  1. I will make no comment on this one from Lyon.
  2. Unused sub in a 1-1 draw. Last minute equaliser for Slovakia puts an end to any qualification hopes for Scotland, who must nowbeat Lux. to get 3rd place ahead of Georgia.
  3. It's great that we can have a discussion trying to choose between 2 prolific strikers. The equivalent thread on a County forum would be comparing stats for the likes of Sam Morrow and Gary Glen!
  4. I believe ICT legend Andrew Barrowman finally got a taste of international football yesterday! Presumably both he and Connor Pepper would have been in the Morton side that took on Scotland behind closed doors. Apparently it ended 3-0, hopefully to Scotland.
  5. Just to put this one to bed, John Christophe Ayina has since signed for Getafe B, in Spain's 3rd tier.
  6. Sounds like a reaching-the-end-of-my-career move - where can I get the most money?! ! I've never heard of them - but I doubt he had either, until they showed interest. He certainly wouldn't have heard of us before signing, but money talks! I always felt he was lazy with us, although at times you could see he had class. A friend in Turkey has told me he has left without a game as the technical director didn't agree with his wage Yes, it seems he wasn't paid the signing on fee he was expecting and is now looking elsewhere. A couple of Romanian clubs interested, unsurprisingly, but according to one report his old club Dinamo Bucharest only offered him 3,500 Euros a month so he's looking abroad again.
  7. Craig Beattie notches up another club, I see. The road to ruin goes something like this : Celtic, Scotland, West Brom, Swansea (as recently as 2012), then........ Hearts, St Johnstone, Barnet, Dundee, Zeebugg (Malta) for 2 weeks, and now Ayr Utd. Recently declared bankrupt as well.
  8. Those teams have done very well. Other than ICT, Dundee are the only other unbeaten team in the league, making our disappointing draw with them a better result than it seemed at the time. Meanwhile, ICT are the only team to have taken anything from Hamilton!
  9. Well if Stevie May can't save County, no-one can!
  10. They're all better than County?
  11. Blimey, we're good!
  12. Burnley - Man U also ended 0-0 ealier, and I liked the stat I heard. Di Maria cost £15m more than all the Burnley players put together. To clarify, all the Burnley players from their entire 132 year history!
  13. Comments from Roy Mcgregor on Butcher as a potential replacement: "He certainly was a motivator [at Inverness], he did a wonderful job there. He has an affiliation with the Highlands. "I think an affiliation with the Highlands is really important and that they understand what our area is about."
  14. Getting back to the FSV Frankurt thing from a couple of weeks ago, I don't think it got mentioned here that a few days after the rumour appeared, an official from the German club denied any interest in Billy. "That is no longer a duck but a swan" is how they put it. ("Das ist schon keine Ente mehr, sondern ein Schwan" if anyone can do better than the literal translation)
  15. Oh go on then 2 years on and a few lines are still applicable : "They're going for the treble and we're fighting relegation!"
  16. Agreed. There was also the time he was barged to the ground by Jamie Hammill. Can we get some video clips please, just for old times sake? A Derek Adams tribute compilation, if you like.
  17. There can't be many managers who get sacked after a win!
  18. We will all actually miss him. It was great that County were managed by someone we could so easily ridicule, for poor results, his derby record and most of all, his personality.
  19. Apparently he's seething
  20. Wow, wasn't expecting that! His Dad's gone too.
  21. Getting back on topic.......... I wonder to what extent ICT were waiting to see if we would be getting the £100k Champions League windfall to determine how much we can afford to increase the wage bill by? Celtic's failure is a severe financial blow to the smaller clubs like ours.
  22. Aye OK, it's Bute House, Charlotte Square...........and if you could somehow arrange the latter too....
  23. [terrible, contrived tabloid headline alert!] [obscure literary reference alert!] If Celtic get knocked out tonight because their striker scores an own goal, would that be a Maribor Stokes Nightmare? By way of an apology, I will not only fetch me coat I will also provide my own tumbleweed. :tumbleweed:
  24. I'm genuinely surprised that none these guys ever featured for County! Speaking of which, remember Mark Hately? Milan.....Monaco.....Rangers.....Dingwall.
  25. I caught part of a radio interview the other day with an eccentric sounding foreign keeper who had some great stories to tell. I missed his name but later googled some of his former clubs to identify him as Lutz Pfannenstiel. Can't say I can recall ever hearing of him before, but what an interesting career he had, which including "dying" on the pitch after a collision. His aim was always to play as much as possible, never setling for a place on the bench, and that led him all over the world to rack up a remarkable 25 clubs before he retired at 36. He would often play all year round by moving continents when one season ended, and became the first footballer to play in all 6 FIFA confederations. He spent over 3 months in a hellish Asian jail fighting for food and fending off rape attempts, after charges of match-fixing. The odd thing is he was accused of conspiring to win games! After asking to be released from a contract in Albania, he claims the chairman pulled out a gun and said "Let's negotiate!" The fans there were apparently crazy: one week, after a win they gave him an eagle, then soon afterwards after a defeat they put bricks through his window. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17593237 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutz_Pfannenstiel If I was a footballer I'm sure I'd find that sort of career to be more rewarding than going to Kilmarnock and Motherwell every few weeks!
