Noticed also that Connah’s Quay have just signed Jason Oswell from Newtown. They’ll be hoping he scores more for them than young Ferguson did! Oswell (32) has had a decent career as a striker in the Welsh leagues and English non-leagues since his brief spell (2 appearances) with us in 2012/13.

I was looking back at the team line-ups and how far they went with their careers. Ryan obviously the stand-out with his success in the EPL and 59 caps. Shinnie also went on to a higher level, the EFL Championship and got a few Scotland caps too. In the Falkirk side, Will Vaulks was their best player at the time and on the day itself, and he’s had a really good career with various EFL Championship sides and got a few Wales caps too. A curious one is Botti Biabi. After the final he got a big move to Premiership side Swansea for a 6 figure fee, but never played for them and after a few years was back here in the Scottish lower leagues, then Brechin in the HL. And now, still only 29, Drumchapel Utd can boast a former Scottish cup finalist in their squad!

It was a wonderful occasion for us. Vincent’s late winner and then the final whistle were incredible moments. However I didn’t enjoy a lot of the game though. Absolutely delighted. Livi were by far the better side in both legs and went through pretty comfortably despite gifting County a 2 goal head start tonight. Hale looked a good player throughout but other than him County had no fight and their team of mercenaries easily fell apart. It was a joy to watch.

So this will start as a 30 team league, comprising League 1, League 2 and SPL B teams. Each team plays 6 matches (between August and November) then the top 22 progress to the knockout stage where the 10 Championship sides join. The prize money has been increased, but I expect teams like us will be using the group stage to give game time to youngsters and fringe players.

Yeah the perennial relegation dodgers got lucky again, scraping a draw with a soft injury time penalty when Livi had been much the better team. Alex Samuel got booked for diving, having got away with a previous dive.

Such a shame. I thought he showed great promise and would have been a first team regular had it not been for those awful injuries..

I would suggest that the keeper resorted to desperate measures because it WAS a clear goalscoring opportunity into an open goal.

Not just Scotland that has dodgy VAR decisions! Insufficient evidence that the keeper handled the ball outside the box so no red card.

I recall that game was a day or two after Christmas. I was visiting family down in the Borders and decided to go to the game, but soon got caught in a blizzard and thought this is madness, so I turned back. So the only times I’ve been to that ground are when my daughter’s team had cup finals that were held there. Those finals now get played at Hampden but we never got that privilege, which is a shame.

True but I think East Fife could do quite well in League 1 whereas Annan would have been down at the bottom again.

Not sure how I feel about Billy getting another year. For about 40 games this season he looked pretty much finished - some good hold up play and passes but he wasn’t sharp and offered no goalscoring threat. Then when his contract is about to expire he puts in 3 great performances with goals! I guess it was only out of necessity that he was starting every week, and hopefully we will be able to sign a goalscoring striker or two this summer so that Billy is an option rather than the only option.
