Dunfermline -V- ICT : matchday thread
Some might say (and no i wont sing oasis) that 3 points is a must today. Now personally, i would have taken a draw at the start of todays match as dunfirmline are a good side, but considering Morton are holding Dundee currently, we really do need a goal to take advantage and close the gap. A wee boost before boxing day!

Time for a Reality Check?
Brewster - Cant fault his first stint in charge but this was mostly due to his influence on the field that gained us much needed points. His true managerial skills were shown at Utd and we should never have taken him back. I wholeheartedly think he done the damage before butcher came in. As people above have said, he gave vertually no respect to the more experienced and infulential players, and had too much emphasis around fitness. Butcher - Excellent when he came in and is starting to get tactics right despite a run of bad results IMO. Unfortunate in not keeping us up, but to draw with Celtic and beat Rangers is sensational whoever you are. Doing well with a depleted squad and i think made the right choice bringing back golly! The Team - Always knew we'd have fewer players after relegation and am more than happy with who we have. We do however need a stronger back four. Tactics - Not much wrong with them at the strat of the game, but what happens at half time? jeez! The Fans -Expect too much but understandable when fed lines from the club. we all need to be behind the lads and not shout abusive chants (such as imrie on saturday) and should also not criticise those who do in fact turn up and chant week in week out. Everyone should buy an old clacker from that toy shop in eastgate - only ?2.50 The Board - Who are they and what do they do... I think perhaps it's sleepy, dopey, bashful and doc and they never whistle, because they never work. The Future -Glad to see Darren and staff working to bring the fans what they want off the park, but i think this christmas period will determine our season. If we get 9 out of 9 in these coming 3 games, then we'll be back in it. anything less and i doubt we'll be in the SPL next season - and to be honest, is that really a bad thing?

todays crowd
2768 usual crowd this season has been around 3000/3100, so considering the terrible weather, we cant really grumble

A proposed solution
two of us at least will be making noise tomorrow... my old man and i have just bought wooden rattlers to go with a hooter and slide-whistle!!! Could be fun at goal kicks.

How we could do with this!
Scored Dinamo's second today with a decent header after a brilliant counter attack in a 2-0 win. Not the sort of guy to look out for former players, but Marius is one i try to keep tabs on. Decent bloke, decent player.

Transfer window

Butcher has to Go!
Every week it's the same thing. And by the same thing I of course mean a 'fan/supporter' who's annoyed and angry at the result who feels compelled to call for the manager's head. What sort of confidence/positivity is that going to generate, hey? There may well be folk at the club reading such comments and thinking 'here we go again'!!! every time we lose it's a call for the manager's head. Admittedly, I was calling for Brewster's sacking towards the latter end of his tenure, but my reasons were justified because we were on our worse EVER run of form under ANY manager we'd had before. IMHO the damage was done before Butcher came in, but lets not go there! Butcher hasn't even had a full season yet for goodness sake.... And did you really expect us to go straight back up anyway after loosing the likes of Morais, Black, Kerr and many others?! Why not put things into perspective before running your mouth... here's a few examples: We have won just twice in all competitions at Firhill against Partick - including a penatly shoot out earlier this season! We are in arguably the toughest league in Scotland competing with evenly-matched sides - evident when you look at the top 6 sides points tallies! We sit just 5 points off top spot coming into christmas (would you be unhappy with that come Feb/March - I dont think so) We have the best goal-scoring rate in the league to date We made it to the final of a national league cup competition, and were unfortunate not to win it And finally, so someone else pointed out, we are in no position financially to go sacking anyone, so no matter how much you deteste the management team or our teams performances, they are here for the forseeable - no amount of throwing toys out the pram is going to change that! We have a difficult sequence of games coming up and I for one intend to follow our team with support and encouragement!!!

Partick -V- ICT : matchday thread
seemingly of all the times we've played Partick on their turf, we've only had 2 wins... one of which was on penaties in the cup this year - i'm therefore not surprised about the scoreline so far.

Football wins the day
I, like CD, was not just gutted yesterday but well and truely p****d off. A couple of bad decisions cost us the game before Butcher had chance to react with substitutions, but I wll save this side of things for the appropriate thread. One thing that was fantastic was the craic and banter of old. Sat at the Tulloch Institute, I was back in the old days sat next to Central Belter, chatting with a certain Coia, and remembering days gone by where Mooncat and KingBeastie would cheerlead at any opertunity. The match itself, i agree, would have been a blinder for any neutral and ourselves and Dee can be proud knowing that this 'diddy' cup produced fome outstanding entertainment.

Section G attachment
The 'older generation' - particularly those in the north stand - probably dont appreciate just how much behind the team these lads in Section G are. They are not hooligans. They create new songs from nowhere - the jonny hayes one is original, catchy and brilliant by the way - and they ARE the atmosphere at TCS. Since the likes of Bingham Legend changed to following Killie and stopped attending games, these lads deserve credit for taking over. I dont sit right at the back with them, but I do get involved. Even a few younger lads have started to bring their hooters to games to join in. I think thats excellent. Proof these lads are there for the banta and not to create a riot came prior to the county match in the Mallard. One of the lads took offence to a remark made by an opposing fan and squared up to him. Right away, the rest of the 'Section G' lads jumped in the PREVENT any fighting and hooliganism, where many others would have perhaps continued the potential violence. The tomato sauce incident was simply, IMHO, a heat of the moment, adreniline fueled act of stupidity from one individual who took the 'bog roll atmosphere' of old too far.

CTO - The Future
I've not read all of the replies on this thread and I apologise if anything I type has been said before. It's been a very long day and I've not looked at this thread since reply #3 Instead of a whole seperate section for complaints, why not have a senior moderator 'flag' a negative thread so people can easily determine where the banta is or isnt. this wont imediately eliminate negative posts, but it'll certainly show people before opening a topic what threads to avoid. By avoiding negative topics, posters can continue with the banta freely, and if others so wish to turn a positive topic into a negative one, they can then be yellow carded. There are envolopes on each topic to say which ones you've read and replied to - why not change these to 'traffic lights'. I hope this makes sense. Finally, despite already PMing scotty, i would like to publicy show my gratitude to scotty, donald, the mods and everyone else who has done a fantastic job on CTO - Hopefully this negativity we're seeing is a cloud that will soon show it's silver line

Interesting...
What was interesting was hearing a guy behind me (to the right of section G) shouting how he wanted butcher gone and how rubbish he is as a manager, only for there to be complete silence from the guy when he put eric on and he scored... From my own POV there wasnt that much to talk about from todays game. The majority of it was not in the least entertaining, and hayes and odhiambo were a breath of fresh air when they came on. Eric took his chance and what a fine goal it was too. Delighted for him
