Can Scotland do it...?
Yet another glorius failure!. I've lost count of how many of these I've endured in my 50+ years watching Scotland. Its made worse this time by the fact that England, who, from any easy group, haven't really deserved to qualify but probably will now. Still, I'll console myself with the knowledge that means they'll now be stuck with McLaren until after the World Cup.

David Weir interview.
Did anyone else see him interviewed in the live press conference at the Scotland team Loch Lomand base? I was most impressed with his level headedness, and the way he conducted himself. Obviously he is an intelligent, articulate man, qualities I have not often associated with too many footballers. If his display on the field tomorrow matches his display in the press conference, then we have a real chance. Here's hoping.

Marius Niculae
Arrange a TV reality show with Lloyd Webber's help. Maybe we could call it 'How do you solve a problem like Mari-us'

AVOIDING RELEGATION
Why are you so obsessed with what Marius earns?? :017: I assume you were pleased to see Bayne ahead of him yesterday then? And you'll now be pleased that Dennis has gone back to being ***** since Graham's started alongside him the last 3 games? And do you honestly think the way we played yesterday, and the complete shambles we witnessed on the pitch, is all down to the higher wages of one man? If the problems are all down to Marius's wages then it's embarrassing. And those players can get to feck, because they might well want to maintain the small team mentality which'll probably see us drift back down the leagues, but personally I'd like to see us get better, and bigger. If they're not good enough to acheive that, get rid of them. Mediocrity might be fine for some players and fans, but for some of us it isn't. Well said davieB, my sentiments exactly

AVOIDING RELEGATION
Surely not this old chestnut again. If I were boss and I thought players were not performing because of wage structure issues, they would 'be down the road' before they could wink (yes, I did say wink!!)' I think there must be more to it.

mr t...crazy fool
There's a world of difference between playing hard within the rules and outside the rules. Yesterday he was downright stupid and well outside the rules.

Bayne as centre half
One of the best players ever produced in the UK, the great John Charles, could play centre half or centre forward with equal aplomb. So maybe it is not such an outrageous idea.

Richie.......
Soft option by the club in my view. Most employers would have shown him the door. In many other sports he would have had a lengthy ban. However, I'm glad its all over and I wish Richie well. I hope he realises how lucky he's been

Ben Foster
Foster is a top class keeper, but I can't see him coming to us on loan. He's probably on about ?10k a week with Utd. I can't see us paying 50% of that ( my understanding of the usual the loan arrangement). Nice idea though, and I'd love to see him with us, but it won't happen.

ICT -V- ABERDEEN - matchday thread
Absolutely right, couldn't have put it better myself

Unforced errors.
Spot on. A much bigger loss than Dargo. What's happened to himbtw?

ICT -V- ABERDEEN - matchday thread
Watched it on Setanta. We were utter gash for first half hour. Soft goal which keeper should have stopped, but Young should have been tackled by any one of 3 defenders before he got his shot in. Much better in 2nd half with stunning goal from Denzil and a great try from Duncan. Another soft goal though with defenders getting in poor positions. Very disappointing after our recent good form. Dons defended well, with Diamond outstanding.

Richie.......
Have to agree. Its as simple as that. And none of the excuses, pleadings etc from many posters will make any difference. He has to go.

Stripes or Block Coloured Shirts
I like the red and blue stripes 'Barcelona' like home kit. But I must say I liked last season's predominately white away strip better than the new one.

Neil Warnock interview
Did anyone else hear him being interviewed this morning, mostly about the Chelsea shambles? However, he did give us a mention. Talking about how you have to take what's published in the press with a pinch of salt, he related the story of being in Scotland on holiday and being asked by a passer by about ICT. He replied something along the lines of " they're a nice club, we played them in a pre season friendly, and it is a lovely part of the world" . Next day its headline news that he's interested in the job. I said at the time that he was way out of our league, and still think that he was never a serious contender for us. He reckons he has one job left in him, and I quote, " at a good club".

ICT -V- HEARTS - Matchday Thread
Great result. Just what we needed. Great for Brewster as player and manager. The same again in the cup on Tuesday and against Falkirk next Sat. and we'll all be wondering what all the fuss was about about reappointing Brew!

What song should ICT run out to?
The 1990 side were captained by David Sole. They slow marched onto the pitch with no music playing. However, the crowd did give IMO the best ever rendition of Flower of Scotland when the anthems were sung

League Cup next round draw
Good test to see if we're likely to overtake them in the relegation battle!

Are Hearts a disgrace to Scottish football?
The trend, particularly in England, for individuals to takeover football clubs is bound to lead to grief in my view. In Hearts case it is happening sooner rather than later, but I would be amazed if the same thing doesn't happen in England when the Abramovichs et al tire of their 'football club' hobby and decide they want to put their money elsewhere. I don't know the solution but perhaps along the lines of the fans via supporters trusts having the majotity stake would be an idea.

Our goalkeeper cover problem to be resolved ?
That'll please Fraser!!!

Support the Board
Well said Yngwie. I join you as one of the few who don't think the Board has done a bad job. Even though Brew was not my own choice, I don't think they had a lot of choice. Warnock (as I've said on other threads) was never a realistic possibility (and certainly not my choice ) leaving Owen Coyle (largely untried and surely a bigger risk than Brew). So Brew virtually picked himself in my view, unless the board were prepared to take longer over the appointment and widen the shortlist

Brewster in perspective.
At last some common sense. I didn't want Brew myself ( nor the whinger, Warnock), but I'm prepared to give him a chance.

The new "singing" section
GJ Don't know IHE's view (but I could guess), but it looks spot on to me

Petition against Craig Brewster returning to ICT
here, here. At least I'd sign a petition banning all further petitions!
