I'm with those who think it well worth while to blood youngsters by having them on the bench. Surely the experience of being in the changing room with the starting X1, hearing the team talk etc is invaluable to these young lads. Of course, I know there is a cost involved. A friend of mine's Grandson plays for Reading. Before he became a first team regular, he often warmed the 1st team bench as a 17/18 year old, rarely getting on, even for a few minutes. He didn't mind a bit as it meant an extra £1000 on his weekly wage packet! For us I'm sure we would be talking of just a tiny percentage of that figure for each lad. Money well spent in my view.

Teams have cottoned on to Tremarco as a weakness and in the first half everything seemed to be coming down our left. Shame as he's really good going forward but defensively he's poor. I thought Devine had come on a lot in the past year and even imagined he could fill Warren's boots, but this season how many times has he let us down with horrorshow defending like the penalties v Dundee and St Johnstone. Anyway roll on Saturday as you say big man. Teams have cottoned on to Tremarco as a weakness and in the first half everything seemed to be coming down our left. Anyway roll on Saturday as you say big man. Totally agree with Mantis. Our defensive problems all stem from Shinnie's departure and Warren's injury. Neither Tremarco nor Williams has really filled Shinnie's boots, and Devine is too inconsistent in the middle of the defence. Get back soon Gary! I also feel that Hughes has made some unwise decisions in some of the players he has brought in. I always thought that the reason to bring in a new player was to strengthen the squad. Can we honestly say that Wederburn, Roberts, Lopez, Silva meet that criterion?- 110 replies

ffs Almost 70% possession according to the stats, but we can't beat 10 men! It is scary how often we seem to concede late goals. Top 6 looks a long way off now.

Yes, well done to Cameron and the board for standing firm on compensation. Well done too to John Hughes, who, as far as I can tell, has kept a dignified silence throughout this whole saga. I hope he is happy with the outcome and that a satisfactory contract extension with us is in the offing. Onwards and upwards. Another great season is possible.

IF we needed a new manager.....
Caley Mad In Berks replied to TtotheOtotheM's topic in Caley Thistle
I sincerely hope all this speculation about Hughes going turns out to be unfounded. However, in the worst case, if he were to go, I'd be very nervous about Foran getting the job with absolutely no experience. Also, I'm not a fan of former managers coming back, so 'no' from me for Terry. Of the names mentioned on this thread so far (which we could perhaps afford), the only ones I would consider are Latapy ( I know he'd be 'coming back', but as boss instead of second string), or Alexander. However, time will tell. -

Excellent result. Sounds like a very nervy last few minutes, but we held out. 3 good league wins in a row now. Maybe we should play against top 6 every week!

After the way he left ICT for Hibs, I think you must be in a small minority of ICT fans who feel any sympathy , or sorrow, for him. As to him being an ICT legend, well I don't think so. 'Legend' is banded about far to readily these days, imo, not only by your good self, but by other posters on this forum when talking about ex players. For me a legend will have earned that respect over a considerably longer spell than Terry's relatively short spell with us.

Yes, great result. Sounds as if we did well to hold on today. Pity about Ryan's red card. -

Cracker from Christie, 2-0. Brilliant! Keep it up lads, I sense our season is now on track. -
I see where you're coming from, but it's actually the relatively new, Castle Stuart golf club, on the coast between Inverness and the airport. Yes, I think that is Castle Stuart G C. It reminds me of a house from my childhood, on Culduthel Road, way past Burn Road and Lodge Road. This house was owned by one of the many Italian shop/cafe owners we had in Sneck (Frankie Rizza?, possibly). He named it 'Over and above', not for its imposing position on high ground, but because, during its development, every time he talked to the builder the price went up, with the builder saying "over and above there's this to pay for" and "over and above there's that to pay for" etc. Funny what sticks in ones memory!

I'll be pleased for Shinnie , but this should have happened two years ago. Of course he hasn't become a better player, only that he now plays for a more fashionable team. For me, if Shinnie is now selected, Strachan has just confirmed how shallow he is. Not Shinnie's fault of course.

Very satisfying result. (Does my prediction league forecast no harm either!) All the stats look good. Let's hope we can continue the good form on Saturday and get a win against the odds. Nice result from Ibrox too, but a worrying one from Dingwall. They seem to be in good form ahead of our clash in a couple of weeks. But, nothing we can't cope with I'm sure. Onwards and upwards!- 18 replies
