  1. Agree with whats already been said. My head says Esson but i suspect TB will go with Tuffey. Whoever it is, we are very lucky to have two excellent keepers at the club and i wouldn't hesitate or worry about either of them playing tonight. I think the defence will be Duff - Tokely - Hogg - Munro.
  2. For me we have to keep the 4-4-2 and get at Celtic as much as possible. I'd go with: Tuffey/Esson Duff - Tokely - Hogg - Munro Hayes - Cox - Duncan - Doran Rooney - Foran In terms of Celtic, they're without Wilson, Majstorovic and Brown. I expect their defence to be: Forster Juarez - Rogne - Mulgrew - Izaguirre Just a few points here. However ugly it is, the long ball may be our best form of attack tonight. Foran will win headers against Rogne and Mulgrew but It is essential that we get support to Foran from Rooney, Hayes and Doran so that we can win the second ball and develop play. I remember seeing Graham Bayne play against Rangers a few seasons back and he won every single long ball that night and I'm pretty certain Foran is capable of doing the same tonight. The two Celtic full-backs are both very attacking and will look to get forward as much as possible. This will therefore leave gaps in behind that we can exploit through Hayes and Doran on the counter-attack. However, it is very important the two wingers track back and do their job defensively. Cox and Duncan must play well tonight if we're to stand a chance. They'll probably be up against Kayal and Ledley who have become known for their passing so it imperative that they get in their faces and don't give them time to pick out passes. My main worry is our defence. The Celtic wingers are likely to be Commons on the left and either McCourt or Forrest on the other side. These are players who are capable of beating the full-back and delivering a good ball into the box. I especially worry about Munro playing out of position at left back as he's not all together fast and could easily be beaten in a one-on-one situation. This just highlights how important it is that Hayes and Doran track back and even double up on the Celtic wingers to make it much harder for them. Celtic will start with Hooper being partnered by either Samaras or Stokes. We all know Tokely and Hogg will win anything in the air but the worry is that Celtic get the ball into the strikers feet and they begin feeding it for supporting midfielders and full backs. This is by no means an easy game and on paper Celtic look to have a team capable of winning comfortably but with plenty of team work, this is a game that we can win and progress into the next round.
  3. It appears, going by the clubs press release, that it's not going to be ok Sky Tv: http://www.ictfc.co.uk/articles/20110312/ict-v-celtic_2208825_2314188
  4. Thanks Top Six Next Year. Thought I was the only one who can see some kind of sense! This sort of crap is why I don't bother posting on here too often!
  5. This thread just sums up SOME of the posters on this forum...absolutely pathetic.

  8. Just in from the game and wow Rangers should feel relieved with a point. We played absolutely brilliantly from the first minute to the last and we really showed that we were there not just to get a point but to try and get all three. We passed the ball brilliantly and at times it was hard to tell that we were the promoted team and that they were the Scottish Champions. Not one player let themselves down and i hate picking out one player for particular praise but young Shinnie at left back...take a bow. I can't recall one time in the entire match where Davis, first half, or Naismith in the second half took him on and got past him. He looked so comfortable and his distribution was brilliant. Munro and Tokely defended brilliantly and that dreaded long ball didn't appear at any stage in the afternoon. I could go on singing the praises of the team all night! Terry and Mo are clearly building something special at our club and it's brilliant to be a part of it. The support this afternoon was brilliant with everyone joining in the singing and banter. The players definitely respond to that and it was great to see the players come to the fans at the end of the game and show appreciation for the support they received. Great point and in my view we were very unlucky not to get all three. Fantastic game.
  9. Just back from the game. Fantastic spirit and fight shown by the team today. We were very stretched in terms of players and this is evident from the fact we only fielded 6 subs. Whole team played brilliantly today. Esson made a few very good saves and you could see how much the victory meant to him in particular. Stuart Duff who moved to right back when Proctor went off injured had a solid game and I can't sing the praises of Munro and Tokely enough. They were solid, won ever header and Munro in particular giving great support to young Shinnie at left back who got caught a few times but in the full had a good game. Duncan was solid and passed the ball well when we got the ball down. Nick Ross who was forced to play alongside Duncan in centre midfield slotted in well and didn't look out of place. Really special praise for MOM Eric who had his best game in my opinion since moving to the club. Worked hard, always getting into space, good touch, good awareness and great finishing for both goals. Rooney was quiet but worked hard, was great having Foran, who captained us, back but it's obvious he's lacking match fitness and Hayes tried very hard but was often marked out the game, although he played a brilliant pass for the second goal. First half neither team got a grip of the game and we were guilty of long ball after long ball. Esson made a brilliant save at his near post to keep us in it at halftime. Scored the goal and we calmed down and got the ball down and moved it a little more. Second goal was a great team move involving Hayes and Eric with a really composed finished. Really important win for us today after the Celtic game on Wednesday. Let's just hope we can build on this and take this into the Aberdeen match and get another victory to fire us into the top six.

  11. Completely agree with Caley D and this is exactly what I was pointing out in the Matchday thread. These so called "fans" need to realise that different people enjoy the experience of going to football in a different way from others. I was increasingly getting frustrated and annoyed with these "fans" who felt it was more appropriate to get on top of our own fans rather than behind the team. What do you think the players think if they hear chants about how poor our support is? It's embarrassing really and it really does ruin our support at times.

  15. Like i said, I definitely don't want to start any kind of argument but it's just a call for a more united support that look to get behind the team. I may have misinterpreted the direction that some of the songs were being sung in last night and if i did i apologise. I completely agree that the team respond to vocal backing and my main point is that not everyone enjoys going to games and making noise and i'm just calling for people to respect how other people wish to enjoy the game. I'm being extra careful not to labour this point as there's certainly already enough negativity on this forum, without others adding to it, but i defiantly heard some of the younger lads signing a sectarian song and i'm just wanting to warn them to think about what they're singing before they start signing it. Again i'm sorry if i have misunderstood any of the songs that were being sung last night!
  16. Totally agree with tm4tj. We have no right to simply storm the SPL and we certainly can't assume that we'll stay up. We have to fight for it and fortunately i feel that we have the players who are ready for a real battle. ICT have always been established upon players who aren't massively or individually talented but they play for each other, theres always a great team spirit, they never know when to give up and most of all always give 100%. Maybe some of out fans could do with developing these attributes? Let's laugh off last night, we were simply outclassed by players who cost millions of pounds and leave it behind. Saturdays now the players focus so let's forgot last night and move on and get behind the team for Saturday. However much i enjoyed last season, I really want us to stay up as the SPL is where it's at if we're to progress as a club!
  17. I don't normally post on here very much but I was at the game last night and it's been interesting to read peoples thoughts. Yes it was embarrassing but come on, can we just get this result and our season into perspective a little. Celtic have spent a minimum of £20 million during the summer on international quality players. This is our first year back in the SPL with a squad where the majority of players haven't played regular SPL football before. Terry took a risk last night by playing a weakened youthful team but I'd just love to see the criticism he'd have received if he'd played Foran, Rooney etc for the 90 mins and they had to go off injured. He just can't keep the fans happy whatever he does. We're suppose to support the team but after any result (win, draw or lose) there is a constant slating and questioning of his decisions. The fact is that Terry is the boss and I think he knows slightly better than any fan. I'm fully behind Butcher like the majority of the posters on here and I think it's absolutely astonishing to see that people are calling for Terry's head after one lose to a team of international players, where one of their players receive a bigger weekly wage than the whole of our squad. I really hope that those people who are calling for Terry to leave have just got caught up in the heat of the moment as the man has worked wonders forthe club. It's time for a reality check. We have no right to be in this league, we have to fight for it, and this is why I firmly support the team choice last night. St Mirren is a massive game for us on Saturday. We need to be beating teams like this and Terry is giving us the best chance of doing so by making sure we have a fresh Rooney, Foran etc to play. The only way we're going to stay up is by beating the teams around us. One other point I want to make is the support last night. I don't want to labour this as it's been talked over and over again but last night I found it increasingly frustrating having to put up with a FEW younger guys at the back of the Caley support who find it more appropriateto go to games and shout at their fellow fans for not standing up during agame. I just question they're motivation for going to games? By all means come along to games and make noise and get behind the team in that way but I have no room for people who criticise our own support. Can we not sing songs that support the team rather than slate our own support? Everyone enjoys and has a right to experience the match in a different way whether that's sitting down and watching the football or standing up and making some noise. I don't want to start any kind of argument by writing this but I just wish that these "fans" would come tothe games and support the team rather than get on top of other fans who have just as much right to be at the game as them. Also please don't get me started on the singing of a certain controversial sectarianism song that was being sung by a few of these young "fans". Your pulling down the clubs reputation and it's just so cringe worthy to listen to. Please think before you try to start singing a song! Lets get behind Terry and the team starting on Saturday and cheer them on to many wins this season but can we please stop attacking our own fans for turning up at games and enjoying it in their own way?
  18. I thought the ref was shocking today. Isn't it great to be back playing against the Old Firm and the biased refs?! I've just watched the highlights of the game and how Samaras wasn't booked for three blatant handballs is unbelievable. Mulgrew also got away with a lot too much and obviously realised that Hayes was going to have him down the wing every time, so decided to remind Hayes that he was there, Both Samaras and Mulgrew should have at least been on yellows by half-time. As for Hayes being brought back down in the first minute of the match, i initially thought it was at least a throw in to us but it was unbelievable to see how the ref saw anything that Hayes had done wrong! He couldn't have done anything to get out of the defenders way and having seen it again it should have been a free kick on the edge of the box and possibly a penalty. Horrendous refereeing and the linesman at the main stand side wasn't much better with the amount of offsides he missed! Shocking and lets just hope we get a little more luck in the future.
  19. I may be holding onto false hope but i've not actually seen anything official to say that Foran is definitely out of the Celtic game? He certainly doesn't make mention of an injury HERE in an interview that was published today and there doesn't seem to be anywhere reporting it. Please can someone fill me in if i'm wrong!
