Another stat is that in recent times around half of Team GB's medals have come from the minority who were privately educated. I think you'd find that is the case today even for the current crop of Scottish medallists.

Currently 9 out of Team GB's 37 medals (24%) had Scottish involvement. When you factor in the number of team members receiving medals it becomes 9 out of 75 (12%) which is still pretty impressive but much closer to our share of the team and indeed population.

Earlier in the competition, you would have got a figure like 50% but only if you fully attributed to Scotland any team event medals where one of the team members was Scottish.

    Every flipping game this season!
  5. Doesn't look like it. He has just had a trial with Kidderminster Harriers but didn't get a deal.

Nothing worse than conceding a late goal like that, but I'd have taken a draw before kick-off, and even more at half-time.

As it stands, we're top of the league (and they're no).

    Is Requero injured?

Seriously? Who do you think might bridge the 31+ points gap?
  13. I recall that the nature of that vote was one that only required 8 out of 12, but matters like distribution of income require the 11, and I son't think that has been resolved yet. But it needs to be.
  14. The Guardian is of course renowned for its coverage and analysis of Scottish football......

I thought you were joking but it appears to be true (although his name is actually Phillipa York rather than Hill, my sources tell me). The other famous Scottish cylist Graeme Obree turned out to be bipolar, gay, and made 3 suicide attempts. Somebody should warn Hoy that those hard bike seats must do something to you.
  16. You been listening to Rick Astley's "Together Forever" again?

Charles, do you remember Inverness gold medallist George Cornet? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/18396032
  18. Excellent! I see they've included the celebration in the snow shown in post #30 (v Killie in 2009).

    1. Games with low gate receipts lose money, as you still have to pay for stewarding, police, cleaning, match officials etc. 2. St Mirren don't get to see how we line up and play, with what would probably be as close to our starting line up for Paisley as injuries would allow.
  20. From County's wikipedia page, the sentence in bold has been there for months. "Their main rivals are fellow Highlanders, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who they contest the Highland derby with. However, County have only finished above their rivals twice in their 18 seasons in the league."
  21. This new Sky/ESPN package is reported to be £13m a year, of which £1m goes to the SFL leaving £12m for the SPL clubs. At the time of the votes on readmitting Newco, did Doncaster & Co not warn teams that the TV money would drop from the current £15m to just £3m without Rangers?
  22. It's 25 SPL games + 5 The Rangers matches according to Sky. So are ESPN pulling out or will they looking for a separate deal over and above what Sky are showing? I'm surprised at how few games there are, for both SPL and Rangers matches.
  23. One thing to bear in mind is that whilst ST sales are down 20% on last year we still have almost 2 weeks to go til the first home game, so the gap will narrow a bit when people make last minute purchases. A good performance and result at Paisley would sway the undecided.
