  1. I didn't say we did have a divine right to anything. I said that we are better than bottom place and should not be content to stagnate at the wrong end of the league when it's well within our abilities to aim for the middle of the table. We've achieved this sort of thing before, but now seem to have run out of any sort of aspiration to try and better ourselves, and now seem to be going backwards.
  2. We shouldn't be "hovering round the bottom" of anything. Believe it or not, we are better than that. It's not unreasonable to aim for mid-table, and even a top half finish. Our population/catchment area is also not that small: Inverness is not a wee town any more, it's a (quite sprawling) city, and we should also be able to attract fans from the Highlands in general. So sorry, I don't buy the "this is as good as it's going to get, so be thankful" argument. Things have already been better than this in previous seasons in terms of league placement, standard of football etc. It just feels like we've completely stopped trying in the past year and are now going backwards. That's why so many people, including myself, are so upset.
  3. Agreed, Alex. I can't see Aberdeen conducting contract negotiations with, for instance, Zander Diamond the way we have with Black and Cowie. Plus the fact that it's the same every year. We never seem to learn, and in consequence have lost a lot of players who could have been very vaulable to us in the long run.
  4. Normally I wouldn't find that funny because of what it implies about our club, but this season it's funny because it's very, very true. If you didn't laugh you'd probably cry!

I'd be in favour of some kind of protest. Banners, chants, everyone wearing "Brewster Out" slogans, whatever. As you say, 5th Stand, something that gets some media attention and highlights how the fans really feel about things.
  6. After three years in the trade he should have learned something of it by now. I don't see any evidence of him learning anything.
  7. It's never going to be the same without you, Barry. Thanks for everything you've done. Haste ye back.
  8. This is a travesty, and as you said, Donview, it is the final straw.
  9. No reason to hate him, instead be angry with the person or persons who caused him to leave us in the first place. I know I am... Anyway, well done to the guy. He always looked a class act and definitely the kind of player you want playing for you rather than against you!
  10. I wonder if Brewster really believes half the stuff he comes out with and if he does, does he actually expect us to buy this nonsense?
  11. Evidently it is. As in life in general, common sense has gone completely out the window with us.
  12. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!! For all the reasons 4ize has listed above.
  13. And even if he's not playing week in week out, he has a lot of very valuable experience that can be passed on to the younger players. We should definitely be capitalising on that.

Ha! I knew someone would say something about that eventually!
  15. Call me hard-hearted, but I don't feel sorry for them. As the man said, the mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly small; what goes round comes round, what's for you will no go by you etc etc. After years of mismanagement and spending money they didn't have this is only what they can expect.
  16. A terrible draw, IMO. Not looking forward to this one bit! :thumb04:
  17. If that happens it will be an utter travesty.
  18. Interesting that you should say that, caleyboy. I have a friend who works for Tullochs and a few years ago she also told me that in her opinion David Sutherland wasn't really a football man. This isn't to badmouth him or anything, just interesting that more than one person has this opinion of him.
  19. BTW, why is my post at the head of this topic? It doesn't make a lot of sense in this context and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that I had seemingly started a topic I had no knowledge of!! For a moment I thought someone at work had hacked into my account Back on topic, I was quite disappointed when Sutherland and Savage couldn't work together, as IMHO this has hampered the club's progress. The public falling out they had after Savage resigned was needless and didn't make us look good, not least because they appeared to be behaving less like experienced businessmen and more like a couple of small angry boys arguing over a toy. As to what Sutherland's real intentions are right now, I guess only he knows that.
  20. If that's true then it's pretty paltry. Even I earn quite a bit more than that!
  21. That's as may be, but it's remarkable how, even in tough times, individuals and organisations can find the resources to do something if they really want to do it. Anyway, as you've pointed out, Brewster's contract is up at the end of the season, so it surely wouldn't cost that much to pay him off now?
  22. If the board really wanted to do it they would find the money somewhere.
  23. Yes, very constructive Ralph. :thumb04: Unfortunately, it seems pretty obvious that Mr Brewster's man-management skills are not what they should be. To be brutally honest, I'm quite glad that he's not my boss.
  24. It frustrates me that this same pattern gets repeated year after year after year. At best the club is incredibly naive in this respect, and I would agree that Bennett is not doing his job. We've lost so many good players over the years because of this kind of incompetence.
