't repeat those cheap deals this season, presumably because they just result in lower income. County offered free admission to one game and didn't remotely fill the ground, further proof of price inelasticity.
  13. Under Butcher and Hughes it certainly wasn't an inferior product to our previous stint in the top flight, quite the opposite, but crowds were still lower. Other factors must be having an effect.
  14. Football tickets and season tickets are actually price inelastic, like cigarettes - enough of the hardcore fans/addicts will keep paying more to outweigh the impact of ones who don't.

Well said. I hope Don realised that the critics were a very small minority. I'm sure I don't just speak for myself when I say I have enjoyed the vast improvements in club media in recent years and should have expressed some appreciation of the volunteers who made it all happen.
  16. There's a huge difference between the two, in that Foran didn't want to be removed from his role....
  17. Jamie McCart was in the Scotland U20 team that beat Brazil (Brazil!!!) at the Toulon Tournament yesterday.

Bobby had previously played (very well) against us for Forfar, which no doubt contributed to our decision to buy him.

Anier, Vigurs and Cole? Ok I'll try again - Warren, Draper, Tremarco.

The other legends from that season, not present, were Brown, Golabek, Tokely, Duncan and McBain. Charlie only made 3 starts + 3 off the bench

Are they having a get together to watch the big final this evening (Britains Got Talent)?!
  22. Always enjoyed the tweets, there have been some memorable one-liners. Any particular reason given for the resignation?
  23. Wow, it turned out just as Rasczak predicted earlier in this thread!
  24. Group winners and best 4 of the 8 runners up go through. Fixture dates and TV coverage announced next week.
