  1. Hadn't realised that Mario Frick has scored more international goals (16) than Kenny Miller or any other current Scottish player. In fact he's scored more than the entire Scotland team added together. Edit to add - thought he was injured but he's in the starting line-up. Teams that have failed to beat Liechtenstein in recent years include Portugal, Latvia, Finland and Lithunia (twice in this campaign). I'd expect us to win this one 2-0 before failing gloriously at the final hurdle.
  2. Where's Dargo? He'd be in my top 3, never mind 5.
  3. I was also on that non-bcc'd email, but have received nothing at all from them, so I wouldn't assume that was the source.
  4. Two comments: 1) Don't rule out the possibility that as a precondition, the new overseas investors might have stipulated that they want the management team on a longer term contract than at present. 2)Just because they have a contract until 2014 doesn't mean they will be here until then. These days its pretty common to have clauses that allow the management team to leave if they get a better offer (perhaps dependent on a specified level of compensation for ICT) and going the other way, a clause which allows the club to terminate their contracts at any time in return for a sliding scale of compensation depending on when the sacking takes place.
  5. Oh dear!
  6. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, Rooney was a prolific penalty taker. Which got me thinking......to get a true like-for-like comparison, should Tade not be our new penalty taker? I don't know if he's ever taken one, and maybe he'd surprise us, but I just wouldn't fancy him with from 12 yards with all the time in the world, which is an odd thing to say about a forward. Can you imagine we are in the Scottish Cup final. Extra time....penalties....sudden death. 9 of our players have taken one and there's only Esson and Tade still to go. You'd want Esson up next, wouldn't you?
  7. In summary, defenders fear Tade, but keepers don't!
  8. This season, Tade has scored 50% more goals than Rooney.
  9. What we have to bear in mind is that if Tade possessed natural finishing ability, over and above the good attributes he already has, he'd be playing at a much higher level than ICT.
  10. I think that's the first ICT game this season that has been won by the team that conceded the first goal.
  11. Phew, delighted to get a win today.
  12. He certainly seems to do better when he doesn't have time to think.
  13. Dougal's questions focus on the capabilities of individual defenders, but the other key element of a good defence is of course working as a unit, building an understanding. In that regard, the constant changes mean we are effectively still at the pre-season stage.
  14. Respectable result, and possibly our best defensive performance away from home this season?
  15. 0-0, then Golobart comes on......
  16. And the winner of this week's "most interesting phrase" award.....
  17. He doesn't like the commute, unsurprisingly, and doesn't plan on being there much longer. Scotsman:
  18. Butcher pleads for patience
  19. Dull dull dull. BBC picked the wrong match.
  20. The clubs are currently checking that the proposed date meets with Dougal's approval.
  21. For kids nowadays the opposite is true.
  22. Thought we were very good in the first half, controlling the midfield and looking threatening on the attack. But poor defending cost us this game. Not for the first time, and not for the last, I'm sure.
  23. Cool, only ?15 to get in. The Gerry Kerr stand is the old, wooden seated bit just down the touchline from where we normally are.
  24. Aye, and Lennon can consider himself very lucky I wasn't there at that point....cos I'd have issued him with a strongly worded letter.
  25. I think the match referee is assumed to have made the right decision unless there is clear evidence that he got it wrong. Which he did. I had a great side-on view of the incident and there was quite a few inches of daylight between the two players heads. I was so angry about it that I wrote to Martin O'Neill telling him what a cheating, lying ***t his club captain was, but to this day he still hasn't replied
