  1. You need to consider the population living within reasonable travelling distance for a night out.
  2. Bad result. I expected better. So disappointing to go out of the Cup like that.
  3. Disappointed to see that Reece McAlear has signed for Ayr, on loan from Tranmere.
  4. I enjoyed the section on the latest Wyness Shuffle reminiscing on January transfer window signings from years gone by. They managed to trawl up some names we’d all been trying to forget!

No, he explained what the role was and what additional projects Robbo had been working on. I think it was pretty clear for anyone who was prepared to listen with an open mind. Whether or not a club in our predicament can afford to have a DoF role is certainly up for debate, but as the position only came about because Robbo had 2 years left on his managerial contract, I doubt we’ll be retaining that structure unless we somehow get promoted.
  6. FT 2-2. Not a bad result, away to another mid table side, but not a good result either.

Is it at the end of this season that his managerial contract expires?

It does seem odd that he chooses to do other paid work on a match day. He doesn’t NEED to be at our matches, as he’s not part of the coaching set up, and as for scouting, his job is not to identify what we need but to go out and find what the manager says we need - but still, you’d think he’d WANT to be at matches.
  9. Darvel win announced as “The biggest upset in Scottish Cup history” in the Reporting Scotland news headlines.
  10. The one that says “We are delighted to announce the signing of George Oakley on a deal until the Summer of 2024“?!
  11. Yes I was wondering where that upset ranks in the list of biggest SC shocks, and also whether any of the tabloids will do a Superdarvelgoballistic…” headline! Darvel did great and worked so hard all over the pitch, against a team 5 leagues above them. They are pretty well resourced for a part-time team though, and were up against a team in poor form, to the extent that BBC sensed blood and picked the match for live coverage. Our rivals to the title of biggest upset (Berwick, Clyde, Darvel) all had the significant advantage of playing at home. And they only won by 1 goal!
  12. Stumbled across this, we seem to have gone a wee bit viral.
  13. The England PFA offer a whole package of support but I’m not sure if there is any equivalent with the Scottish PFA? Opening para from a Herald article last month: “Scottish professional footballers are having to rely on charity to help fund their recovery from injury, with their clubs, PFA Scotland and the game’s governing bodies either unable to help pay for their treatment or unwilling to accept it is their responsibility to do so.”
  14. Another tie that is unglamorous, unlucrative, and not easily winnable.
  15. St Johnstone have contacted County about White but were told he’s not available.
  16. The fact that we have a threadbare squad and almost no other attacking options yet are still releasing Oakley speaks volumes that this transfer didn’t really work out for anyone.
  17. Pope Catholic.
  18. Reminds me of this tweet.
  19. Logan Chalmers is off to Tranmere on loan, his 3rd loan deal from Dundee Utd in 12 months, after ourselves and Ayr.
  20. Ross Tokely’s short term deal at Nairn has been extended to the end of next season (he’s already43!)

0-0 FT. Not a bad result against the league leaders I suppose, and a decent day overall with none of the teams above us getting 3 points.
  22. Disappointed to see that Oakley is contracted until the end of next season. Signing him hasn’t really worked out in the way that any of the parties hoped, so far at least.

I hope our fans weren’t scared off by this fearsome new Arbroath mob!

It would be great to say that we’ve turned the corner, but hard to be conclusive on that when these wins have been against unspectacular opposition. It certainly appears though that we’ve at least stopped the rot, the low point being at Partick where the performance was a couple of levels below what previous depleted line ups had managed. Having Devine and Ridgers back since then could be a big factor, it’s so important to be solid at the back and that often seems to give confidence to the whole team. Also, Henderson seems to have brought some new life into the attack, and having the 3 HL loanees back has strengthened the match day squads a bit, all having contributed. Some grounds for optimism but Queens will be a much tougher challenge and I’m certainly not at the stage where I’m expecting us to win.
