  1. The problem with proctor is, has he ever gone a full season without being injured for at least a month?! Certainly the last few years have been injury dogged. He seems to be consistantly injured!
  2. McKay is excellent and will soon establish himself in the team if he is given time. He was superb at Ibrox in December. He may not get a lot of goals, but he is likely to set up a heck of a lot - that's the type of player he is.
  3. I will be very surprised if Tokely is offered a new contract. I probably would offer him a 1 year deal but as a squad player. I'd look to sign all of the above players. Could it be good business sense to negotiate a 1 year deal with Hayes with the promise to put him on the transfer list immediately and get a few bob for him? Don't know if this is done in football but if clubs rate him high enough and we don't ask too much for him, it makes absolute shrewd business! e.g. let his contract run out and leave for free or 1 year contract @ the same wage and placed immediately on the transfer list. If any offers come in, Hayes receives X amount of the contract fee. So, Celtic sign him for £100,000, we then give Hayes a 'golden goodbye' of £40,000. It's a gamble for him, but he may be better off if he is signed. Of course, assuming this is legal!
  4. Delighted by this news. Effectively the first signing for the 2012/2013 campaign!
  5. Majorly off topic but I thought the SFA are against a Team GB football team? Why are they letting them play at Hampden Park? If their using Ayr and Killie fans for their Olympics stewarding experiments, I find this really hypocritical!
  6. St Mirren have given the reason that certain support are 'high risk'. i.e. Celtic fans have brought flares into the stadium before. Earlier in the season, a young girl was burnt at a Celtic match due to a flare. They have the same policy for a few teams. I'm really in two minds. They could do random searches (which actually is what they ended up doing at the weekend). I had to empty out my pockets for the Motherwell game the other week and a few other people in front of me got the full pat down. There's no need for it with our support, but the stewards don't know that! What made me laugh is the Celtic Trusts main complaint is that it delays people getting into the game. But their asking their fans to see badges and check handware etc etc. If you've got nothing to hide, just get on with it and don't let it ruin your day. There's more things to worry about.
  7. I thought they would have had the Wicker man theme tune for Mahonio....
  8. I always get frisked at Parkhead. Must be a conspiracy!
  9. This made me chuckle. Stole it from P+B... who stole it from the Celtic Supporters Trust. It's not even a joke... Blanket search policy for Celtic fans Published on Wednesday 18th January, 2012 by Celtic Trust New Love Street policy for Celtic fans Representatives of the Celtic Trust and the Celtic Supporters' Association today met with the General Manager and the Head of Security at St Mirren FC. The meeting followed an exchange of correspondence between the Celtic organisations and St Mirren after the last two away games at which there was severe congestion and delays getting into the game, not to mention the indignity of pat down searches for every single supporter regardless of age, or any other factor. We conveyed to the St Mirren reps that this treatment is unique to New Love Street as no other Club consistently treats our fans in this manner. We indicated that this leads to resentment and tension which is entirely avoidable. We stressed to them how unnecessary and inappropriate this action is. They, in turn, informed us that they risk-assess every game and that the main reason for our fans being treated in this way is the 'bad reputation' we now apparently have for the use of flares during games. We disputed the number of occasions when this has taken place and we again stressed that no other Club feels the need to take this action. We indicated that neither of the Celtic organisations represented at the meeting is in favour of the use of flares but that we felt that the problem had been exaggerated in any event. We were told that the information came from Celtic FC and from Strathclyde Police K Division. We asked for information on flow rates into the ground and what time they advised people to arrive in order to ensure entry for kick-off. They did not have this information to hand but agreed to provide it. We are informed that a decision has already been made for Saturday's game to search every fan, however, their Safety Team meets tomorrow and new information may lead to a change in policy. The advice that we are giving to all Celtic fans is that they should not allow themselves to be searched by any steward who does not display the appropriate evidence that they are SIA approved for searches. Neither should anyone allow themselves to be searched unless the searcher has their hands covered appropriately. Clearly people will need to make their own judgement about arrival times to ensure they don't miss the start of the game. We will contact K Division Strathclyde Police and Celtic FC tomorrow to ask them what evidence on the use of flares by Celtic fans they have given to the Safety Team in order to check the veracity of the information on which St Mirren is basing its policy. We will continue to monitor the situation and we may need to consider some form of protest action against St Mirren if they continue to inconvenience and degrade our supporters in this way.
  10. Nice Avator Jnr! Kant! I tell you what. If we beat Midden and the Pars take a big confidence boost from their win today, Midden could be dragged into it. They have some good players, but IMO a tactically inept manager. They shipped 5 goals against ten men Hearts last week! They have Imrie now. Good player, but not good enough to save us and Accies from the drop. Could the Imrie curse strike again? Very possible!
  11. Game on
  12. Asda. It's part of a new sponsorship deal with the new store.
  13. Quote from todays papers. SPL Chief Execttive Neil Doncaster has applauded the Monday football experience. "It's a great initiatve for Scottish football and it's one step closer to having all games played behind closed doors. If Dundee Utd use their common sense, they'll be able to close at least two stands. The money they will save from not having stewards making sure all health and safety rules are followed will help them to remove some of their debt. Now, it's just small steps, but it is the way forward." Doncaster used his succesful spell at Norwich as a prime example. "As Chief Executive, I oversaw two relegations down to League 1. So many fans stayed away that we could close a FULL stand and not worry about overcrowding. Now look at the state of the club. As soon, as I left, within 2 seasons, 2 promotions back to the Premiership! Fans queing (dangerously) for tickets, stadiums packed to capacity and fans refusing to sit down! Some even waving flags - aggressively! It's a logistical nighmare! My vision for the SPL, is to have all games played with no fans. This will save the tax payer millions in police costs. The amount of viewers watching on TV will allow us to negotiate for a better deal - fans can watch from the comfort of their own home, with safe seating provided and unlimited tea!" When asked of the dangers of so many supporters holding hot beverages at once, Doncaster pointed out the obvious. "Iced tea and safe seating is the way forward". Angry supporters flooded message boards. One supporter on 'safeseating.net' called Immortal Howden Ender tried to air his views. Unfortunately due to new goverment legislation, any reference to an 'unsafe standing area' is seen as an encitement to standing. The Scottish Government have notified Lankashire Police. Doncasters message to the fans is simple. Sit down. Shut up.... But i'm listening.
  14. Chorley hair cut.
  15. FFS! Now, the game is being played behind closed doors.......
  16. It was the Saturday, then the Sunday, now the Monday. Watch this space for the game being re-scheduled again! Feckin shambles! What a waste of an away day. Still, half day at work me thinks!
  17. Aye but the season they finished 4th. they were 3rd at Christmas and then went on a bad run and nearly dropped lower. That performances carried on to the start of the next season and then Yogi got sacked. So it all went downhill from January!

  19. So does that mean St Mirren will be relegated next season? Then in the following seasons January transfer window, he will be off again?
  20. If he doesn't turn it around quickly the Gas Heads will be on his back and he'll be in the Conference next season!
  21. If we lose the game at Parkhead and the Pars win who ever they are playing, then we are back in trouble. A league win would go a long way to survival. We've never won at Parkhead (in the league) either, however I'd take 2 wins!
  22. No idea of his status but if he is out, then it is Meekings time to shine!
  23. Bad move imho. I heard a lot of stories coming out of Aberdeen about the way he treats his players.
