  1. You know how you always see Newcastle fans bare chested in the stands no matter how cold it is? Its not because they're hard, its because they're embarrassed to be seen in Newcastle shirts!
  2. Just home from the game, it was fantastic towards the end and when the whistle went. And to cap it all off, in Harry's Bar after the game a bunch of English merchant bankers (!) finished their bottle of expensive wine and left the bar.........one of them dropping a ?20 note as they walked past. I picked it up and ran after them to hand it back, but had one of those moments where your legs just feel like lead, and sadly they got away. :003:
  3. One of them was interviewed on the radio and said he had brought a change of clothes for the trip..............the away top!
  4. Reported on BBC that Gretna are holding what sound like crisis talks tomorrow, to see if and how they can can make it through to the end of the season without Mileson ploughing more money in to cover the spiralling losees. It appears that Mileson Jnr is in charge of the family purse strings at the moment and he has not been particularly willing to pour his inheritance down the drain.
  5. I agree, Dundee Utd should be sent back to the First Division.
  6. He's no Paul Ritchie! If he doesn't break through and consistently demonstrate abilities that we have only seen at first team level in a couple of the 50 or so opportunities he's had, then it would be in his and the club's interest for him to be released from his contract this summer. He could then go out and find his level, wherever that might be. And ICT could then give a promising youngster like Wood the chance to step up.
  7. I think it is fair to say that if Rory doesn't break through between now and the end of the season, when there is nothing to play for, and at a time when other players are underperforming, then he never will.
  8. Barry said in the local paper here that his days at ICT might be numbered, but he still has another season in him as a player before hopefully moving in to coaching.
  9. What surprises me from that article is the statement that Rowan Alexander's compensation claim is for ?750,000, which being 5 years notice suggests they were paying him ?150,000 a year.
  10. Sad to hear today that Canadian (Toronto) blues guitarist Jeff Healey has died, just 41. He's by no means a household name, and his music sounded very unoriginal IMO. He does however have a remarkable story. After losing both of his eyes to cancer aged one, he took pleasure in music and first played guitar aged 3. Not having ever seen how it should be played, he just did what seemed easiest for someone with small hands to get a note out of it, and thus developed a very strange looking technique : rather than hold the guitar in conventional fashion with its neck resting in the left palm, he sits it on his lap, face up, and puts his fingertips on it as if he was playing piano. It's a really awkward, impossible looking technique, but the blues solos he produces are incredible. I just watched some on YouTube and still don't understand how he did it.
  11. Alex, I agree that we had a transfer window that we will regret for the rest of the season. But what puzzles me is that at that time we were the form team in the league and on a great run of results that took us from relegation to top 6, achieved : - with Brewster as manager - with Niculae - with McGuire - without Dods - with Duncan - without Wilson playing regularly - without Hart playing at all Yes we lost Rankin, but we have lost far better players than him in the past and just kept getting better. The only thing that has really changed is the rise to prominence of discontent in the dressing room from some key players. With contracts and earnings being at the heart of the problem, what could the manager do about that at 2pm on Saturday, or again this coming Saturday?
  12. I believe that Brewster did his best on Saturday. Can the same be said for all of the players? Yes the manager has to take responsibility for the poor performance, but the reality is that there's only so much he can do.
  13. Until yesterday Hearts fans would have begged us to swap Nade for Niculae.
  14. He came on and played the 2nd half against Dundee today - the day in which both ICTs and St J's seasons ended.
  15. I had thought about travelling up to this one. So glad I didn't, but my thoughts are with those who did make a long journey, or any sort of journey for that matter, to see a performance like that.
  16. A team that lets Calum Elliot score 2 goals against them should all have their contracts terminated, immediately.
  17. It's on the official St J website that he has signed as a 1 month emergency loan and trained with the squad today. There's a pic of him at the ground, along with other loan signings Sean Lynch (Hibs) and Elton John, apparently.
  18. What happened between 1991 and 2000? Too drunk to remember? Or do you just not want to mention your Spice Girls and Boyzone phase?
  19. In between The Sash and Rule Britannia, Rangers fans were singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot at their game tonight. First time I've heard that one. Presumably they are doing it to imply affiliation the England rugby team, rather than showing empathy with black slaves? I can just imagine these Rangers fans having picnics before the game from the back of their Ranger Rovers, and then cracking open the Pimms to celebrate, before returning to their highly paid stockbroking jobs the next day.
  20. What, already? :029:
  21. Or did FC Kaunas sell Hearts top scorer?!
  22. Time for some British humour, this was a sketch on Mitchell & Webb : The scene is the 1960s, and a housewife is happily washing the dishes whilst listening to the wireless. Upstairs, the husband furtively closes the bedroom door and curtains. He gets a melon out of the cupboard and proceeds to cut a hole in it. He then drops his trousers and gets down to business. Suddenly his wife shouts up the stairs "Darling, darling, you won't believe what's happened..........JFK's been shot!" :029:
  23. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, they were much better 20-25 years ago. Edinburgh Playhouse 1988 gets my vote. Those were the days when big bands played local theatres, and the atmosphere and sound quality tended to be so much better than present day arena/stadium gigs.
  24. Just how good must Boca Seniors be?
  25. Are those song lyrics? David Byrne?
