Daily Record article
Not too sure what to make of the whole issue with there being not a single Scot in our starting 11 on Saturday. I say that because when you consider Tade, Gillet and Golobart were our only foreign tongue players on Staurday (IE their first language isn't English), it all seems a little OTT to suggest it's an embarrassing situation to find ourselves in.

Butchers No Show at Testimonial
not sure what you find so funny, it is a fact the club was built upon players like that, I believe Butcher has set the club back years with his strategy so guess we will just have to agree to disagree. What I find funny is people that have been bought in by Butchers charisma while ignoring the shocking football he adopts You're quoting me, following the quote I pasted from you, to in effect pose the question, and I quote 'not sure what you find so funny'. is that right? Well, the quote you have quoted me on following the quoted quote that I quoted you on was merely an attempt at what I like to call, sarcasm. I quoted your quote because I thought that particular quote read to me as another 'reason' for TB to get the boot (IE, failing to field a Scot, as I so quoted you on) I therefore wrote the sentence you quoted me on following the initial quote I quoted you on as a sarcastic response because I think you'll look for any reason possible to oust Butcher. What I find funnier now, having seen you quote me on the quoted quotes that I quoted you on, is that you think the quote you posted from me, following my quoted quote from you, seemed to you as being perhaps disrespectful to ICT and it's heritage, rather than the intended sarcasm... In all seriousness, i'm just as disappointed with our performances this season as any other ICT fans, but i'm not into calling for the managers head after every bad game or poor result. Most of the people that are doing so will make some sort of reference to him releasing Grant and Russell. I can't believe people are so naive to think RD and GM would have made any difference to our 2011/12 campaign!

Butchers No Show at Testimonial
"I never thought I would see the day that ICT would field a team without one Scot in it, the type of player the club was built upon." In which case, I'll join the Butcher Out Brigade, because Butcher should have thought about that before releasing Grant and Russell

Butchers No Show at Testimonial
Fair enough... Here goes. Butcher brought in David Davies, Andrew Shinnie, Gregory Tade, Greg Tansey, and Roman Golobart. Arguably 5 of our star performers this season. Unfortunately Davies chose to pursue his dreams with Wolves and Shinnie, who was slow to start, turned out to be a real fans favorite and is on the long term injury list. Billy MacKay has shown glimpses of brilliance as has OTJ since his return from long term injury, both of whom Butcher brought in. Williams has also been brilliant since his arrival (I'll mention here that his is another Butcher signing) as has Josh Meekings (who, oh wouldn't you adam and eve it. He's a butcher signing too). Along with his other previous signings for this club, Club Captain Foran, Star player Hayes, Current goalkeeper Tuffey and of course Chris Hogg, I'd say that Terry Butcher has done damn good for Inverness! Granted, perfomances have been shocking (more so latterly), and no performance has been more boring in recent times than Saturday's game against Aberdeen. But when was the last time any of us saw a season where the manager has to change his squad almost every week because of a tweek here and a niggle there? The best we've managed in terms of the same starting 11 was 3 or 4 games around the festive period! All other times, Butcher has had no option but to mess with the squad to find the best fit. What irks me most is that people forget all this because they're still hung up on the releases of GM and RD. Whenever there is a poor performance or bad result, there's almost certainly a comment regarding their release. They're so hung up on it, there's even a thread as to why Butcher didn't turn up for the players' testimonial match.

Butchers No Show at Testimonial
Kind of getting bored of the Butcher Out brigade, who, lets face it, have been on his case since said release of the two players whose testimonial he supposedly didn't attend (I say supposedly, because I personally don't know if he was or he wasn't). As has been said by others, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Turn Up, the fans say 'whats he doing here. the hypocrite! he released them now he's praising them. Butcher out' Don't Turn Up, the fans say 'what a disrespectful oaf. why didnt he be the bigger man. butcher out.' I know from personal experience that Butcher doesn't want to over shadow other people's limelight. He refused to join the Highland March lap-of-honour last year in fear it would be ruined by boo's aimed at him because of GM and RD's release. I'm sure, if he did stay away from the testimonial, that this would be his thinking. That if he showed up, the fans would chant away at him for releasing them, rather than showing much deserved support for two legends of the club. Let's also not forget, that although Butcher hasn't said why he released Grant and Russell, neither of these two have come out to say why either!! My own personal opinion on the release is that they were simply surplus to requirements. Lee Cox was quickly over taking Russell in the pecking order, so thats understandable, and the chances are that, following the captaincy issue and the possible friction that maybe came from it, perhaps Butcher, and maybe even Grant, thought the best thing to do was to part ways. There is no doubt we have missed Grant this season, and I agree Butcher is to blame for that. But perhaps the 'butcher out brigade' can give it a rest for the final 4 games of the season, because to be completely honest, i'm getting rather bored of seeing people sprout utter pish at any possible oppertunity!

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
I already avoid home games when the 'only two teams capable of winning it' are in town, but for a different reason. The SPL Split adds a more pointless aspect to proceedings, and is perhaps already 'cheating' it's member teams by paying less to a team in 7th despite having gained more points than the team in 6th, 5th or even 4th... It wouldn't surprise me if any NewCo was welcomed into the SPL, but I would certainly avoid any match involving said team. I'll still follow ICT and support my team though. No amount of cheating/tax dodging from the SPL and other member teams can stop me from doing that!!

Post Split Fixtures - Out Now
It would have been great to walk to/from Easter Road. Fitting as it would be for The Proclaimers favorite team to play host to the Highland Marchers, it's good to know we have a potential new route from Paisley to negotiate. Firstly, 3 points on our final pre-split game would be nice. then another win whilst Dunfirmline lose and I'll be happy. No relegation decider to walk to this year please lads!!!

richie foran
I dont think he's been seen to criticise a fellow team mate since his howler(s) against Dundee United at the start of the month I thought he was deserving of a goal against Aberdeen. He commanded the midfield well and assisted the back line when the pressure was on us late on. More of the same Wednesday please, Richie

Finally common sense at Pittodrie!
It was a pleasent surprise to be able to stand and chant for an entire SPL match without a stweard telling us to sit and be quiet I was, however, surprised not to see too many hi-viz jackets floating about, as according to the Daily Record in the week, Aberdeen were looking to have 'nominated personel' who will be issues with 'megaphones' to rally up the fans. I really did enjoy the chanting. Some old ones, some new ones, and even a shout or two for past players as the game went on. Superb...

Kilmarnock - My Heroes - Woohooooo
Killie - YEAH!!!!! Won me 65p on 10p Bowling that did - Get in!!! Great to see a non-OF side go all the way and win it. How much will Stokes me ruing his early 'gift' though... 50/50 on the penalty. Maybe a little contact but Stokes could have definately stayed on his feet.

Dave Grant
I'd like to once more offer my condolences and hugs to Laura, Lynn and Alan. Echoing the words of CD and TM4TJ here perhaps, but he really was a nice guy and 'gentle giant' and will be sadly missed by many many people. Sleep well Dave

Butcher OUT?
I think we're only having this discussion because we haven't won a game in our last 6 outings and with it we haven't been entertained as fans. But as I mentioned before earlier in this topic, we've had very difficult opposition and lost some key players to our squad. Players who were ever present and significant to the 7-game unbeaten spell we'd just came off the back off, are now either out injured long-term or have left the club - Davis, Hogg, Hayes, Shinnie, Cox, Piermyar... Forgive me if I am wrong, but were people not calling for Butcher to go earlier on in the season? their reasons being because, although we were entertaining, we weren't getting the results because the team was new and hadn't gelled. We gelled, entertained, got a good wee run together, and then lost the backbone of that squad and thus haven't won since. It's no fault of Butcher that he's had to play people out of position. We simply don't have the depth in squad to be able to swap a Torres for a Drogba or a Welbeck for a Hernandez. What does irk me slightly with Butcher though, is his constant desire to play Foran for a full 90 week in week out. He's simply not the player he was and Monday wasn't the first time he's (Foran) made costly errors this season and proceeded to blame somebody else. You can even look at his spat with Hayes in the cup as an example of this. Yes, start him by all means. We don't have a deep enough squad to drop him completely, but when he makes howlers such as those against Utd on Monday, it would have surely been wise to hook him rather than Nick Ross for Gnakpa for the final 20-25 minutes?

Butcher OUT?
Hellooooo... Wake up call... Our last 5 matches Celtic Celtic Dunfirmline Rangers Dundee United And you're calling for Butcher to go? May I add to that we had a 7-game un-beaten run prior to those 5-games, including wins over third placed Motherwell and a good Hearts side and our SPL bogie team, Aberdeen. And you're calling for Butcher to go? No midfield... Hayes and Doran are both injured. We lost Davies back to Wolves in January. OTJ isn't fully fit and was probably lucky to make the bench yesterday, not to mention the long-term lay off of Andrew Shinnie. Our only fit midfielders are Tansey, Ross and Foran. And you're calling for Butcher to go? I'm not going to dispute the fact performances and 'entertainment value' this season are anything to shout about. And yes, this is now Butchers team. But stop f***** crying over Grant Munro and Russell Duncan. They're gone. Get Over It. Anyway, who are you going to replace Butcher with? Pele? Robbo now he's free? Or maybe you fancy ABV instead....

Dundee Utd - Non Travel Thread
Great thing about this event is, if you're like me and don't tend to know what you're doing until moments before a game, you can just turn up and not worry about pre-booking. In fact, sod it, I'll make the trip to the social and take the wifey and kids too. (But they better no annoy me whilst the games on )

GordyfromSneck
Only just seen this thread and would like to pass on my sympathies to his family and friends. I'll echo my dad's comment in that I didnt know Gordy personally, but as a regular name appearing on these very forums, I think everyone saw him as a massive part of the ICT family. Sad news indeed. RIP Gordy

Improving the matchday experience at TCS
CaleyD I love this idea... Down at Fir Park, there was a great bit of this exact thing aimed towards Roman Golabart. Whenever the guy made so much as touched the ball, particularly after a good challenge or bit of skill, one section would shout 'Goooolobart', with the other repeating replying 'Goooolobart'. It's much the same as the start of 'Oh Inverness' with someone in effect leading the crowd to be repeated before an all-together rendition...

The Reason I Stayed Away...
Might have known Dougal would be the first person to disagree The stand out point in the video for me is about 13 seconds in, when you see the crowd at the front getting bigger and bigger. Not a single steward seems to try and prevent it, and the police presence is practically zero. So, why should I, therefore, part with my hard earned cash to be told to sit down, shut up, stop swearing, stop singing and thus stop encouraging my team and supporting my team when the away support, partiularly either side of the Old Firm, are persistently allowed to do what they do in the video? Add to that the fact you're almost certain to be sat in close proximity to an opposing supporter in the home ends too... Yes, 12th man, I see where you're coming from in terms of 'its a home game and i like to watch ICT play', but I also like to enjoy myself at the games, and part of the enjoyment for me is being able to get behind my team without being chastised for doing so... I missed Celtics league visit up here back in November. I instead CHOSE to stay away and go for a walk with family and friends as part of my Highland March training. We took in the Nairn County Highland League match instead and what a day we had. We saw the latter part of the Celtic match on tv amongst some banter from Lossie fans, had a spot of lunch and some beers, watched a very entertaining 3-3 encounter and I probably spent around 20 quid in total during the course of the day. Rangers are up here in a few weeks time. Nairn County are once more at home (to Fraserburgh). I'm very tempted to don the walking boots and repeat Novembers antics. Heck, I might even start at Nairn and walk to Forres, and take in their home match against Pele's Formatine United.

The Reason I Stayed Away...
The above link was posted on a friend of mine's facebook earlier today after our loss to the tims, and for some reason it's hit a nerve... This is one of the main reasons I don't go to games when the Old Filth are in town. IE Our own supporters get chastised for standing, chanting and having a good time, yet in the South stand the fans can party and no-one bats an eyelid.

Celtic Cup Preview & Report
I think the biggest words of encouragement for our lads, comes from the words of one Neil Lennon... From the BBC website "They play some very good football. We couldn't have got a tougher tie than Inverness away." To me, that would suggest Lennon is more than worried about making it through to the next round. We're already fired up for this, and even the water bottles are ready for a kicking...

Hayes offer, is he worth it
With Chris Wood going back to West Brom, Rooney's opertunities will only get better. Having said that, I think Rooney has been very, very lucky. The Blues will know he can score else they wouldn't have signed him. With Zigic injuryed at the start of the campaign, and Woods away now, even as a 3rd striker behind these two (and/or marlon king) he's always going to get a chance. Hayes, on the other hand, would find it harder to break into a team such as celtic, dundee united or any championship side, when you consider some of the class that is already on show. Hayes would be far better to pen a 2-3 year extention, produce his best, develop, and when he feels the time is right, move on to another club knowing ICT will get some dosh. If an injured Lee Cox can go to Swindon for £50,000, I'm sure a fully fit Hayes would be worth a minimum £200k in a year or two
